Political Optics

You can aggravate critters or persons for only so long and to only some level before they strike back. When people snap and attack in defence they use what they have the way they know to use it. Nancy has been provoking far right folks for years. No surprise to me that someone went to her home. That type of guy sees the communist, socialist, queer, eco-freak agenda as a threat to his world; it is personal, not some ideologically abstract political game. Hard to believe they didn’t recognize the potential for violence.

The reason the 2020 election was stolen was not the vote counting. It was the ballot gathering. Unless you are willing to ID every voter on the actual ballot (and wind up with a trace to how they voted) people are not going to accept ballots gathered from unsecured locations. Of course the remote and unsecured ballot boxes were stuffed by the Dems. You won’t convince people that you achieved 98% turnout any other way.

The reason the 2016 election was stolen by Trump was not from voter fraud or counting.
Hillary received almost 3 million more votes than Trump. He won the election coming in through the backdoor.

Trump has never won anything fair and square. He is a perennial loser.

On Election Day, Trump over-performed his polls, winning several key swing states, while losing the popular vote by 2.87 million votes.[19]

For the last time, the election was NOT stolen. Nancy wasn’t trying to provoke anyone and there was no cause for anyone to go to her home and assault her husband.

No, the dotard ideology serves the brainwashed nutters well.

Really? Mail in ballots are secure.

You really do believe the propaganda, don’t you?

If you want to get real, the dotard and his Repug cronies stoled the election in 2016, not President Biden or the dems. To believe the dems stoled it, is to believe propaganda.

That’s the first thing you’ve said that’s true.

Yes, Democrats live by the rules everyone has agreed on. It is the Republicans who are the sore losers and won’t accept they lost fair and square by both popular vote and the electoral college.

So then zip up the mouth that 2016 was stolen unless of course you are a sore loser

Except no one is above the law, not even the dotard. He and his cronies really do need to go prison for the crimes they’ve committed.

Then put them in gaol!!! Its not happening!!

I hopefully will happen, but I can’t do it myself. That’s up to the special council and 1/6 committee. BTW, “gaol” is an obsolete word in the English language and a jail is not quite the same as a prison.

Ever since Gingrich started his scorched earth politics of hostility and setting his GOP party on a war footing.

This is the result of the DNC and your general liberal types not recognizing what was going on with the Rush Limbaughs, and detestable shock jocks and morning indoctrination, the campaigns of lies & slander to delegitimize solid science for the mass, etc.

ibelieveinlogic is an excellent example of such a ‘brick in the wall’ so to speck. They need to believe the worst of us, otherwise their self-identity is threatened or something.

Liberal types were never really working on changing minds, things were good, who cared what the God fearing, self-serving were doing.

While that other side on the other hand, has been feverishly fabricating a war mentality with ever refined brainwashing technics to collect the susceptible lost into passionate loyal warriors.

While Democrats did little more than repeat the same platitude, without ever striving to make their case to a hostile public. Seems like they still haven’t learned anything.

No, that was only in response to the claim that the 2020 election was stolen, wich it was not but Trump refused to accept the will of the people in accordance to the rules and started an insurrection that made the ex-president a traitor according to the law.

They do that. Mail in or drop box ballots require an outer envelope that has the voter’s name and signature. They are verified against signature on file. To “stuff” the box, those would have to be fraudulent. After that, the ballot goes on to be counted, so it is secret, just like voting on person. Counts of how many came in, and how many total votes there are, are maintained.

And in most states, including Colorado, we get to go to a website and see if our ballot was received by the county clerk.
Beyond that,

Marjorie Taylor Greene tells crowd if she had organized Jan. 6 ‘we would have won’

Dec 12, 2022

CNN political commentators John Avlon and Errol Lewis discuss recent comments from GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after the congresswoman suggested that if she had been in charge of the crowds attacking the US Capitol on January 6, they would have been armed and won.

The crazy is ramping up.

https://www.axios.com/2022/12/09/marjorie-taylor-greene-maga-congress-mccarthy

Why it matters: Greene has a playbook to follow from another bombastic outsider who climbed the ranks within the House GOP, moving from a fringe conservative to a key party player who now serves in leadership — Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).

  • “Jim and I talk frequently … we’re similar thinkers,” Greene told Axios about Jordan, a co-founder of the House Freedom Caucus and longtime antagonist of GOP leadership.
  • Jordan was one of the first high-profile members to publicly support Greene when she first ran for office, and she continues to seek his advice, sources familiar with their relationship tell Axios.

The big picture: Greene is betting that backing up McCarthy in his time of dire need will pave a path to legitimacy and power if he becomes speaker.

  • She’s increasingly drawing herself closer to the establishment without abandoning her bombastic rhetoric and contentious ideology.
  • “I think that to be the best speaker of the House and to please the base, he’s going to give me a lot of power and a lot of leeway,” Greene told The New York Times in October, weeks before McCarthy’s ambitions of becoming speaker were dampened by Republicans’ underwhelming performance in the midterm elections.
  • She insists that she hasn’t “been promised anything”: “I’ve asked for committee positions, but I’m not doing it with a guaranteed deal,” Greene told Axios.

Unlike former House Republican Speakers, like John Boehner and Paul Ryan, McCarthy has brought many ultra-conservative figures into the fold. …

It seems to me, there are a LOT of sick Repugs in office and they all need to be removed from office.

Seems to me a lot of people should be thinking about these things, the right is in a ruthless war against the anyone who doesn’t think like them. And it’s real and their passions are only growing, liberals, intellectuals, need to wake up that not everyone lives by their splendid ideals. That doesn’t mean, we should turn rotten, but we sure as hell gotta stop kidding ourselves about what’s going on. And the need for a passionate engaging with the disgusting world of politics, because your government is still under threat of hostile take over bids by various ultra rich, sociopathic christian militants and white supremacists and misogynists.

The January 6th Report drops with a blueprint for The Department of Justice on how to indict former President Trump and the alleged coup plotters. In this special report, MSNBC Chief Legal Correspondent Ari Melber walks through the January 6th Committee’s exhaustive, meticulous mountain of evidence and how close they came to pulling off a coup that would have “ended democracy and the rule of law as we know it.” Melber says it’s time for Garland to weigh that evidence without fear or favor to the people involved adding there is a “disturbing double standard in Merrick Garland’s Justice Dept. where the lawyers and the connected and the powerful… are held to a different, lower standard than the people who rushed the Capitol.

Chris Hayes: It is so grimly fitting that this is happening on January 6. We are in this position precisely because the Republicans refused to stamp out MAGA extremism after the insurrection. When it was clear to all how dangerous it was. Instead, they lost control of it.
