I was around the bourgeoisie so I saw how gross they were. As I learned how society worked I understood the social contract. I rejected hereditary privilege. I saw my relationship to the universe as a personal choice and science showed me we can discover that universe without an imposed dogma.
I depart a bit from the “classical” model because I’m not big on property ownership and the 18th century view of government’s role.
When I argued with my right-wing uncle I once claimed this “Classical Liberal” label, after he told me how “liberals” were destroying the country. He then claimed that I couldn’t dredge up a definition from the past and claim that is the correct definition. He identified the fallacy, but he used it wrong. The fallacy occurs if you use a word, more or less correctly, then I go back to some Latin root and claim that’s what you meant. I claimed a traditional definition, but that definition is still real, it’s in our Constitution. He has a stereotypical definition of “liberal” as it’s been used in the last few decades. The word is in flux, so both of us are correct in how we are using it. It is not a fallacy if you are providing the meaning and explaining which definition you mean.
Sree is doing the same thing. He is one of the millions of people who learned the word and associated it with things he doesn’t like; taxes, regulation, gun control, welfare. As soon as he steps out of his safe vehicle after obeying traffic laws he forgets why there are laws and screams at the WalMart greeter that he can’t be forced to wear a mask.

A beggar, on the sidewalk in a motorized wheelchair, spotted my fancy BMW 740 and came up alongside to catch my attention. I knew he was there at the window on the passenger side but ignored him. After several vain attempts at trying to engage me, he got mad and shouted "asshole!!" I could hear the powerful enraged muffled bellow through the closed window but showed no reaction. Now, that's what these lowlives mean by "gross": your unwillingness to play their game.

It's funny because I've always noticed the middle class seems to have the most empathy for the poor. "Empathy for the poor" is a middle class value in itself..
Virtually all charity (in a general sense) comes from them and the destruction of the middle class is a big part of the reason the poor are doing worse today.

White liberals have been making things worse for blacks since Jane Fonda backed the Vietcongs. Blacks don't seem to learn. Some of the blacks who get it are folks like Justice Clarence Thomas, Condoleezza Rice, and Thomas Sowell.
