And who has shown the violence ? The falsely elected President Trump and his cohorts. But of course they were not the majority choice. They walked in by the back -door electorate, by some archaic law, that should have been repealed and modified long ago, because it does not recognize popular Majority Vote, but Statehood, regardless of population count.
And which party would fight for workers rights; Democrats (those “Socialists”) or Republicans (those “Capitalists”) ?
Your perspective is skewed, even if your goals are noble. Good government can only be achieved by consensus. It takes a special person to forge consensus.
President Biden is making an honest effort to forge consensus, but it is people like you who are preventing even serious discussion of common goals.
Negativity can never produce positive results.
Any other way is bound to fail. Even the term “opposition party” is destructive in concept. The Majority rules, the Minority consents and has an opportunity to shape a true Majority, not by gerrymandering, voter suppression, or other dishonest slight of hand. There is always a way for peaceful settlement of differences.
If you are anti-war then your should also be anti-civil-war. In a civilized society, there is no in exception.
The party’s you mention are reactionary pro big business and are not vehicles for change. Consensus in the current system only matters within ruling class circles. What the public wants doesn’t matter. Look at afganistan. The majority of people support Biden’s decision for withdrawal but you will not get that message from the corporate mass media as they attack this decision and demand it’s reversal on behalf of the MIC that they serve
I’m kind of getting what you’re about. You’re an idealist. Or, you might be someone who gets some sort of pleasure out of hopeless causes. Or you just like telling other people what they should do, from the safety of wherever it is you are. Like I said, “kind of” getting you.
You have obviously never tried to organize a fight like this. I have. people argue, just like the big names we see on TV argue. A minority can be brought to arms and will make sacrifices in the belief of an ideal, but most people are wary of such demagogues. They have seen history play out and the same number of people end up dead, whether they were fighting for liberal or conservative values. The ones who say, “give me the power and weapons, I will create peace” are almost always big fat liars.
Then lets take the money out of politics. IMO. one of the greatest mistakes the Supreme Court made was declaring that money = speech. (Citizens United)
> The 2010 Supreme Court decision further tilted political influence toward wealthy donors and corporations.
Money is speech alright, but it binds the recipient by a quid pro quo written contract or verbal agreement to reciprocate in kind. Money is defined as “a means of exchange”.
Take the money out of Politics!!! That is an old Native American Law that should have been adopted into the Constitution, along with the practice of representative government.
In 1744, the Onondaga leader Canassatego gave a speech urging the contentious 13 colonies to unite, as the Iroquois had at the signing of the Treaty of Lancaster. This cultural exchange inspired the English colonist Benjamin Franklin to print Canassatego’s speech.
“We heartily recommend Union and a good Agreement between you our Brethren,” Canassatego had said. “Never disagree, but preserve a strict Friendship for one another, and thereby you, as well as we, will become the stronger. Our wise Forefathers established Union and Amity between the Five Nations; this has made us formidable; this has given us great Weight and Authority with our neighboring Nations. We are a powerful Confederacy; and, by your observing the same Methods our wise Forefathers have taken, you will acquire fresh Strength and Power; therefore whatever befalls you, never fall out one with another.”
He used a metaphor that many arrows cannot be broken as easily as one. This inspired the bundle of 13 arrows held by an eagle in the Great Seal of the United States.
An informed citizenry. Instead of complaining, try to inform the citizenry on the issues.
Next vote they may just look for that candidate who offers real reform, like Obama care (ACA) which insured 20 million people against the 70 attempts by the Republicans to repeal it.
Efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act
The Tuesday, February 2, 2016 vote, with a tally of 241–186, was the 63rd attempt by the House. After the July 27, 2017 vote on the Health Care Freedom Act, Newsweek "found at least 70 Republican-led attempts to repeal, modify or otherwise curb the Affordable Care Act since its inception as law on March 23, 2010."
I like Biden’s Child Tax credit payable monthly. It lifted about 50% of children out of poverty. You should like those laws, right? If you do, sing their praises and inform the people which leader is offering these common social benefits, that provides opportunity for all citizens to live a decent productive life.
The last thing we want to do is throw out the baby with the bathwater.
I was a member of AFSCME. We fought a change in the contract that’s too detailed for me explain. It was a difficult vote to decide to strike, and luckily they gave in with a sort of compromise that still created bad feelings and we lost a lot of members.
djtexas, we already have a workers party, a libertarian party, a Socialist party, a Democratic Socialist party, a Green Party, a Communist party, and more that I haven’t even mention. We only look like we have only a two party system because in most states that all that’s gets on the ballot, except maybe an independent or two. However, we do have more than two parties in this country.
You’re right djtexas, we do do the facepalm when it comes to you.
In all honesty, I really do not believe you have ever worked for what you believe concerning government. I have. I worked on the Obama campaign and not ashamed to say so. I worked hard with others to get him elected- not once but twice. What have you done, besides support the dotard, who, btw, told more lies than any other politician in history was worse than Do Nothing president, Calvin Coolidge, a Repug also.
A mix of people not even born when taliban in power, govt staff, collaborators with the US and those that want to leave a country bombed back to the stone age
