Assange

Loser position. I have already called you out. Quietism.

ok, i will call u out. Biggest loser. Loudmouthism.

If someone refuses to compromise, when the only alternative is to suffer extraordinary setbacks, that could be avoided by the compromise, what would you call their philosophy? How about “Stupidism”?

Ole!

Aussie English is replete with expressive epithets; drongo dropkick, dickhead, and many more which escape me right now.

My dear old dad told me to never argue with a drunk or a fool. The typeof person you hav described can perhaps best described as a fool who has the great misfortune to as yet be unaware of his foolishness… Sadly, a common affliction, especially notable in politicians

Give me a happy but stupid person over the annoying, bloody minded ignoramus any day. Imo ignorance is far worse than stupidity, which is incurable.

Something my mum said to me when I was 14 just popped into my head:" you will be amazed at just how much your parents learn between now and when you turn 21" . She was right too.

Caitlin: Assange Is Reportedly Gravely Ill, And Hardly Anyone’s Talking About It

And here we go folks. Australian federal police just raided home of journalist who reported on govt spying on citizens and raided the National broadcaster The ABC because they investigator war crimes allegations in afganistsn.

Whats the saying ? First they cam for the jews…

PD, What’s your take on the Australian Broadcasting station being raided by Aussie Feds? (At 1st glance it appears, to me, to be a dangerous thing for freedom of the press.)

“PD, What’s your take on the Australian Broadcasting station being raided by Aussie Feds? (At 1st glance it appears, to me, to be a dangerous thing for freedom of the press.)”

Not quite right. The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) is publicly owned, and consists of government funded TV and Radio stations. It does have some advertising, but is mainly funded by the government. Same with SBS (Special Broadcasting Service)

Both ABC and SBS have charters, which define content and objectivity . The Right has been accusing the ABC of left wing bias for about 50 years, on-and-off.

I get my News mostly from the ABC, as it’s far more objective any of the commercial channels. SBS world new is also first rate, and includes news services in several languages. I used to watch PBS News with Jim Lehrer. I think our services are superior.

Ignore the US heading. You can watch Australian ABC streaming:

thanks

THE RIGHT WING RESPONSE TO TRUTH TELLING WHEN IT COMES TO GOVT CRIMES

Tim, I’m sorry, I seem to have misunderstood your question.

Rare for the ABC to be raided. Day -to-day, it is an independent entity. EG It has an obligation to be as objective as possible. The government of the day cannot dictate policy or content. The ABC remains subject to law.

As for freedom of speech and freedom of the press: Australia does not have a bill of rights. Hence, no constitutional guarantee. However ,our high court as ruled that this right is implicit in our constitution. Our press is considered to be free,.

Australia has no law against libel specifically . Here libel falls under the umbrella charge of ‘defamation’,This also provides some protection of the media .This is changing.

"The Australian Defamation Act of 2006 was passed in an effort to promote uniform slander and libel laws in the country.

In short, the reforms addressed concerns regarding freedom of the press. The act also made it harder for large corporations to abuse defamation statues to silence critics. Some of the more notable features of the legislation include:

“preventing corporations with more than 10 employees (other than non-for-profit organizations or small businesses) from suing for defamation, addressing current community concerns that large companies could stifle legitimate public debate by beginning defamation action;
establishing a defense of “truth” to replace the previous defense of “truth and public benefit”;
reducing the time limit for bringing a defamation action from six years to one year (or three years if the court is satisfied an action could not have been brought within one year);"

Can anyone say whatever they like about public figures (esp. political ones) without fear of prosecution for slander? e.g. “Donald J Trump is an egg sucking deformed leperous grub whose character is uglier than the stuff that comes out of his own butt and mouth.”

I apologize to any animal rights activists, should offense by taken by my comparing a physically challenged grub to Trump.

grubs, no doubt, deserve more respect than that.

Not as far as I know, but times have changed:

In about 1985, my registered Democrat uncle was visiting from New York. There was an election campaign in progress… On the right was Malcolm Frazier, reviled by the left. His wife was called 'Tammy".

Unc. came over all discombobulated when he saw a bumper sticker. (I swear this is true)

It read : TAMMY HAS ONE. MALCOLM IS ONE.

I doubt you could get away with that today.

Aussie wit tends to be pretty dry and ironic. However, on some occasions, it can get a bit close to the knuckle.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((9)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

“grubs, no doubt, deserve more respect than that.”

Yair. Especially witchetty grubs, because (I understand) they’re delicious. You can accuse Prez Trump of being a lot of things. Being delicious isn’t one of them. (unless of course you ask him)

Saying this about political figures in the US would be pushing the limits of political correctness, and the speaker might well be persecuted socially but it would not be illegal. It does seem rather clever to me, but I probably won’t use it. It is said that discretion is the better part of valor.

Bill Maher (a political comedic talk show host) once showed a picture of an Orangutan and said it was Donald Trump’s father, as part of a comedic bit. Trump actually sued Maher, took him to court and lost. Bill Maher still occasionally shows the photo of the Orangutan.

The UK dogs have just signed his extradition papers to US. Australian govt invisible.

You really are a font of misinformation. I have to fact check most things you say. Are you sure you are not a Trumpian?

The court can now consider extradition to the US, but extradition to the US is not yet determined. Maybe tomorrow you can make your claim.

Yes tim b signed the papers
