War Drums in the Ukraine

According to American commentators, Prof Jeffrey Sachs and several ex-US military personnel, the Ukraine War is not going well for Ukraine. They describe the current war as asymmetrical, ie the Russian side has more troops and ammunition whereas the Ukraine troops are smaller and running out of ammunition. The Ukrainian army is consuming more ammunition than what US and allies can supply. It would be wiser for Ukraine to agree to a ceasefire to prevent further loss of lives. The Russian is going to keep the areas they occupied and retaking those areas would be difficult and would prolong the war indefinitely.

What if you personally were placed in such a position? I invade your property and set up camp . You are not strong enough to run me off your property.

Would you give up and just let me take that part of your property? After awhile I could actually claim legal possession of that portion of your property that I occupy.

There is a term for that. It’s called “Adverse possession”.

Very good interview with Scott Ritter (Justin Podur) Ukraine one year one

Covers a lot of ground, background, Wagner group, NATO provocation, state of war on the ground, etc.

Some months ago, i was asked a question about demonstrations in Europe against the support of the European governments to Ukraine.

It appears that some of them were fake demonstrations.

That does not mean that there is no opposition.

There is opposition from the anti-military left, there is opposition of some leftists whose watch is still on the times of the cold war, and there is opposition of the ultra-right, who share the ideology of Putin.

The disinformation campaign was named Reliable Recent News, after the pro-Russian website. It’s the second wave of the so-called Doppelgänger operation which was uncovered last year by NGO EU DisinfoLab and Meta, AFP reported, adding that German media such as FAZ, Der Spiegel and Bild were also targeted.

Despite the shutdown of Kremlin-backed outlets RT and Sputnik, Russian disinformation is still spreading across EU countries. Earlier this month, Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová told POLITICO that Russian narratives are finding fertile ground in her country.

And of course given past history of manipulating American minds, we should be aware that it’s still going on over here and we should be aware.

Russian charged with using US groups to spread propaganda

By ERIC TUCKER and MIKE SCHNEIDER - July 29, 2022

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Russian operative under the supervision of one of the Kremlin’s main intelligence services has been charged with recruiting political groups in the United States to advance pro-Russia propaganda, including during the invasion of Ukraine, the Justice Department said Friday.

The indictment of Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov reflects what U.S. officials say are ongoing Russian government efforts to meddle in the American political process, to shape public opinion and to sow discord and dissent on hot-button social issues.

Introduction and summary

On January 6, 2017, the U.S. intelligence community released a declassified assessment to the public confirming what most had already suspected: Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered an influence campaign in 2016 aimed at the U.S. presidential election.
Since the intelligence community released its assessment, the public has learned a great deal about this assault from the special counsel investigation, press reporting, and declassified intelligence. Based on analysis of available material, it has become increasingly clear when, how, and why Russia launched the campaign against American democracy.
It is evident that there was a surge of activity intended to influence the American electorate and political institutions that originated in 2014 as a counterresponse to the U.S.-led international isolation of Russia following its intervention in Ukraine.

For the past year, the world has reeled over escalating reports of how Russia “hacked” the 2016 US presidential election, by stealing emails from Democrats, attacking voter registration lists and voting machines and running a social media shell game.

Such is the focus on Russian meddling that congressional investigators are increasingly aggressive in asking the big tech companies to account for how their platforms became the staging grounds for an attack on American democracy.

Here’s the one I can’t figure; I know propaganda exists, or make it mild, advertising exists. I go to Whole Foods for reasons that are probably not completely rational. It’s easy for a Dorito munching moron to point out my hypocrisy. Well, they wouldn’t know what “hypocrisy” meant, but, you know what I mean. But, when it’s clearly pointed out that Russia is manipulating minds here in the US of A, that’s somehow not possible.

So, right wingers upset about George Soros melding in the affairs of other countries, without looking what that meddling is.

Biden escalates again by approving cluster bombs to ukraine. These are illegal under the Geneva convention. Has the west run out if ammunition ???

I wonder what Putin is doing to cause this escalation. You seem to forget that Russia is the aggressor and has even threatened nuclear deployment.
Yet you are accusing the US of escalating this genocidal war started by Russia.
Are you a Russian shill?

The conflict is 500 days old now and its a disgrace the world has let it happen. Biden is escalating as the Ukraine counteroffensive has been a disaster and the NATO meeting on Tuesday dosent have a victory to celebrate

Dang, this bad political commentary sounds familiar

So, the world is at fault for Putin’s war crimes? Where do you live? Surely not in the Ukraine. What would you advise NATO to do to help Ukraine in this situation?

What would your advice be?

I believe Nato is exercising great restraint, taking care to avoid a nuclear confrontation.
Putin is a crazy ex-KGB director, the kind that assassinates his critics.

What would the advice be then since the counteroffensive has changed nothing for Ukraine?

And how do you know that?

No advice?? Because they have bearly penetrated the grey zone let alone reach the first line of fortifications

Great, one those, “what would you do” guys, after saying everyone else is wrong.

Did Putin expect resistance? Did he believe there would ever be an attempt at counter offense? Show me.

What has that got to do with ukraines plight today? Winter turned to spring turned to a disastrous summer counter offensive
