I just posted a response under Politics and the post by CC titled “The Debate”. It was 7 min. ago and it is counted as a reply but it is not registering. It had no links or pics. I posted it, and then tried to edit it, but when I submitted the edited version, it all disappeared.
You’re the second person complaining about such a thing. I may have to get the designer on it, because I’m at a loss and apparently Lausten has no idea either.
I’ve seen a few threads that looks like he’s responded, but I click and the latest one is not from him.
Including this one.
I wasn’t sure if it was just me … but seeing “a sign” in this thread, I think it may be more widespread.
For example the “REAL experiments” thread, it looks like CC replied last, but click on the link and it’s not there. It doesn’t even land on the last post from Wil.
That is weird. We’ll have to get the webdesigner to look at that too.
Why doesn't CFI ask the webdesigner to install this program fully and correctly and make that a tax deductible charitable donation. Seems to me that would be a beneficial arrangement for both parties. CFI benefits from a correctly working program and the designer can proudly show their name and make a tax deductable charitable donation. What is not to like about such an arrangement.?
I am fairly confident of one possible cause of the mysteriously disappearing posts and that is haste. This appears to be a slow acting program and if you do not give it sufficient time to check and process the data being submitted it tends to freeze up and hides the post in the neural labyrinth.
In my experience it does show the “hidden” post in the profile page from where it may be copy and pasted after a wait period. So the post is not lost, it is just in your personal CFI file but not posted in the public page.
p.s. look at the curious space at top of this post. AFAIK, I do a simple copy and paste at the very top of the post , yet there is that curious gap which only recently seems to have appeared.
Mriana and I have limited rights, and there are a couple others we are in contact with that have full rights, but I pretty much leave them to make decisions. I know they sometimes read these messages, and sometimes I pass along thoughts.
In this case, I’m not sure what you are suggesting. WordPress is open sourced. There probably are consultants that could be paid to do something, but I think it’s mostly up to the individual users to figure it out. I try searching for our specific issues and rarely find them being directly addressed. I hope to find some time to take some of their seminars in the future.
Personally, since I started PC programming in 1987, I am very aware of wait times and slow processing and sudden crashes, so I do watch the “posting” messages and wait for them to complete before making my next mouse click. I would be surprised if CC has not done that.
@laustenNot seeing your evidence Morgan. Like “Why is there not a history forum”, right in this section. CC shows as the most recent post, but, don’t see it.
I thought I read a recent post in a general forum. As i did not kept the link, i cannot find it again and check the post. It seems I was wrong.
Hello thanks, it’s late and I’m not sure what all that is about up there. I think it’s been three maybe four days when I last tried posting and it disappears. Since then I was driving a ten foot UHaul truck from Mesa to Charlotte. Kinda sad seeing my little buddy move so far away, but you know young parents need to chase the jobs so it is what it is.
Thanks for thinking of me, nice to be back.
Peter.
PS, I hear the CFI forum is going to be doing major upgrade in next few weeks, month? Lausten, Mriana, do you have any information on that?
