But while the bill passed easily out of both the House and Senate, there was still a contentious debate when it came to why exactly women seeking to terminate a pregnancy must provide so much personal identifying information while those who want to get a firearm permit in the state can simply check off some boxes saying they aren’t a felon and be done with it. - See more at: http://rhrealitycheck.org/article/2013/03/14/utah-bill-requires-more-personal-information-for-abortion-than-for-gun-purchases/#sthash.FlDohOBa.dpuf

Not surprising at all in a patriarchal society where laws are created to keep men in control.

But think of the children! The poor little murdered babies. If they’re aborted they won’t have the opportunity to grow up in poverty, unwanted and resented, and, in a perfect world, abused. Or perhaps they could grow up with a congenital birth defect or disease. They could grow up knowing the endless joys of slowly destroying their family through stress and resentment, victimized by social stigma, and tortured by a society unwilling to accept the realities of their existence. Or perhaps they could get dumped in the foster system and passed about through a crapshoot of home lives until their 18th birthday where they get a bus ticket, a bottle of Thunderbird, and a kick to the curb. Who could deny a child such wonders?

DM, you forgot that they won’t have the opportunity to go to school and be shot by some nut who didn’t have to pass a background check.
Occam

By outlawing abortion, think of the babies we can save to grow up neglected, abused, homeless, unwanted, or who can cause their loving parents to sink into abject poverty!! Because after they are born, we frankly don’t give a damn about them.

Different style from you here DM. Great little bit. :-)

Here’s my shocked face, huuuuuuh? It’s Utah people, home of the cult whose god lives on his own planet and manipulates Yawyeh like a puppet. You know, Mitt Romney’s peeps. The ground zero of ultraconservatism. Naturally gun owners have more rights than women who must remain respectfully behind their men and have lots of Mormon children. Utah isn’t the only state to try this end run around Roe v. wade. Utah joins Mississippi and North Dakota in attempting to outlaw abortion via alternate means such as shutting down clinics and harassing clients. Progressives need a push back grass roots organization to fight this intrastate and not rely solely on the ACLU.
