Trans-identity has gained some real steam since I 2010 when I argued with Occam

I saw the problems of trans-identity over 10 years ago and found myself in the mix of bigotry by those who refused to discuss such topics. Whatever you believe to be no believe not to be true at what point do you draw the line in your beliefs. If you accept the idea that gender is subjective, then are you willing to accept that other trans-identities are subjective also? At what point do you disagree with the trans argument?

What “trans-argument” are we supposed to disagree with?

Not an issue

What argument are you talking about? I think maybe the issue is more than just Trans-identity. Keep in mind there is an alphabet soup on this issue. My older son (older child), who is 32, considers himself “agender” and his preferred pronouns and nouns are gender neutral. He was afraid to tell me, but I noticed his FB page and asked if there was something he needed to tell me. I told him, he’s still my baby, no matter what and I will always love him [no matter what I may think about gender neutral stuff]. He wears makeup sometimes- so what, so did Prince and Michael Jackson. The list of things continue, but so what. As for his father in Florida, if he ever talks to him again (other issues) he won’t ever tell him, which is a good thing, because his father is more traditional. BTW, if my son were to read this, he’d probably get upset because I’m not using gender neutral words. My point is, I really don’t care how he chooses to dress, but if he were to tell me he was not my son, but rather my daughter, it would take me time to get use to it, because I’ve spent 32 years with a son, but I’d still love him no matter what, because the day he was born and I held him moments after he was born, looking into his eyes, was the most numinous moment I ever had in my life and that kind of love you cannot change. Besides, I’d have the daughter I always wanted but didn’t have, despite having to get use to the changes from what it was for 32 years. Granted, my adult child isn’t transgender, but seeing my child as my son for 32 years, whether I agree or not, as neither male or female, using neutral words, is a difficult adjustment, but I still love him and because I love him, I really don’t care how he dresses or if he wears makeup. I care more about spending time with my family and enjoying that time together than whether or not they see themselves as male or female or neither. So what’s the argument you’re talking about with LGBTQ[xyz] issues/rights? As a parent, I really don’t want to argue about any of it, because my child is my child, and I want to enjoy life with them. Not debate XX and XY or the deformities of XXX, XXY, etc. As long as they are healthy and happy with their choices, than I’m happy too, despite any adjustments I may have to make, whether I agree or not with those choices (or whatever word they want me to use there). It doesn’t matter if I agree or disagree, think it’s silly or not, or who’s been brainwashed by society. As I told my son, as for me, “Let’s introduce ourselves. I am female, always have been, always will be. My preferred pronouns are she, her, herself and my preferred nouns are woman, lady, female. My preferred titles are ma’am, Ms, Mrs, and I am your mother, mama, or mom because I feel birthing person is cold and distant, but I love you no matter what.” He laughed.

I do have a transgender in-law, but any issues between us are her unvoiced ones and again, I really don’t care. It’s her business. As for public restrooms and trans coworkers (I have a couple), as long as everyone minds their business, washes their hands afterwards, and leaves with assaulting anyone (this goes for everyone) I do not care.

Does that help any?

Transgender in itself isn’t an issue, but when they make laws in regards to TG rights then things get sticky real fast.

The list goes on, and it really doesn't end there. If you're willing to say that gender is subjective, then close behind it is race. Yes, now the next step is Trans-racial. So the idea of Trans-Identity goes beyond transgender, and anyone who disagrees will be lambasted the same way anyone who disagreed with the TG ideology.

Mirana I should have done a better job explaining my point. Last night I was tired had meant to go into greater detail when I got back online. The short of it is that I agree with you. I’ve never had a problem with how a person wanted to live their life so long as it made them happy and never hurt any other person. If my son ended up being gay, my only disappointment would be the lack of grandchildren. I’m glad to get your perspective on this though and it’s much appreciated.

You’re welcome, @mitch70. As long as they aren’t hurting anyone and they are happy, is very much how I feel about it. As for if your son decided he were gay, he and his husband could adopt children and then you’d be a grandfather. So it’s not an all or nothing deal, although i do understand that there’s nothing like blood grandchildren.

No, the list does not go on. One can make a list like that for any gender or sexual orientation. There are a lot of strange people in this world, that will do bizarre things.

IMO, if the aberration does not result in someone getting hurt or killed, I am not too concerned about it all. There are more important things to be concerned about, like people not getting a vaccination because they trust some idiot on Facebook more than a genuine scientist who is trying to save their lives. How long is that list?

Let’s back up. How do you define gender? Which ever test you pick, there are problems. Look at the history of the Olympics, they still have not figured out out, and they have resources.

Social Media is the main culprit. It give the trans “community” opportunities it wouldn’t have had otherwise.

There have been several threads about this topic, and I present the same facts over and over. The number of real transgenders is extremely small and the rest are just mentally ill people with an audience online. Shaping any public policy around this tiny population is liberalism run amok.

As for “Transracialism”, it seems to be socially acceptable as long as some popular figure from the race one is pretending to be gives their approval.

I know how I define gender, but it gets a bit complicated since I’ve never seen dolls as girls’ toys and cars as boys’ toys. I’m also told I’m wrong by people who don’t go by science, which seems to be a trend now days (to against the science). Boys and girls can play with dolls, IMO and both can play with cars too. Even in the case of pink and blue, it never matter to me, which is probably why my son says he’s agender now. I never made a federal case out of him having long hair, like his father has, because there was always worse things kids, like his brother, did and do.

I’d really want to post on this but I have to wake up real early tomorrow.

btw

I have to thank the Keymaster who released my post with all the links on it. It took me a long time to gather all the sources that I had seen previously and thought the post would have been shut down.

I disagree, but mental health has been another subject that is not properly addressed in this country.

I'm impressed by your ability to diagnose people remotely

You know reading that I had to chuckle. Isn't it a fact that scientists are still have a very tough time defining life itself? ?

@thatoneguy People who feel they are trans go through a lot of psychological tests before they can get the surgery. Doctors don’t just change their private parts from one gender to another without being sure the patient won’t end up regretting later in life. A person can’t just go in and say, “I want my penis cut off because I’m really a female.” (Please do not take that literally, just explode your drink on the monitor and laugh) They have to live life as they believe they really are for a time, take hormones, all things reversible, before they get the surgery. People can’t just walk in and change their physical gender within one doctor visit.

So why don't they just ask what sex the person is and end the game there? Men have a distinct advantage in sports once they hit puberty and no amount of hormone therapy is going to erase that. These people are just exploiting the system and women are getting screwed.

Let me correct that for you.

Hurt, killed or sued the crap out of.

There are more important things out there, but this doesn’t mean that there can’t be a discussion about it. If all we talked about was how everyone needs to get vaccinated then these forums would get boring REAL quick.

Like to express themselves without being threatened with violence, and being able to keep their jobs?

Who are "these people"? Have you ever met a trans person. Of course you have, but you probably didn't know it. How many young men do you think would simply declare themselves female so they could participate in womens' sports? Where would this get them? Respectable teams would not hire them, so far no one has done that and reached a top level in their sport. The list supplied are the rare cases. The way these men's lives are going to be ruined should be example enough to keep others from doing it.
