House Republicans voted, via voice vote, to remove Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney as GOP Conference Chair. Joy says, “Cheney isn’t in this for her political ambition, fighting Trump isn’t gonna win her any republican prizes. She’s in it to salvage what’s left of her party, and more importantly, to fight for our democracy.”

REP. LIZ CHENEY:I have had the conference meeting. I am absolutely committed, as I said last night, and as I said just now to my colleagues, that we must go forward based on truth. We cannot both embrace the big lie and embrace the Constitution. And going forward, the nation needs it. The nation needs a strong Republican Party. The nation needs a party that is based upon fundamental principles of conservatism. I am committed and dedicated to ensuring that that’s how this party goes forward. And I plan to lead the fight to do that.

REPORTER:How concerned are you that former President Trump might end up back in the Oval Office?

REP. CHENEY:I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office. We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language. We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution. And I think it is very important that we make sure whomever we elect is somebody who will be faithful to the Constitution.

REPORTER:Congresswoman, do you feel betrayed by today’s vote?

REP. CHENEY: I do not. I think that it is an indication of where the Republican Party is. I think that the party is in a place that we have got to bring it back from, and we’ve got to get back to a position where we are a party that can fight for conservative principles, that can fight for substance. We cannot be dragged backward by the very dangerous lies of a former president. Thank you.

I wonder when we are going to use the term “sedition” to describe what Trump and the new GOP are advocating.

I believe “sedition” is a crime just short of pure treason.

Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent toward, or insurrection against, established authority. Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws. Seditious words in writing are seditious libel. I never thought much of Liz Cheney because of her political view. But when it comes to being a real American patriot who believes in our system of government, and is willing to stand up she’s wonderful.

It seems that Liz Cheney is the only Republican not possessed by the Trump demon. If there are other honest brokers, they are afraid to speak up lest they incur the wrath of the Demon, like VP Pence did while still in office.

In his July 13 speech in Philadelphia, Biden cited the passage of 28 laws by Republican-controlled states restricting the ability of poor and working class voters to cast ballots and making it easier for state legislatures to overturn election results certified by local election officials. He linked this systematic assault on voting rights to Donald Trump’s attempted coup of January 6, calling it the greatest threat to American democracy since the Civil War.

Since then, however, Biden and the Democratic leadership have made it clear that they will take no meaningful action to override Republican opposition to passage of voting rights legislation in the evenly divided Senate.

Wake up to what? That Liz isn’t a saint? We do the best we have with what we got. And right now she’s got the cojones to say important things no one else in power is willing to.

You remind me of people who voted for Nader, because Gore wasn’t perfect enough for them. See what they accomplished.

DJ could just say “do your own research” every post and be contributing at the same level he is currently. He seems to be here simply to tell us what we should be reading, thinking about it, how we aren’t “woke” or maybe “too woke”, hard to tell. This thread is one of the more extreme cases. I assume he will get increasingly belligerent and start blatantly breaking rules, besides the current trolling. I know he doesn’t see it as deliberate trolling, but it is.

What you say about her stance on voter suppression laws is plenty well documented.

Speaking to Axios reporter Jonathan Swan, Cheney claimed that the link to the "Big Lie" has nothing to do with the changes to voting rules.

“I will never understand the resistance, for example, to voter ID,” Cheney said. “There’s a big difference between that and a president of the United States who loses an election after he tried to steal the election and refuses to concede.”

Swan appeared to be saying, “you can’t be serious,” with his face.


So another politician with conflicting ideas swimming around in her head. Imagine that. I’m shocked, simply shocked. So let’s ignore her, even if she’s about the only Republican with the backbone to tell trump where to get off. Yippy. Where will that get us?

You’re the classic fool on the hill screaming out look over there instead of the direction that really matters - forward.

 

If voter suppression succeeds across the nation it will be as a result minimal to no democrat resistance with thier party apologists looking in the rear view mirror with all attention focused on Jan 6th and elevating certain Republicans to that of a friend instead of an enemy as they actively work towards destroying you.

Republicans - trump or a trumpest will win the 2022 2024 elections if you don’t all WAKE UP.

DJ, my personal viewpoint of Liz.

Liz only got elected because she said she would protect the oil, coal, and gas production in Wyoming. Which is understandable. And good.

But as anyone with two cents of knowledge about Exxon, Rosneft and Eni and how Clinton stole the mineral rights of the Ukraine Russian farmers then got Ukraine to package them for sale. Liz is Exxon’s lady.

The political force of Biden, Kerry, Clinton and the ultra-rich. No wonder when Ukraine and Russia were fighting, Obama would send shoes but no guns.

Trump sure messed it up for the group. But even in the sanctions against Russia by Trump. Liz and Kerry were able to get exceptions for Exxon drilling in the disputed Ukraine territory-controlled by Russia with Russian contracts, not Ukraine contracts.

And now the pipeline. What good is it to have an oil field if you have no cheap transportation method.

How much oil and gas are we talking about? Some geologists say could be more than was in Saudi Arabia. Trillions of dollars.

But that gas and oil would have to be shipped or piped through Ukraine. Strike that. Not any more the pipeline for Russia pipeline was just approved. Liz and the group are playing you all for fools.

This goes back to the late 80’ with Chernobyl becoming the piggy bank for American politicians. In 2012 Exxon asking Hillary’s state department to get permits for drilling. 2014 to work with the Russians to continual to drill in Back Sea as the Ukraine conflict erupts. 2016 Uranium deal with Russia and the 100M to the Clinton foundation was not about the Uranium One. It was about the real money – oil and gas of the Black Sea area. The last major undiscovered oil field in the world.

I forgot to add George Soros. You know the guy who was taking care of the Russian Black Sea fleet back in 2000. Involved in almost all the major oil field movements. Backer of Brazilian oil Petrobras and Kurdistan oil.

And Obama’s State and Justice Departments assisted the billionaire and democrat donor in an attempt to control Ukraine’s oil in 2017.

Sad to see so many people being played by the upper caste.
