Political Optics

Don’t count on it.

There was a comment about his rally in Ohio this past weekend that all that was missing was the Kool-Aid.

I wondered if it would be a Ken Kesey or Jim Jones drink.

They need to pass the torch to those who are not neoliberals, which is the default thing for democrats.

Wrong again! Trump did not hold any office until the presidency and even that he won by a technicality. He turned out to be the worst president in the entire history of the US. A criminal who sought to turn the nation’s economy into his personal source of income. He will go down in world history along with Putin, and all the other despicables that had dreams of ruling the world

BIDEN’S YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC SERVICE ARE SECOND TO ONE

Joe Biden served six terms as a Senator, a total of 36 years, making him the 18th longest-serving Senator; had he not been Vice President, Biden most likely would have served a seventh term until 2014, and might now be finishing an eighth, which would have made a total of 48 years. This would put him behind only Robert Byrd of West Virginia (51 and a half years) and Daniel Inouye of Hawaii (nearly 50 years).

While in the Senate, Biden served as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee from 1987-1995 and as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 2001-2003 and 2007-2009. He was a headliner in the news during controversial Supreme Court nominations under Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

Biden made two unsuccessful attempts to run for President in 1987 and 2008. He served as Vice President under President Barack Obama for two terms, and was extremely engaged, active and influential, in a manner unlike any other Vice President, except Walter Mondale (1977-1981) under President Jimmy Carter.

So, among American presidents, Joe Biden surpasses all but John Quincy Adams in years of service to his country. Yesterday, Biden fulfilled the dream of his son and became the 46th President of the United States.

And you dare compare Trump to that stellar career?

As far as political optics you are totally vision impaired.

   That is just too funny. As well as stupid.

What’s wrong with neoliberals? I like AOC and alike. I see nothing wrong with what they are trying to do.

One more thing, the dotard never had any political experience prior to occupying the Big House. He was also in his 70s and as I was saying, no one in their 70s or older should be holding office. That includes him. I was saying it then too, even though I favoured Bernie. I still felt that if Bernie was going to become president, he needed someone in their 50s as VP to take over in case something happened to him. Even then I wasn’t too keen on the idea because of his age. Younger, he’d been perfect.

Of course. He saw the word “classified” and thought it was an ad in the Classifieds in the Nickelsworth.

Yup! Sounds like what he’d think. The man is demented.

Demented and malicious and hateful and sadistic.

NPR’s Danielle Kurtzleben speaks with professor Lilliana Mason about a recent study she co-authored entitled “Activating Animus: The Uniquely Social Roots of Trump Support.”

DANIELLE KURTZLEBEN, HOST:

Discussions about Donald Trump’s voter base and what motivated them is a beloved topic among pundits. But as time goes on, we’re getting more and more data that sheds light on what some of those motivations are.
A recent study published in the American Political Science Review found that animus towards Democratic-linked minority groups in 2011, like African Americans and Muslims, is a strong predictor of Trump support in later years. The study is called “Activating Animus: The Uniquely Social Roots of Trump Support,” and Lilliana Mason is one of its co-authors. She’s a political scientist at Johns Hopkins University, and she’s here to talk more about these findings. Welcome, Lilliana.

They are not liberal. They say they are, then they say we need to transfer more money to the rich to implement their programs. “Supply Side Economics” is the blatant statement that you give to the rich to help the poor. Both of them are total lies and have been proven to be failures over the last 40 years. Neither philosophy looked on paper.

I’d be curious to hear oneguy’s definitions, but those are always vague and disappointing. Sorry One, it’s a sore spot. Someone once called me neoliberal, and I told him I wasn’t and tried to give my understanding of the word. He said, “words are defined by how they are used, and he was using the word, therefore he was defining it.” I think he also believed he could control the weather with his mind.

I’ve noticed the pattern too, so I’ll assume crickets and move on with the theme of this thread: “POLITICAL OPTICS”
The strange case of Tina Forte exposes the deep core of dishonesty and self-righteous hypocrisy that’s taken over the GOP’s MAGA-mindset.

GOP’s message to the people:
WE’RE PRO LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR THEM, BUT NOT WHEN IT COMES TO US.

Longtime Republican opponent of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Tina Forte has called left-wing lawmakers “creators of the crime wave” — but in fact the GOP nominee’s own family was part of the surge in illegal activity she lamented.

AOC rival Tina Forte’s husband and son were caught by FBI in drug and gun bust at Bronx family warehouse

But wait, there’s more:

AOC Challenger Tina Forte Promoted and Attended Jan. 6 Capitol Riot

In this special investigation, Snopes found that the apparent QAnon believer livestreamed to Facebook Live the day of the attack on the U.S. Capitol.

… We found Forte repeatedly used hashtags related to QAnon conspiracy theories. The QAnon mentions even included cries of “Save the Children,” referring to the debunked conspiracy theory that makes claims of mass pedophilia and “Satanic blood-drinking” by Democrats. She took multiple photographs in October, November, and December 2020 with far-right Proud Boys leader Henry “Enrique” Tarrio.

Further, we uncovered evidence that Forte pushed false election conspiracy theories, including the phrase “Stop the Steal.”

Forte’s accounts that pushed potentially dangerous content were still active months later on Facebook, Instagram (which is owned by Facebook), Twitter, and YouTube. Even more striking was the fact that Forte herself attended the Capitol riot, where she livestreamed on Facebook. She took selfies with a number of attendees who considered her a “superstar.” In a live video, she urged people at then-U.S. President Donald Trump’s rally on the Ellipse to make their way to the Capitol. We even found that she entered a restricted area after the crowd knocked down barriers that law enforcement installed. …

OK so why does that sound like AOC’s rival is actually tied to her? If they are rivals, they aren’t hanging together, so why is AOC’s name even involved in the title?

And in all those years Biden hasn’t accomplished one thing. He is nothing but a sack of bland mush.

Using liberal values to make money is my definition – which is close enough to the actual definition.

They are very liberal. They’re actually a lot like you but you’re too sheltered to notice.

lol Too sheltered as in drowning in Dumpster people? I live in Dotard Land. I’m a loner in a crowd of Dumpster people, so I keep my mouth shut in public and don’t wear my Plan Parenthood T-shirt in public either. I really hate this area, but my husband doesn’t want to live where I was living before we got married, where my family is, because he wants to be near his family. Married life.

As I said “Totally optically impaired” and you just keep proving me right.

As compared to Trump.

plus 1 giant tax cut that benefitted The Trump family and a bunch of other rich people.

Mexico didn’t pay a penny toward that Grand Wall that turned out to be a couple of hundred miles and millions of tax dollars disappeared .

Brian Kolfage admitted to pocketing hundreds of thousands of dollars while promising all donations would pay for the wall. His plea came a month before a trial in a case that began in dramatic fashion in August 2020, when Bannon was pulled from a luxury yacht off the coast of Connecticut and arrested on allegations that he and three others ripped off donors trying to fund a southern border wall.

Bannon was pardoned by Trump just before he left office last year. Bannon had pleaded not guilty to charges he pocketed over $1m, using some of the money to secretly pay Kolfage, a 39-year-old air force veteran who lost both legs in a mortar attack in Iraq.

So who is the weasel and sack of orange mush now?

Oneguy - how incredible is it that a person who claims to be a progessive has asked this question? We have witness to the devasting outcomes from the thatcher Reagan years to now of globalisation, de- regulation and privatisation only to be insulted with such a question on trickle down economics

I see war, tax cuts, low wages, increase in fossil fuels emissions, healthcare not for all and increase in military budget to name a few in Bidens leftist posturing throughout his political career

It’s funny when you think you know me. The goal of “making money” is not a liberal value. I’m not sure you understand what the “neo” prefix means. You should look that up.

You have that exactly backwards. What you see is the Republican record that the Democrats always have to clean up after the Republicans have run the US economy into the ditch.

Staff members at Donald Trump’s North Carolina political rally Friday night told members of the audience to drop their controversial QAnon one-finger salute, a journalist for NPR reported.

I guess someone didn’t like the press coverage of the optics.

Though, I’m sure trump loved the adulation
