Rednecks Were Taken in by a Carpetbagger like Trump

Wow, they were committed to their parody. They re-did the lyrics of just about the entire song.

Spoiler alert if you haven’t listened to it, yet. It is about a famous ignoramous.

@citizenschallengev3 I wasn’t thinking in that direction, but it works for me. It let’s me know that I’m not the only one who really wants this dotard out of office. Many of us here want him out, but outside our circle, there is definitely more.

Very good indications from the South Carolina primary in that turnout was so high, Donald Trump will lose by at least ten percentage points in November. The 2016 was an anomaly and has no chance of being repeated. Voter apathy played a large part in what happened in that election because the democratic nominee seemed incapable of inspiring people to vote for her. Now, Americans are reminded every day of what follows when by default they become complacent and not involved in safeguarding democracy. It’s somewhat similar to when a certain toy that a child hasn’t played with for months is suddenly taken away and though the child showed no previous interest, the thought of losing it becomes unbearable. What’s that song by Joni Mitchell? “Oh it always seems that you don’t know you’ve got till it’s gone.”

There’s no way to predict the future, and I remember confidently predicting that George Bush would never be re-elected, so I think on election night I have two things within arms reach; a bottle of champagne and a loaded revolver. I’ll either wake up happily with a hangover or not at all.

My worry is, people might be too sick to get out and vote come election day. California might be too sick to vote come Super Tuesday.

Yeah, but I’ve seen this movie before. Democrats get energized when things get bad, and they go right back into apathy when they are not so bad. They, and I guess I have to include me in that, don’t get it that defending democracy has to happen every day. The poor are disenfranchised and cut out of the process, the educated middle don’t have to confront the problems on a daily basis, the rich make sure it stays that way.

Yes Mr Lausten, that’s the inherent problem in all liberal democracies, they strive to be inclusive and lift all up into a better life. That requires an informed electorate to keep things equitable and fair to all. Reactionary conservative governments and administrations are not encumbered by such considerations. Things like disproportionate wealth, environmental havoc, or oppressive poverty mean nothing to them. I’d rather struggle in a noble effort than succeed in one that’s self serving.

I agree with both and I believe President Obama was an example of the Energized effort and Trump of the opposite, without severe lash back from Democrats. I just ran across this article;

Did Trump Create or Inherit the Strong Economy?

Obama was handed an economic catastrophe—and prevented an even greater meltdown When Barack Obama became president, the economy was experiencing what former Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke called “the worst financial crisis in global history, including the Great Depression.”

2 In the last quarter of 2008, real GDP plummeted 8.4 percent and the economy hemorrhaged more than 1.9 million jobs.

3 Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats took strong action to rescue the economy, including the stimulus, TARP, financial reform and the auto bailout. In addition, the Federal Reserve lowered interest rates and took extraordinary measures to boost growth.
Research by economists Alan Blinder and Mark Zandi found that without this multi-faceted response, the recession would have lasted twice as long, job losses would have been twice as high and the drop in GDP would have been more than three times worse.

4 Trump inherited a strong economy that got stronger · Unemployment: Under Obama, unemployment was cut from a recession-peak of 10 percent to only 4.7 percent. It has continued to drop and now is extremely low at 3.6 percent.

5 Job growth: By the end of the Obama administration, the economy had experienced 76 consecutive months of job growth. Since Trump became president, the streak has been extended to 109 consecutive months.
Average monthly job growth: During the last 33 months of the Obama administration, nonfarm job growth averaged 224,000 per month. During the first 33 months of the Trump administration, the average was 34,000 jobs per month less.
GDP growth: Average real GDP growth was roughly the same (2.6 percent) for the first 11 quarters under President Trump (ending Sept. 2019) and for the last 11 quarters of the Obama administration.

Income: During the last two years of the Obama administration, annual median household income increased 4,800.Thisisthreetimesmorethanthe1,400 increase during the first two years of the Trump administration.

Page 2 · The stock market: President Trump frequently points to the stock market as evidence of his success, even though it is a poor proxy for the nation’s overall economic well-being since nearly half of Americans do not own stock, either directly or indirectly. However, even by this measure, he lags behind President Obama. Between President Trump’s Inauguration Day and November 2019, the Dow Jones Average increased more than 40 percent, while over the eight years of the Obama administration, the DJIA increased almost 150 percent – a substantially greater pace.

Yet there are people who actually believe the grand lie that the Obama era was the worst presidency ever. This is a direct result of an apathetic and uninformed citizenry. Is it wonder that the rich keep taking advantage ? People will believe anything they’re being told often enough by slick con-artists.
