I have a long time friend who was born shortly after World War II, then immigrated to the US with his parents when he was a pre-teen. He born just in time to be facing the Viet Nam war and though intellectually opposed to the war, he did his duty and enlisted before they had a chance to draft him. That way he had some control over where they put him. He was lucky to come back, a few emotional scars, hearing shot, but hale and hearty just the same.

Recently we exchanged some texts and he shared the following quote. Since my German mom came of age during the war, and though she and dad finally escaped the postwar horrors, in 1955 and then coming to America we all becoming Naturalized Citizens. I was raised to respect and learn to appreciate the incredible achievement America The Free was, even with its glaring failures - which should have served to make us Americans more vigilant !

I share this with for our MAGA pals (who probably couldn’t care less) for they are full of false pride at cheerleading, as the billionaires’ played them like the fools they are.

This is your shit show that’s about to batter our country beyond recognition, all your empty talk and endless flow of lies add up to nothing,
what is actually goes down in our physical world is the proof in the pudding.

I myself doubt we’ll recognize our country in four years, and our next election will probably be planned and run by Russian advisors.

It’ll be interesting to watch this country dismember itself. It’ll be like watching a slow motion video of a serious car accident as parts and pieces scatter all over the road, careening along and hitting stationary objects.

I remember as a young boy in Germany playing among ruins and bomb craters, the results of a recent war then! It’ll be interesting to watch American’s reaction to the unfolding shit show and their personal war.

Now the cultist clowns who no longer represent a Republican party are spewing excrement as I watch tonight’s news on PBS.

I have dealt with the election by unplugging from the news completely.

I don’t know about cabinet picks, I refuse to pay any attention for my own mental health.

My theory is that people who experienced WWII first hand are deceased and no one alive today remembers it first hand. I think it will take something catastrophic to shake his followers out of their stupor.

No idea what that will look like, but that’s my prognostication.

Oh and he, like myself, have a life time of keeping up on the news under our belt. Though that was in the days when we thought this was a Democracy and that it mattered that we citizens remain informed and aware and somewhat engaged and willing to participate.

That’s gone, now we have a reality where people are going to turn each other into targets. It’s hideous and I don’t want to play. I am so glad I’m nearly 70, rather than 17, but I’m utterly devastated by the prospects my beautiful grandchild face.

This is where a strong sense of self-awareness, along with recognition for the line between our fantasies and our reality comes in handy.

And that is why finally tearing apart and rethinking our counterproductive philosophical conceits,
with their ridiculous unacknowledged western religious undercurrents, and it accompanying delusional thinking that we are superior.

Get it into your heads, you are a biological creature, a product of Earth’s processes, whose bodies produce our mind.

Process that physical reality - stop fantasizing you are in contact to some GOD out there and doing Its duty.

You produce your own god’s within your own head. It is only your MAGA EGO that you are following as we march down this road of self-destruction that we apathetic Americans have cut out for ourselves.

Not all, it’s to all thinking people who possess some compassion and historical understanding, and who believe in fair play and respecting others for their character and deeds and knowledge - rather than for the facade they erect.

But you wouldn’t understand what I’m talking about. You probably had a pretty ugly childhood too. My heart goes out to you.

Oh and besides I’ll bet a lot of people are going underground, why not - America has just renounced its centuries old articles of faith in justice, the rule of law and a constructive nurturing pluralistic society. It’s become a terrifying place with a lot of monster waiting to be unleashed.

It’s not going to be pretty for any of us, and you’ll probably feel on top, at first, but this self-destructive bs will catch up to you too, you won’t be immune you think those billionaires give one fig for you???

Why should I handle it “well”?

This is a global tragedy, that’s simply going to speed up our self-destruction. If one is filled with hate and rage, perhaps this is a good thing that’s happening. If you like people, civil society and peace, it’s a monstrosity that will become clear after a bit of time, and then it’ll be too late to do anything about it but hang on.

I had no idea.
How soon the younger generations forget.

I got my war education/understanding fed to me viscerally by my mom’s remembrances and admonishment to appreciate what we had achieved in America. Well, and seeing what a waste VietNam was. Oh but it did drive profits, so full steam ahead

But frankrizzo reminds me that perhaps it was all bs, all along, except we still had the land of plenty, now that’s been made to mincemeat, by minds that can’t think beyond the joy of shadensfraude, such a frankrizzo demonstrates so well.

That the best we can hope for of them.

Who’s the them? The traitors that are dedicated to destroying what was left of our Democracy and all the sleepy heads that have no clue, because they were too self-absorbed to partake in the duties of citizenship.

Or perhaps most are simply dummer then a healthy democracy demands - and the best they can hope for is someone to tell them what to do.
What ever it is, it will be a hideous nightmare, unlike anything any of us has ever experienced before.
