I completely agree. But note that this radicalization is a completely new phenomenon spread by a deranged egomaniacal conman who has no regard for the country, but just wants to feed his insatiable hunger for Ultimate Power. IOW, just another dictator.
I have warned against this emerging threat since he became president by a stroke of luck. The parallel to Hitler’s rise to power and corrupting an entire nation of otherwise decent people is starkly obvious, including an attempted “putsch” (coup) to disrupt the normal and lawful election procedures and just steal election results in order to install a wholly unqualified imposter.
That doesn’t sound like anything else you’ve written so far. I mean, yes, the content is your usual tidbits of data with conclusions that come from talking points from extremist media, but some of the words were multi-syllabic, not your usual style, and of course the length, and the lack of paragraphs. It has that “cut and paste” flavor to it.
Reports indicating that Russian troops are demobilising. Maybe the Minsk accord will be adhered to. Maybe not?
Russiagate and Russia phobia that is alive and well here is just a distraction from from the crisis in domestic politics., the babbling mind of the conspiracy theorists. Russia has concerns, which must not be acknowledged here.
The real concern is the nuclear armed stealth cruise and short flight time ballistic missiles being pushed up against their borders by the US for the purpose of a decapitating nuclear sneak attack. These missiles can reach Moscow or St Petersburg in minutes, forcing them into a “launch on warning” position with no time to verify they are actually under attack. That means the decision to launch a nuclear war has to be delegated to much lower ranks, because there simply isn’t time to notify higher authorities and have them make a rational decision based on multiple verified reports of a missile attack.
C’mon, you believe that I am going to fall for such simplistic strawman. It is the fact that when the world is in turmoil various crises such as the covid pandemic for one , that opportunistic dictators see a chance to take aggressive actions that are severely punished under normal circumstances.
It is a fact that the US is withdrawing troops from direct involvement in other country’ s affairs, whereas Russia is increasing its military presence and direct involvement in other country’s affairs.
No one is afraid of becoming occupied by the US. They are afraid of becoming occupied by Russia.
And therefore they should disarm and let Russia walk in.? Ukraine has not the same rights that Russia claims for themselves?
Note that it is Russia that is making claims of historic rights to Ukraine against the will of the Ukrainians, not the other way around. Very much like China is making claim to Taiwan against the will of the Taiwanese.
There are so many words that are not defined in this thread. Like “doorstep”. The US is at the doorstep of Mexico, according to the way triplex69 uses it. But no one in their right mind thinks we will invade or have some sort of right to amass massive troops on that border. Doing so would be a diplomatic nightmare for the US.
I don’t like defending US troops stationed all over the world, or even selling arms. But we aren’t the same as Russia. When we are based in a country, or supporting one with our military, it’s not the same as an invasion or an occupation. I’m not saying were some benevolent beat-cop bringing peace to the neighborhood, but it’s not the same.
As a side bet, who has $20 that says triplex isn’t an employee of the Russian government?
Wow. I find it hard to believe that you believe that post makes sense. I’ll let this one go, but you are developing a pattern of posts that are designed purely to get a reaction, not contribute.
Bingo. Keep in mind the instigator of the racism was the dotard though.
Corporate greed is also a problem and also contributes to inequality, which also leads to why Rittenhouse’s white privilege got him off and never sentenced.
Where did you get this? None of this was in the BBB bill.
Not all tax payers. Some of us are still anti-war. However, not inviting Russia to a Democratic meeting is not what will cause war. That’s not aggression. So they can’t come. Big deal.
We adjoin Mexico, but yet we’re not invading Mexico. The same with Canada. Your statement doesn’t mean Russia has a right to invade.
You’re not making any sense. Supporting the Minsk makes no sense. The U.S. isn’t pushing for war either. Just because sanctions are imposed on Russian or China or not inviting them to a meeting. doesn’t mean the U.S. is pushing for war.
That is not the point at all. This is a false analogy.
The analogy would be true if the US had 175,000 troops at the doorstep of Mexico, which it doesn’t.
By all standards of international relations, amassing 175,000 troops at someone’s border after a declaration of “right to territory”, is an act of aggression and warrants a defensive posture by the threatened party.
One day, USA implemented launch sites for medium range nuclear missiles in turkey, not far from USSA borders. In retaliation, USSR implemented launch sites in Cuba. there was a crisis and both agreed to dismantle the sites. End of crisis.
As a result, the Moscow–Washington hotline was established.
One must be careful when one acts along other power borders.
