Money isn’t going to help them.
The first time I watched this, my mind stopped concerning the kitten and I didn’t know when the person he was reading about found out he had COVID-19. I just listened to it again. Still seems horrifying, even though the man survived. Note: I have heard milder versions than this one, but I don’t know if they really were COVID-19 or not, except it was said they were on one of the cruise ships and tested positive, so that story may have been true too. I’ve also read about worse too. So I guess it just depends on one’s body reacts.
I don’t know, but I’m not sure if I want to be among the people getting the first round of vaccine. I highly believe in vaccines, but if you remember back in the 70s the first round of the Flu vaccine didn’t go very well. Jimmy Carter, I believe, got one of the first rounds of the vaccine and did well, but other people not so well. The COVID-19 is dangerous, but given I wasn’t allowed to have the flu vaccines until recent years due to my egg allergy, I don’t want to chance that right away. We need to find out how it affects humans and with the rush, it could be botched and cause more problems until they tweak it.
“Israeli daily Ha’aretz, quoting medical sources, reported on March 12 that scientists at the Israel’s Institute for Biological Research, supervised by the Prime Minister’s office, have recently had a significant breakthrough in understanding the biological mechanism and qualities of the virus, including better diagnostic capability, production of antibodies for those who already have the virus and development of a vaccine.”
“The development process, however, requires a series of tests and experiments that may last many months before the vaccination is deemed effective or safe to use, the report said.”
Rumors are that cats and dogs can’t give the COVID-19 to humans, but some have tested positive for low levels of the virus. So, again, who knows? Maybe they can catch it from humans.
There were allegedly two dogs who tested positive for Coronavirus in China, supposedly getting it from their human and they were placed in quarantine for 14 days. Poor babies.
I hope they were in quarantine in their home with their human, because they’d have no idea why they taken from their human and locked up for days.

These were pets. I can’t imagine they’d take someone’s pet and eat them nor do I think, after what they just went through, they are dumb enough to eat an animals who tests positive for the coronavirus. Then again, this is their second time around with a SARS type virus.
Canadian prime minister’s wife has tested positive.

Hey, the U.S. isn’t much better with rattlesnake meat and raccoon and possum meat. Just think what could happen when one eats a rattler or say a raccoon or possum that just got infected with rabies, but isn’t foaming at the mouth yet.
Road kill seems to be popular these days.
Tom Hanks and his wife have COVID-19 and under Australian care and authority.
On a sad note, during the chaos of the epidemic in China (which has reportedly settled down now) there were groups of pets that were rounded up and murdered due to fears they could pass on the virus.
On a brighter note, here at home, it is reported that Democrats are washing their hands much more than Republicans.
It’s horrible that they murdered them, especially when they didn’t do it. ![]()
Roadkill, at least what my mother told me over the years, is not healthy, but Dems are smarter than Repugs.
It helps to get there while it’s still fresh. :- |
So, why can’t I get toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol at Amazon or in the local stores?
Because people are stockpiling and even the news (locally at least) has told people to stop that.
I guess you’re right about stockpiling. I think all the products being stockpiled are produced inside the US. I’m sure the companies which produce them are happy to empty out their warehouses. We are such followers. The shelves will be full again in probably a month or less.
I think it is especially nuts about the hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol. Soap and hot water are more effective than hand sanitizers or alcohol for getting hands clean. The only real reason for using either hand sanitizers or alcohol is if one doesn’t have access to hot water and soap. The way diseases get resistance to what ever we use to cure them is by us knocking them down but not killing all the agents. Those that survive and reproduce are the ones that are more able to resist our efforts. We basically breed out the weak ones and breed in a tougher strain. I expect they may eventually find that over dependence upon hand sanitizers can contribute to worse diseases. This is similar to the reason we now have weeds resistant to many chemical herbicides.
I also think it is not particularly efficient to just spray chemicals on surfaces in an attempt to remove viruses. Viruses don’t reproduce on surfaces and spread like bacteria. What is needed is to physically remove the virus from the surface. This means some sort of wipe and/or rinse is needed.
About testing. We are not testing everyone because it is unnecessary. If one does not present symptoms there is no need to test. Shall we all run out and get tested for TB, syphilis or any other disease if we don’t have symptoms? Of course not. If we do test negative for the coronavirus today, does that mean we won’t get it next week? Again, of course not. But considering how people think, and act irrationally, I expect those who would get a negative result would feel like they could just forget about it and would see no reason why they couldn’t go about their normal routine. We have no reason to clog up our testing facilities with thousands or millions of unnecessary tests or to waste the test kits we do have. Unnecessary testing wouldn’t be smart and it could lead to a false sense of security.
Looks like natural selection has found a virus the targets th elderly.
This was predicted by Dr. Albert Bartlett in his lecture on the Exponential function.
There will come a point where the earth can only support a Zero growth population. Maybe that point has been reached and Nature is beginning to cull the weak and the elder (my target group).
If that sounds like a fictitious assumption, nature does not intentionally select, but will constantly test living things for survivability from a host of causalities, some known, some unknown.
Write, I think that the natural selection process may indeed have some subtleties, such as you suggest. Also, if culling the old of a species (humans), works to enhance the survivability and reproduction of your species (COVID-19), then you get to win the evolutionary lottery.
@ibelieveinlogic, I think you are completely off the mark in your promotion of only testing people for COVID-19 if they show symptoms.
That idiotic strategy and misguided idea has gotten us where we are STILL today — ignorant. This is a new virus. There is no immunity to it. People can get it and show NO SYMPTOMS, yet still be actively shedding the virus and spreading it thru unknown vectors, randomly, thru the society. And we are BLIND to this, because of lack of widespread massive numbers of people tested.
If we HAD gotten that data, we might have been able to see the clusters and vectors of transmission clearly, then we could have probably made more targeted and less societally and economically disruptive versions of everybody deciding at once to just stop having ANY groups ANYWHERE of more than 250 or 500 for the foreseeable future.
If you have symptoms - you should easily get a cost free test for COVID-19. Yes? yes.
If you suspect that you have had potentially transmission contact with someone who has COVID-19 - test. Yes? yes.
This data should have been gathered over the past several weeks, instead of just getting started “in the next few days or early next week”.
Maybe Lucy won’t jerk away the football this time, just at the moment that “the next few days or early next week” never gets here. And maybe this time, substantial testing will actually really truly begin “in the next few days or early next week.”
Our idiot DOTUS kept saying today that no one should get tested unless they have symptoms. He is photographed with someone who has just been determined positive for COVID-19. Other T rumpublicans had similar contact and put themselves of isolation. T rump meanwhile will not get tested and will not stop shaking hands with members of the public. He could conceivably be an active hidden vector of transmission. In a morality play, I guess such an ironic plot would be a given. Anyway, the point is we need to test all suspected potential transmissions (without requiring active symptoms be present before testing is allowed).
