Has anyone noticed that this is an election year?

An election year like no other in our lifetimes? (And for once, that is not hyperbole.) A great depression is looming, while we are closing in, so far, on 100 thousand dead Americans, and we have an incompetent character-disordered leader at the helm.

Hello??? Anyone other than Lausten, CC, and the few T rumpaholics that occasionally post something???

Are you just to timid to talk about politics? Are you thinking it doesn’t help to talk about the crap that is going on? Are you just trying to ignore it all?

If you are just trying to ignore it all, then that technically puts you in the “ignorant” category. The ignorant are not helping things get any better. And if things don’t get better, then things are probably going to get worse.

It’s not like the monster that is running things is not doing monstrous crap every day, that we should, at least, acknowledge is happening. There are plenty of things to bring up, but it seems that it is just me bringing things up most of the time.

Man. I don’t even hear crickets.

Ignoring is only a short term solution. Things are getting really really BAD. And they will continue to. If T rump gets a second term, even the most persistent of the ignorers will be screwed along with the rest of us.

Hell, many will not even live long enough to see if T rump gets a 2nd term.

As of now I predict Trump has an excellent chance of re-election. But who knows about next month, right?

Who can say? But thanks for responding. At least you care. Even though you care in the wrong direction.

Pretty crazy ain’t it.

But lets not try to get their attention, that would be disruptive, or not nice, or something . . . . . . .

Hey guy, have you ever explained what it is about t rump that you like so much?

Is it simply that he’s a sociopathic prick that pisses off and unhinges the “lefty” crowd?

Is that all the God Fearing crowd cares about?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Who can say? But thanks for responding. At least you care. Even though you care in the wrong direction.
Which is the right direction? Putting aside the minorities who didn't have a part in founding the country and taming the west, we have two camps of whites: those (city folks) who hates Trump and those (rural folks) who form his base and identify with him. Hillary Clinton put the hillbilly's face on Trump's supporters when she called them a basket of deplorables. Appalacchia, the heart of Trump country, is the home of white poverty. Trump haters - LGBTs, feminists, the educated elites of academia, the media and Deep State - who are incensed by the President's lack of empathy for illegals, have no connection with white trash whatever their plight. There you have it, in a nutshell, the right side and the wrong side. Which side are you on?

I am the epitome of “White Trash”. But I do not compound it by also being a deplorable dumass who loves a “man” that is destroying my country. A “man” who says that there are some very fine Nazis among our citizens. A “man” who really only cares about maintaining his political power rather than saving our country from ruin.

Please Hillary, go away. But you were right about the basket of deplorables.

I am the epitome of “White Trash”.
Really? Do you own a gun? I have two mounted above the fireplace, and they - WW2 vintage - are the ones only just for show.

I own a couple of guns. I am not the kind of white trash that displays them as instruments of honor or manhood.

Guns are instruments of death. Their designed purpose is to kill. And some are designed, particularly, to kill humans. That is not something to be proud of or to feel manly about.

I own a couple of guns.
Whatever for?
I am not the kind of white trash that displays them as instruments of honor or manhood.
The two rifles on display, above my fireplace, are M1's, American steel, my grandfather's mementos of WW2, when we were not fearful of death, refused to go on lockdown and went out to face the enemy.

True. Such guns are fired by animosity and hatred but not in self-defense. Watch it, my friend

...WW2, when we were not fearful of death, refused to go on lockdown and went out to face the enemy.
You compare idiots of today who refuse to go on lockdown to save fellow citizens, to the heroic efforts of our entire country during WWII? That is a shameful comparison. In WWII, the general population sacrificed in various ways, to help the war effort. They did not claim that they were free to do whatever they wanted. They acted together for the good of the whole.

Today we have a leader that pits (almost) one half of Americans against the rest. And he incites his half to undermine and sabotage practices that benefit the whole.

I bought my guns many years ago. I have never in my furthest imagination EVER considered using them due to animosity and/or hatred. That is sick. One was for fun, when I enjoyed shooting for a short while, back in the day. The other is for self defense.

@timb

Those fellow citizens, who are vulnerable or scared, can go on lockdown while the rest of the country forge ahead to recover lost jobs and restore the national economy. Locking down the entire country just to make you feel good about saving fellow citizens is a price we can’t afford.
In WWII, the general population sacrificed in various ways, to help the war effort. They did not claim that they were free to do whatever they wanted. They acted together for the good of the whole.
Yeah, let’s sacrifice in various ways then: lock yourself down if you are vulnerable to or scared of the invisible enemy and let others willing to take the risk go out and repair the economy.
Today we have a leader that pits (almost) one half of Americans against the rest. And he incites his half to undermine and sabotage practices that benefit the whole.
Who are sabotaging your lockdown practices to benefit yourself? Americans want to go back to their normal lives. If I were President, I would squelch any conflict by segregating guys like you who want lockdown and send all you people to medically-equipped internment camps staffed by your choice of doctors, including Fauci and Birx. You are free to rejoin the rest of Americans whenever you want or never want.
I bought my guns many years ago. I have never in my furthest imagination EVER considered using them due to animosity and/or hatred. That is sick.
They all say that. How many times, after horrific incidents, have we read about friends, families, co-workers and neighbors saying "oh, he was the gentlest person we know".
One was for fun, when I enjoyed shooting for a short while, back in the day.
Shooting what?
The other is for self defense.
Ah ha, is that a long gun or a pistol? Trump-hating white trash run with city folks, mainly godless atheists with no connection to the Second Amendment at best and hate this confounded Constitutional provision at worst. To these people, the gun is a symbol of the Devil. So, chances are you wouldn't go near a 12 gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun. I don't think you would like the look of a semi-automatic handgun because it looks too macho. Perhaps, a .22 revolver for defense against squirrels?
Locking down the entire country just to make you feel good about saving fellow citizens is a price we can’t afford.
You can't even hide your trolling anymore. "feel good about saving fellow citizens"? What does that even mean? That I just want to save a few thousand lives so I feel better about myself? Is that some twisted version of selfishness that you have in your head? Or, are you not thinking about what you type, just stirring the pot?
They all say that. How many times, after horrific incidents, have we read about friends, families, co-workers and neighbors saying “oh, he was the gentlest person we know”.
Sree, are you accusing me of being a potential murderer? I'd say that of the two of us, it is YOU that has the least respect for the lives of others. In fact you are advocating that people react massively in ways that WILL result in the deaths of others.

And the really screwed up part is that improper, unprepared for, willy nilly opening of the economy WILL NOT WORK.

More people, than otherwise would, will die for nothing, due to the stupid beliefs and desires of people like you. If one of us is a murderer, Sree, that would be you.

As far as using a gun for self-protection or the protection of others, I learned to NEVER point a gun at anyone unless I was prepared at that moment to kill them. (And the only justification for that is to save my own life or the life of someone else).

Hence, I fervently hope that I am lucky enough to never be in that position. But if I am, and I get a shot or two off, the person I shoot will not likely survive. And if they do, they will be thoroughly messed up.

When I was a young teen, an adult fellow church member gifted me a single shot 22 rifle. I only fired it once. I shot at one of the eyes of a raccoon that was gleaming, being spotlighted at night. It was high in a tree that was 50ish yards away. I hit that raccoon in that eye and he fell out of the tree like an over-ripe coconut. My brother in law “borrowed” my gun and I never saw it again. I have not owned a 22 caliber since.

It's not me. It's the Johnathan Haidt moral matrix. Here, read all about it in Psychology Today:

When I was a young teen, an adult fellow church member gifted me a single shot 22 rifle. I only fired it once. I shot at one of the eyes of a raccoon that was gleaming, being spotlighted at night.
Why did you do it, shoot the racoon in the eye? I know that critter can be aggressive. Was it charging you like a wild hog? It was 50 yards away minding it's own business. You see what I mean?
Why did you do it, shoot the racoon in the eye?
I was with a few relatives hunting raccoons. It was night. The headlights of the truck lit up the trees, across the pasture ahead. And in the trees you could see pairs of glowing points of light that were the eyes of raccoons. I picked 1 eye from among them. I aimed and fired. The raccoon fell. My brother in law sold its skin and tail.
You see what I mean?
No Sree. I don't see what you mean. Did you actually say something meaningful, and I missed it? Oh darn! And it happens so rarely.
