The revolution will not be televised

The broadcast of the takeover will look like the nightly news, just as it has for decades now, watching the world burn. Having won the culture war, liberals didn’t know what to do with it. We thought everyone would be happy about it. We didn’t think they would throw themselves on their own swords after burning down the cities.

The “Big Beautiful Bill” takes anything that even sniffs of those culture war gains, like energy subsidies, or helping people in need, or jobs for former coal miners, and cancels them so it looks like there is enough money for rich people’s tax breaks. Oh, and there’s this

SEC. 70302. RESTRICTION OF FUNDS.

No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce
a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or
temporary restraining order if no security was given when the
injunction or order was issued pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil
Procedure 65(c), whether issued prior to, on, or subsequent to the date
of enactment of this section.

Which says, unless you are rich enough give a “security” (translation: money) for a citation of contempt of court (translation: Trump violated the Constitution and a judge noticed) then that citation is unenforceable. This is a law that makes other laws moot.

While we were arguing about global warming, they stole the country. The people who voted for them will suffer, and most of them will keep blaming someone else. The world economy will suffer and the rich old men will die rich but their children suffer. They are stripping the engine of the economy for parts and once they are sold there won’t be anyone left to buy more or anything left to rebuild the engine.

I don’t see voters coming to the rescue, because things like this are still used as they are meaningful:

“Americans earning under $100,000 received an average tax cut of 16 percent, while the share of taxes paid by the top 1 percent increased.”

That’s from the official Ways and Means committee web page about the bill. It’s true. It’s also true that Americans earning less than $100,000 will have more out of their pocket in the coming years, enough to make a life-or-death difference. The top 1% pay more of the taxes for the country because they have most of the income. A few percentage points either way doesn’t change their life. Meanwhile, the ways we help low-income people are being cut so even a 16% difference in their paycheck will be swallowed up by groceries, gas, and doctor bills. It will be enough that more people will have to choose between food or medicine.

Who could have imagined such a thing happening?
I’m shocked absolutely shocked. :scream:

But we dare not talk about some self-examination about how our self-absorbed nature and self-serving attitude is at the bottom of all this. It wouldn’t be comfortable, nor politically correct - neither will our future.

So, on we march.
