Useful Idiots: Sam Harris thinks Nazis are better than Hamas

Podcaster and philosopher Sam Harris came out with a new take this week that the Nazis were actually better than Islamic Jihadists, mainly Hamas. So if you know anyone who survived the Holocaust, you can tell them that they really didn’t have it that bad.

This racist and absurd opinion stems from the crazy idea that Hamas is analogous to Nazis in the first place: we might remind Mr. Harris that in Germany in 1941, the Jews were not occupying the Germans. The Jews were not keeping Germans in a concentration camp. The Jews were not putting Germans on a diet. The Jews were not “mowing the lawn” of Germans.

The Jews, like the Palestinians, were, as Norman Finkelstein said in our interview last week, “refusing to accept the fate that has been meted out to them: to languish and die in a concentration camp."

The fact that people like Sam Harris are considered thought leaders in our country is a scary thing.

But that’s not all there is to throw down this week. Biden is telling new lies that the way to end the war in Ukraine is to give them another $61 billion of weapons. Chuck Schumer is calling out the Republicans for not being hard enough on Russia while Ted Cruz is claiming the Democrats are too soft on Israel. Antony Blinken is very sad that no one has ever condemned Hamas. A Berkeley law professor assaulted a student protesting for Palestine. And you’ll never guess how Fox News brought the eclipse back to the border.

It’s a week jam-packed with awful
Stick with Katie and Aaron, they’ll make sure you laugh instead of cry at it all. It’s our Thursday bonus episode. Let us know in the comments what corporate media monologues, interviews, or anything else you want to see on the next Thursday Throwdown.

Do you listen to Sam’s words, or just take this opinion as fact?

You may want to read this synopsis of Hamas and their goals.

Hamas

Hamas promotes Palestinian nationalism in an Islamic context.[63] In its 1988 charter, Hamas articulated its objective to establish an Islamic Palestinian state throughout the entire territory of Mandatory Palestine.

Subsequently Hamas began acquiescing to 1967 borders in the agreements it signed with Fatah in 2005, 2006 and 2007[64][65][66] In 2017, Hamas released a new charter that supported a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders without recognizing Israel.[67][68][69][70][71] Hamas’s repeated offers of a truce (for a period of 10–100 years[72]) based on the 1967 borders are seen by some scholars as consistent with a two-state solution.[73][74][75][76]

Other scholars say truce does not imply a permanent peace with or recognition of Israel and that Hamas retains the long-term objective of establishing one state in former Mandatory Palestine.[77][78] The 1988 Hamas charter was widely described as antisemitic.[79][80][81] The revised 2017 Hamas Charter stated that Hamas’s struggle was with Zionists, not Jews.[82][83][84]

Hamas has carried out attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians, including suicide bombings and indiscriminate rocket attacks.[85] These actions have led human rights groups to accuse it of war crimes. Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, Paraguay, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union[44] have designated Hamas as a terrorist organization. In 2018, a motion at the United Nations to condemn Hamas was rejected.[e][87][88]

Its as if that was a counter argument

When an article contains no quotes, I’m suspicious.

Well, Hamas wants to destroy Israël, Israël right wants to build Eretz Israël by expulsion of every Palestinian living in Gaza or Cisjordanie, or Israël.

Extremists don’t want peace.

But the blood of Palestinians killed by Israël is the seed of new Hamas fighters.

Yes I listened to his words. You did not.

Literally not wanting to know why things come to be is the only way bigotry can have any influence at all. He knows it, and not knowing is why they don’t want any solution but to oppress or just kill them for who they ideologically think should be in racial or religious authority.

“jihadist” is such a vague term
basically the concept of Jihad means “struggle” - either the struggle to overcome an external enemy, or overcome your own inclination to sin, or to proselytise the word of god. It’s putting your personal desires aside for God. Like somebody who is dealing with alcohol dependency and trying to quit because they want to be closer to God could be said to be engaging in Jihad. It’s a praiseworthy thing to do. Describing Hamas as “jihadist” is missing the point- because the primary thing motivating them is not religion, it’s Palestinian nationalism and separatism from Israel. This isn’t a holy war, it’s a war about territory and rights.

This dramatic act, which occurred in full public view, has left many trying to understand the motivations of a man who was both a provocateur and a deeply troubled individual.

From The Times India.

More proof, if any were needed, of the NYT being an Israeli propaganda machine

They are filing reports on the police supression of campus protests against the genocide under the heading “Antisemitism on Campus”.

Fcking disgusting rag.

My point of view.
The true facts are being buried by political miss-direction. Most likely to take the pressure off what is taking place by the leadership here at home. I would bet our government will try and drag this war out for a year if they can.

The first debatable fact is. There is no genocide going on in Palestine.

Second. There is a war taking place.

Third. There are no civilians being killed in Palestine.

Fourth. The world kitchen aid workers were helping Hamas, the terrorists.

My point of view. Israel gave mandatory evacuation orders for people to evacuate to safe-haven areas. Hamas told civilians to stay in their homes and not heed the call. At that point the population that did not evacuate no longer had a civilian status. All civilians in the war zone must be considered combatants for the time they are in the evacuation zone although they are not members of any armed forces.

No different than a person being told to leave because of a coming forest fire. We should not expect people to stay and governments to send food trucks into the fire area to feed the non-evacuees. It seems like a good idea to run from danger.
Every time I hear the word civilians instead of combatants being used in the Gaza news, I just write it off as political BS. I prefer transparency and common facts and I don’t like being led by the political departments and political parties running the government. It should be the other way around. The people’s representatives should be leading the government by common laws and rights as laid down in the Rules of Laws. This should be about the 130 hostages and not about how the combatants are being treated. How many combatants are 130 hostages worth?

Fifth. The diaspora of the Jewish people. The US could be called the homeland of the Jews in the late 20th Century. The United States is still the home to the largest Jewish population in the world after Israel. Just like Russia stepping in to stop the atrocities being committed against the Russian people of the Donbas. The US is expected to have some morals and help its Jewish population and their homeland.

Thats not a serious post. Lots of denial without reason.

If you’re running from danger, it’s tough to stop for groceries. Aid is being given outside the line of fire, forest or bullets, same thing.

So starving babies and children is debatable genocide? Doing everything they can to keep people from getting clean water and fresh food, even if it means killing aid workers, is debatable genocide? Do you even consider any of that war crimes?

I think if they are being starved to death, then civilians are being killed. How were the Kitchen Aid workers helping Hamas? They were there to feed people and children in Palestine are dying of starvation. That, IMO, is a war crime.

My view points.
Who killed the babies?

The bombs dropped by Israel killed the babies.

Is Israel committing genocide by killing the babies?

Did Israel tell the civilians they were going to drop bombs and to move to a safe-haven area that had been set up for them with water and food to be able to take care of their babies?

Did the Nazis commit genocide by dropping bombs on London?

Did the USA commit genocide by dropping bombs on Berlin?

The answer is no.

The US and Nazis told the civilians of their intent and ask for a surrender before the act of war took place. Israel did the same.

Who did not warn the civilians was Hamas. What Hamas did was an act of genocide. Note, The Palestinian National Authority seems to back the actions of Hamas. Expect that to change in the coming days.

What is the moral level of the USA? We seem to be funding both sides of the Palestine war. We seem to have committed the greatest genocide known to mankind with Covid and are trying to blame it on a bat. Just as Israel dropped the bombs. We funded the bombs for both sides and created the environment for the war to take place.

Don’t be surprised if the government changes the definition of “genocide”. Like they did with “vaccines” and “climate change”.

Question for thought. In today’s two-tier system. What if the American hostages being held in Gaza were Obama’s or Pelosi’s kids. Do you think that would have changed the pathway America is taking?

Israel bombed the convoys of civilians leaving and there was no food or water or shelter in the designed areas.

In fact the so called "safe places " were also bombed.

And in fact, for weeks there have not been any safe place.

I am not sure that a genocide is being done, but it is possible.

Crimes against humanity are almost certain

War crimes have been documented.

I agree this is a brutal conflict, at cost of many civilians. But this conflict was started by Hamas and Hamas is the “cause” that produced the “result”.

Everybody has been warned by Israel, but nobody seems to take them seriously.

Israel is now making good on their warning in response to Hamas’ heinous TERRORIST attack, designed to terrorize Israeli civilians.!!!

2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel

Main article: 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel

On 7 October 2023, coinciding with the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip. Around 2,900 armed Hamas militants infiltrated Israel followed by a few waves of Gazan citizens.[18] The 2,900 militants killed 1,163 people.[1]

Around 1,200 Israelis and foreigners were killed, which included 859 civilians, 282 soldiers, 57 policemen and 10 Shin Bet members.[19][14][20][21] Many of the bodies were burned and mutilated.[22] **Another massacre occurred at a music festival near Re’im, where 364 were shot, bludgeoned, or burned to death.[23][24] Thousands more sustained injuries, hundreds of which were severe.[25]

**Ad ditionally, Hamas operatives allegedly engaged in torture, rape and sexual assault against numerous women, girls, and in some cases, men.[26][27] About 250 Israeli civilians and soldiers were taken as hostages to the Gaza Strip, including 30 kidnapped children.[28]

The Hamas assault prompted an Israeli counter-offensive in Gaza. The day is considered the bloodiest in Israel’s history and the largest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust.[29][30]

Your posts are extremely repetitive and lack substance. Anyone with a nuke is taken seriously. The facts of how they are killing so many is why they are being taken seriously. Or by “seriously” do you mean everyone should give in to their demands and eliminate Gaza and The West Bank?

We are not talking bombs, we are talking starvation. Israel is starving the Palestinian children and babies. Israel is denying them medicine, clean water, and other necessities of life. The bombs are a problem, but the starvation, lack of medicine, and clean water is worse.
