The Zionists are defined as people who want to occupy that land. IMO, even if you were born there and were told it's your birthright, once you are an adult, you should be able to see some alternatives and consider you might be wrong.
I read a good book on this, although it would be slightly outdated now, by the people at Tikkun magazine. I’m not sure I still have it. My understanding; no one really has a claim on that land before Roman times, even to Egypt it was an outlying state. Romans were occupiers, but we sanction conquering all the time. The Romans named it Palestine. Then you had the Christianity schism, then Muslims conquered. There are some big differences with how they governed and allowed a degree of religious freedom, but that’s a longer story. I see no way to adjudicate all of this and come to a resolution that would satisfy anything nearing a majority.
Low level war is the stupidest way to deal with. Except may all out war, but I’m hoping that doesn’t happen. Some sort of wiping of the slate is needed. It would be a kind of peace treaty unimagined in any past culture.
