(840 sailors tested positive from that ship. Don’t you think it would have been more, if Crozier had kept quiet?)Keeping quiet is not the point, he was careless in how he relayed the information. It's called operational security -- violating it is a bad idea.
One would think that US warships are more remote than the Virgin Islands; and yet, they seem to be as susceptible to Covid infections as Bangkok.
The Navy has recommended that he be reinstated to Captain of the Aircraft Carrier. The part of Judge Judy, in deciding his fate, will be played by Defense Secretary Esper. If the Navy has recommended reinstatement, then it's bending to political pressure. Esper is stalling, and that's a sign of backbone. I would be disappointed if Trump doesn't over-rule the Navy in the event Pentagon leaders fold and act like wusses.

Again that # is now at 950, not 840.
Crozier relayed the info to 11 people IN HIS CHAIN OF COMMAND. Is that careless? Or would it, rather, have been CARE-LESS, to allow a couple of thousand more of his sailors to get the virus, while dicking around with some meaningless messaging protocol? Were the 11 in his chain of command going to undermine some minimal level of “operational security”?
Was that level of “operational security” going to keep sailors from dying?
Get real.
The judgment is in. Crozier will not command another ship again. His Navy career is over.
@thatoneguy and I are right. You lose.
...The news that Crozier is staying off the ship is a shift from the Navy's recommendation in April. After a preliminary inquiry, the chief of naval operations recommended that Crozier be reinstated. But Gen. Mark Milley, the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was not satisfied and pushed for a broader investigation, a move that delayed a decision on reinstating Crozier, POLITICO first reported... https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/19/navy-fires-brett-crozier-aircraft-carrier-coronavirus-329716Mark Milley who infamously tagged along with the T rump on the Bible toting photo op that was preceded by the abusive clearing away of a peaceful assembly of demonstrators, by militarized federal police.
You really think that the RE-decision had nothing to do with pressure from the T rump?
So they seem to be saying now, that the decision to dump on Crozier, was not about the email that Crozier delivered. There was nothing wrong with how he did that. Supposedly the decision to dump Crozier was that Crozier mishandled dealing with the COVID breakout when it was discovered. SO supposedly it was all his fault and not of anyone else involved, be they in the military chain of command or civilian influence.
If only we could blame the whole mismanagement of the Pandemic in the USA on one person in charge, one person who should have handled things differently, and who is even now, continuing to mismanage the Pandemic response so profoundly ineptly.
