Rep. Liz Cheney’s full opening statement in House investigation of Jan. 6PBS NewsHour
Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., addressed the House select committee appointed to investigate the violent Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol during its first hearing July 27. Members of the Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Capitol Police testified about the violence and fear they experienced that day, and how the attack has continued to affect them.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has promised the committee will “get to the truth” of what happened during the storming of the Capitol, which killed at least five people, and followed a rally where former President Donald Trump repeated false claims of voter fraud and a stolen election as he urged crowds protesting the results of the election to head to the Capitol to take a stand against “this egregious assault on our democracy.”
The committee includes seven Democrats and two Republicans, appointed by Pelosi. Republicans, who have been wary of crossing former President Donald Trump, have criticized the process. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy recently withdrew the names of five GOP appointees after Pelosi rejected the participation of two of them.
In relation to the investigation into the attack on the Capitol, Pelosi has made one retreat after another in an effort to accommodate the Republicans.
In keeping with the Biden administration’s mantra of “bipartisanship” and “unity” with “our Republican colleagues,” the Democrats crippled their own impeachment drive by refusing to call any witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial of the still sitting coup plotter Trump.
"It just is so clear that Republicans don't care what happened to the Capitol police." Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfcfHgyB1RA
Over the past six months, the Democrats have suppressed a series of damning revelations exposing the deliberate stand-down of the U.S. Capitol Police and the presence of fascistic elements among both the commanders and the ranks
the Democrats have suppressed a series of damning revelations -- DJThis is an easy one. You can show us the facts, the damning revelations, although most of us here know those facts, then show us the "suppression". Show us the Democrats saying those facts are false, or show us who revealed the facts first, this should not be hard. If you can't, you are just blowing smoke.
they delayed the dispatch of troops for more than three hours, allowing the fascists to rampage through the Capitol in search of elected officials to kidnap or kill. They authorized the deployment only after it had become clear that the attack had failed in its
Already Pelosi’s bias was shown when she promoted the failed Capitol Police intel chief to the acting head of Capitol Police. Pelosi also did not fire Chad Thomas for a full 6 months after Jan 6.
Thomas, who has been with the Capitol Police since 1996, had a significant role in planning for Jan. 6, when protesters disrupted the counting of electoral votes with an attack on the Capitol. That involved staffing, schedules, SWAT team instructions and security perimeter matters.
On Jan. 6, Thomas directed officers not to use all available equipment, such as heavier less-than-lethal weapons and corresponding munitions that included two types of grenade launchers and sting-ball grenades.
The Capitol Police failed to widely circulate information its own intelligence unit had collected as early as mid-December about the threat of violence on Jan. 6, including a report that said right-wing extremist groups and supporters of President Donald J. Trump had been posting online and in far-right chat groups about gathering at the Capitol, armed with weapons, to pressure lawmakers to overturn his election loss.
“If they don’t show up, we enter the Capitol as the Third Continental Congress and certify the Trump Electors,” one post said.
“Bring guns. It’s now or never,” said another.
Parler alleges in the letter that it began to reach out to the FBI about “alarming content that included specific threats of organized violence at the US Capitol” as early as December 24, including a post from a user who explicitly called for an armed force of 150,000 to gather to “react to” what Congress did that day.
On January 2, Parler said, it likewise forwarded to the FBI a series of posts from a user writing that the planned event on January 6 “is not a rally and it’s no longer a protest. This is the final stand… I trust the American people will take back the USA with force and many are ready to die.”
I know all that, except the part where Pelosi can fire someone. You haven’t shown Democrat responsibility
It didn’t take long to figure out who Tex is channeling this time:

Fact check: Nancy Pelosi wasn't ‘in charge’ of Capitol Police on Jan. 6 Ella Lee, USA TODAY, July 27, 2021Fact check:Post falsely claims Pelosi is blocking Capitol Police officers from testifying
The claim that Pelosi was in charge of the U.S. Capitol Police during the insurrection has circulated both online and offline for months. On July 21 , U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, floated the claim after Pelosi rejected his appointment to the Jan. 6 special committee.
“Why wasn’t there a proper security presence at the Capitol that day?” Jordan asked at a news conference. “Only one person can answer that question. Only one. The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.”
Starting to wonder if Tex is nothing more than a trump troll?

The Dems didn’t do this. The dotard did. Keep in mind, he also wanted He Who Is Not Worth His Name killed for not changing the vote to re-elect him as dictator.
It’s the typical supremacists behavior. Blame the victim for the crime, and never ever ever admit to any culpability.
This one’s for Tex: Trumpist Gaslighting Of January 6 Shattered By Committee Testimony
The Democrats oppose any serious fight against Trump and fascism for fear of the already rising tide of working-class militancy and resistance. That, however, is the real basis for defeating the danger of fascism and dictatorship.
For the ruling class factions especially the Democrats and the Pseudo Left the rising working class current under these conditions is a far more menacing threat then Trump’s fascistic lunatics
The Democrats oppose any serious fight -- djtexasNo kidding. Did you read 1984? We are given the appearance of two parties, but neither one has been for the working class in quite some time. The occasional bone is thrown their way, one side calls it welfare, the other calls it opportunity, neither one changes much. I'm not holding my breath for a worker's revolution either.
Pelosi does not retreat in surrender, but in personal and political acquiescence to Republican demands and vision, that her Democrates share fully

Funny that that’s the same question the provocateur Jim Jordan is constantly asking. Although in fairness Jim Jordan is desperately trying to point the attention away from his own actions.
Cheney can always become a “Biden Republican.”
"Trump Derangement Syndrome" says the Republican Congressional "Freedom Caucus" the white supremacist wing of Trump's Republican Party. This is how the GOP view anyone who hasn't bought into trump's criminal enterprise.
Here we have an example of how totalitarians behave when they don’t get their way.
Trump loyalists on the Hill want Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger out of the House GOP Caucus. Plus, House Republicans staged a protest over mask mandates on the Hill. Michael Steele and Juanita Tolliver have some thoughts about all of that.
Why don’t you start a new thread for student loan forgiveness - why are tossing that video into this thread about Liz Cheney?
Tex is this the best you got?
Oh and yeah, the Democrats are their own worst enemy. Now, can you tell us something we don’t know?
How are we going to fix that?
