Very easily. Israel could have prevented it, 30 years ago, when there was no Hamas by allowing Palestinians to have an independent state and by abstaining of colonizing Cisjordanie.
And by abstaining from helping Islamist from crating Hamas to create troubles for Palestinian authorities.
The world could have contributed by not forgetting the Palestinian drama.
Now, it is the mater of the egg and the hen, with such a chain of atrocities from both sides that each side can explain that the other side is guilty.

When in human history has an army killed so many in a country and that country thanked them? Hamas is not killing Palestinians. Young people in Gaza see bombs and now IDF troops killing their friends and family. Even if everyone who says they are Hamas now is killed, what do you think will happen? The idea of wanting freedom and independence and equality will never die.
