Putin underestimates Ukrainian toughness, resourcefulness, humor

You’re ignoring my answers. I didn’t acknowledge your conclusion. You are looking for headlines that confirm your bias, and ignoring many other facts, even though they are listed in this thread.

This is wrong?

Many Russians Support Ukraine Peace Talks but Not Letting Territory Go

Three months. I personally doubt opinions change that fast, but he wants to put out Russian propaganda, I guess.

I wouldn’t call it propaganda, but the headline is just that, a one-sentence summary of a complicated situation. He also seems confused about who Levada is and how the numbers were gathered. Just downloading the PDF and reading the opening paragraph, it starts with “but…” He shows no interest in engaging in any of the conversations beyond the headline, even the narrative that is in the link that he wanted me to find.

In politics, there aren’t “objective truths” in the same way they exist in science. There aren’t peer-reviewed studies, there are polls that may or may not reflect the feelings of millions of people. In both cases, there are facts behind the conclusions, but in science, there is consensus, and in politics, there are opinions that compete for the attention of audiences and populations.

Some of the subtle hints in the full report:

“The Kremlin’s tight control over traditional media sources continues to influence Russian support toward the military operation, especially among those who most trust television news…”

“Those who use a VPN to access the internet are significantly less likely to express strong support for the military operation (28%) …”

“A majority (56%) think the action will worsen Russia’s relations with the West, though previous polling suggests that even if this is the case, it is not much of a concern for everyday Russians. More say it will worsen than improve the economic welfare of Russians and the economic situation in the country. And as many say it will worsen as say it will improve Russia’s political influence in the world.”

"The ratio increases to 6 to 3 in favor of peace negotiations when the question frames negotiations as “to avoid the loss of life of more Russian soldiers.”

" Conclusion

Taken together, the data show that the majority support among Russians for the military operation in Ukraine is softer than it might seem at first glance."

Can you put a response together?

Let me put it another way for you- do you reject the claim that many Russians Support Ukraine Peace Talks but Not Letting Territory Go?

And its Chicago Council-Levada Center survey. Get it right

I agree that Russian support is not as strong as doof thinks. The Ukrainians hopefully can continue to fight to keep their country intact and not lose any of it to Putin.

He did. You should trying reading and thinking about what others share.

Why are you demanding answers to questions, we aren’t in a position to answer.

Like what pipeline do you think Lausten ought to have into “the real” Russian state of mind?
What about you, why not answer: Do you believe a couple hundred thousand, perhaps many more younger Russians have been fleeing Russia? What do you think that’s telling us distant spectators?

So its agreed that the majority of russian do not want to let go of territory gained??

No it’s not and that is not what CitizensChallengev4 said.

Thanks for staying that so clearly. Chicago is working with Levada, Levada did the interviews, Russians interviewing Russians.

I’ve answered your question in a number of ways. It’s not a yes/no question

Yes it is wrong.

If I take your house and you resist, I am in favor of Peace Talk But Not Letting The House Go.

Are you insane?

I’m watching a pregnant Ukranian getting interviewed right now. She said, “it’s scary that in this century, people still think that war is worth something”

I’ve been dancing around that, but yeah, the headline itself is paradoxical. I think the Chicago Council is being diplomatic, presenting the Russian data charitably, and letting the reader see the problems with it.

key findings

Three-quarters of Russians actively or passively support the Russian military operation in Ukraine (74%).

  • But an increasing percentage are unsure of the reasons behind the ongoing military action and what benefits it might bring to the country.
  • A narrow majority of 53 percent of Russians think the operation in Ukraine has been successful, compared to 31 percent who say it has been unsuccessful.
  • By a 5 to 4 ratio, Russians think their government should start peace negotiations (53% vs. 41%) over continuing the special military operation.
  • When Russians are reminded of the costs associated with the war, they also express a preference for negotiations. Russians prefer peace negotiations over continued fighting that would bring the deaths of more Russian soldiers (62% vs. 31%) or higher prices for Russian households (53% vs. 41%).
  • Despite some support for negotiations, the territorial concessions that Russia would likely be asked to make are unpopular. Solid majorities say it is unacceptable for Russia to return Crimea (78%) or the occupied Donbas region to Ukraine (66%).

Its wrong that many russian support peace?

Who gives a hoot what Russians think? It’s not their land. Stay the hell off it!!!
I don’t see any Ukrainians agreeing with that sentiment, do you?

And what do you mean by “passively support”? Do you mean these Russians are scared to disagree, lest they join their comrades in jail?

You are a real piece of work mister. Go away and stop your false propaganda.

You literally dropped a word to change the meaning of the headline. Supporting peace talks is not the same as supporting peace. Peace talks went on for years in Korea and Vietnam before the war ended. It depends on what you come to the table for, and how you negotiate.

Me!!! I would like to know !!!

You arrive at peace when you first talk. There were no peacetalk in vietnam. The US escalated the war as it progressed just as they are in Ukraine today. Any real peace talks with the enemy of corporate america gets you assassinated by the CIA as JFK found out.

Why ?
Does you knowing anything make any difference in the crimes against humanity, that are being waged by Putin against the Ukrainian people?
Are you blind, that you need to know anything more than what you see?

Where in Hell do you come from that you wonder about approval to slaughter an entire nation? Russia is no better than a pandemic plague that needs to be eradicated at the source.
