It's pretty simple, there is no empirical evidence to support that transgenders are the sex they believe themselves to be. Prove me wrong using scientific evidence

I’m at work and will be heading home soon. I’ll get back to this as soon as I can.

Those are Furries, not actually trans-species.

That’s not a cat. The rest aren’t even lizards, zombies, or donut heads.

Now these are cat humanoids:

Even Dr. Who did better with their cat humanoids than that due. Then there is Andre Norton’s telepathic Cat humanoids- Star Ka’ats. Those were cool cats. That dude though, not just no, but BIG NO. He’s not a cat and doesn’t even look like one. Now, I’ve heard of people having issues, but those guys have BIG issues and don’t seem to know what they want to look like actually looks like.

Um… Transgenderism is not cross dressing. Transgender people take massive amounts a hormones, risking fatty liver disease- at least for trans women. Trans women who take massive amounts of female hormones have a high risk of fatty liver disease. Now trans men also take a massive amounts of male hormones. They don’t just dress up as the opposite gender. Some may even go through a surgery to complete the transition. No, the males transitioning to female do not get it cut off. They have their male genitals turn into a more or less functional (for sex, not for babies) vagina.

I only know this because I have a trans sister-in-law, which caused me to do some research. Even Jazz recently went through the surgery, but she lived her life as a girl most of her life, taking puberty suppression meds until she was 18, then took female hormones and finally the surgery.

Here’s a whole playlist about Jazz, but I’m hoping it starts at her (2:08 minute) surgery and not at the (40 min) beginning.

mrmhead was just kidding around. We weren’t being serious.

No, and I understand that. My point at least with this part of the post is that I’ve seen people pose the argument that if a person can trick you into believing they’re a woman by using make-up, that it somehow proves that they are said, transgender.

This is the part that I personally find to be frustrating. We don’t need to be pumping kids full of hormones before they reach the age of 18. Let their bodies run its a natural course, then when they’re an adult at 18 years of age, they can decide what they want to do with their bodies.

Or, you could wait for 3 million years of evolution, on a ship where the whole crew died.

They don’t, unless you want to talk about the milk we have at the stores. They suppressed Jazz’s puberty, meaning her hormones to develop into a man or a woman weren’t allowed to happen. She stayed a child until she was 18.

Cat is my favourite character on Red Dwarf.

The suppression of what seems “natural” does seem weird to me too. But I’ve seen kids who have pumping out hormones too early, and that’s the condition that was initially identified and why the drugs were developed. I’m still trying to understand this “gender dysphoria” thing. What I do know, is it’s not what you keep repeating @Mitch70, it’s not that they just “decide” they want to be something else, and then they can get these drugs.

As this article discusses, if a kid is having this situation, where either physically or mentally, they are expressing a gender different from their birth certificate, treatment includes psychiatry, social work, and community support. Your solution, of letting them just deal with it until they are 18, sounds cruel.

Me too. Not sure if I’ll ever understand it, though I try.

Sounds cruel to me too. If one listens to the first one in that playlist about Jazz (it’s the 40 min long one) you hear the mom say it is a “rare condition”. Although, lately it doesn’t seem so rare, but it said to be rare.

There is a no-win scenario in this situation as every point of view on it could be argued as being cruel.

Argument A. Let the childs body go through its hormone process until they reach full maturity at the age of 18 and then let them decide for themselves.

(Counterargument) It’s cruel to let them suffer for so long before they reach adulthood

Argument B. Use hormones to bring a child closer to the gender they feel they should be.

(Counterargument) It’s cruel to be playing “God” on a childs body before they’ve fully developed into adulthood. Also, many kids grow out of this feeling of dysphoria so you could be interrupting their natural process, and finally, at what age question would it ethically be right to be using hormones?

Argument C. Use hormones to bring a child closer to the sex they are.

(Counterargument) It’s cruel to strip a child away from the gender they identify themselves with, and at what age would it be considered even to be ethically right to be using hormones.

The way I see it, there really is a no-win answer to this problem that can’t be argued as being cruel by other people. I do personally believe that using hormones on a child is already an unnatural process that is really not a solution to the problem and could potentially create more conflict within the child’s life drawing them deeper down the hole of gender dysphoria. I’d argue that it’s better to either let their bodies figure it out until it’s reached full development or uses hormones to bring them closer to the gender they really are.

As far as I can tell, you base most of your posts on your personal feelings, not on facts. It’s not as easy to identify facts in a discussion like this one, but this one contradicts the article I linked. Either provide a source, figure out some other way to convince me, or consider me unconvinced.

You say more slippery things later, like “let their bodies figure it out”, what does that even mean? If we lived in a world of greater acceptance of people working it out and allowed people to be comfortable with some in-between position, some of what you said might make sense. But you ignore a lot throughout this thread and this topic.

You don’t understand the process. Kids don’t get hormones. They get hormone suppressants until they come of age, so that they don’t develop into the gender they don’t want to be. These kids really do not want their penis or vagina depending if they are physically boy or girl.

If they go into puberty and develop into a male or female, then it’s more difficult later to reverse some of the traits. Once they come of age then they get hormones.

Jazz got hormone suppressants until she was close to 18. She didn’t go through puberty like everyone else. This made it easier later, when she turned 18, to decide if she wanted to go through with transitioning. Actually, it made it more difficult because she didn’t develop physically without hormones. What they use for a penis to make a vagina, wasn’t enough to make a vagina due to her hormones being suppressed. There was no hormones. You really need to watch Jazz (the videos I posted) and do more research on this topic.
