A guy threw a baggie at him and was chasing him. It’s not clear what made the guy mad. No one else felt the need to defend themselves with an AR that night. Everyone else was trying to catch someone they saw as a killer.

I find it sadly amusing that justice, sanity, humanity is ‘left’? Not straight down the middle for three sigmas either side in the bell curve of enlightened morality. I realise that it isn’t, entirely due to evolutionary reasons which have massively skewed the distribution of moral sensibility to the right. So neo-fascism Trumps social equality for 49% of the electorate. The farce of democracy virtually paralyses the rest.

You’re right, martin-peter-clarke, justice, sanity, humanity, is considered “left” and “socialism” (often confused with and called “Communism”) in the U.S. I don’t understand it either and I live in the U.S.

It’s universal, anthropological therefore genetically hard wired by evolution @mriana. It obviously has greater survival value over hundreds of thousands of years of human evolution built on hundreds of millions of vertebrate and then the same of invertebrate evolution. Greater than being unequivocally harmless and fair first. I think trees are kinder than we are.

I think that is a Left filter, and it’s inaccurate. It is expressed very differently on each side. You should be able to express their reasoning in a way that they agree you have done it accurately. Otherwise, you’re not having a conversation, just a shouting match. Some people, that’s all they want. We ban them from this forum.
Sorry, it’s the centre->right that centre themselves, normalize themselves, when in fact that’s just behavioural normality. Being non-violently fair is what we need to be as normal. SoOhhhh, who’s shouting? Me? I’m failing to express the reasoning of neo-fascists to their satisfaction? It can’t be done can it? One can ask what happened to them to turn them in to murderous white supremacists, or, more problematically, what didn’t happen in their moral development. What questions should we be asking them about the latter?
I’m more of a minority than you. I have offspring who are 1/2 Black and I’m a woman. I have no privileges.
We don’t choose our parents. Genetics already has that one.
Maybe we should see the victims and hear their story, if they are still alive and if not, those who saw what happened. “Strange Fruit” often leaves a lot of scars on the survivors.

Well, you could help with fighting for equality, with every human being treated as just that- a human being. I think just about every country has issues with equality. If the dark skinned humans aren’t treated poorly, then it’s the women or both.

And how do I do that? As it’s the ultimate social goal. I live 200 m off the most ethnically and otherwise socially diverse road in the UK. Our immediate neighbours are Congolese Catholic and Senegalese Muslim matriarchies, across the street (Romans used to march down it) a Greek couple, he’s dying of cancer, a minority of Anglo-Saxons, Celts, British mongrels like me, lots of frightfully bourgeois Indians, our gay friend Gaz (who had to break in to the disorderly house next door to free trapped sex worker addicts, that woke us up), across the road a parole hostel that got torched two years ago, that kept us awake, and down the road, Poles, Russians (they don’t get on), more S. Asian Muslim and non, our friends James & Hannah & Heidi, Hugo & Lisa & Maudie, Anne, Emma, Albert (Congo), Adam & Alison, David & Sarah, Ian & Sue with whom we have soup nights. Lovely Polish guy with a fantastic Alsatian called Hera who looks out of the open third floor window at you. He showed me a video his mother sent at Xmas of a wolf eating next door’s Alsatian. On Xmas Day Adam rings a hand bell and everyone pours in to the street for champagne. Less will be coming out of Campbell’s ‘Hotel’ as the owner torched it last week to encourage the residents to move on. Nobody hurt. He’ll be at Her Majesty’s Pleasure for some time. The money laundering barber and kebab shops are Kurdish. My barber’s Sicilian. The high end eateries are Turkish. And don’t mess with the Albanians. Then there’s the homeless and vulnerably housed, three of whom I’ve known for years, taken on holiday with the church. One West Indian. One bipolar. The Iranians come to our street cleanings. Then there’s the street parties.
I’m sure your area has issues with equality. Become an activist by working with activist groups. Your neighbourhood maybe diverse, but step outside that area and is it still diverse? Diversity doesn’t always equal equality though. Research is always prudent regardless of where you live.
