You have already fallen for the propaganda. The cry of “seeing it with your own eyes” is an appeal to your sense of powerlessness. You know you don’t have the power to put better candidates on the ballot, so you are stuck sorting out the garbage on Youtube. The people with actual power overwhelm your senses with their firehose of information then point to something, tell you their interpretation of it, and say it’s obviously true, that anyone with common sense would agree with them. Leaving you to choose between believing you are one of the people who has common sense or going back to feeling powerless while trying to sort out that mountain of information.
The strategy requires that we forget this is democracy. That our power is in talking with each other, finding our common values, and remembering how we got here.
That’s true for millions of people. The challenge is to know who you can reach. We went from Obama to Trump in a few years. Some of that was people who had not voted in a while, some of them were independents who swing between parties, many of them were Republicans angry at their own party.
Obama brought in the youth vote better than anyone in a long time.
The lines between marketing, propaganda, and logical reasoning are blurry. Propaganda and marketing don’t work if they are clear.
It’s fascinating how you can’t get yourself to discuss the problems with the trumpster.
Reminds me of a people lesson I learned back when I played manager here and there. People are excellent at spotting someone else short comings, and pretty near utterly blind when it comes to recognizing their own short-comings and flaws.
That’s a terrifying thought. Probably true enough though.
There is some pretty gross distortion of priorities being dictated by some media dark money power houses and their sweat shops of Internet hacks ready to ruthless disregard all norms and sense of FairPlay and burn baby burn.
Oh, and stateless since you brought it you, there is that, and for good reason.
Says the guy that tells un global warming driven climate change is no big deal. You’ve shown yourself to be a bankrupt judge. But a great party-line apologist.
