Who cares?
Trump is the oldest POTUS ever, being 70 yrs and 7 mos when inaugurated. Reagan was a hair shy of 70 when inaugurated. He probably had the beginnings of Alzheimer’s when he left office, at almost 78, but it was not diagnosed for another 5 years.
Jimmy Carter just said recently that he could not have dealt with the rigors of the Presidency when he was 80.
If successful, Biden will be 77 when inaugurated in 2021, or Bernie will be 78. Or Trump will be 74 and a half. Or Buttigieg will have lost all of his baby teeth.
I don’t know. I like Bernie, but his age makes me cringe because he might die in office or he could live to be 90. We don’t know. However, Elizabeth Warren is about the same age too, yet I don’t cringe about her age. I don’t even think about it because she doesn’t look or act her age. Biden is too corporate for me.
You know what? I think you’re right about Biden. I admire him but I don’t think he is the best choice now. He would have, now we know in retrospect, been the best candidate for the Dems, in 2016, but Hillary and her supporters would have had nothing of that.
Bernie will probably outlive us all, other than the top 1 percent of the top 1 percent (who have their heads attached to replacement bodies as needed to extend their life and control). He (Bernie) was a long distance runner. So unless he suffers a stroke or contracts some (unlikely) disease he’s probably going to be like the Eveready battery bunny.
But, even so, for the good of the party and the country, it would be a bit better to have Warren instead, I think.
Mind you, I have not chosen a top pick yet from among all of the Dem candidates.
Warren passes Biden, takes the lead in prized Iowa pollhttps://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/09/22/warren-passes-biden-takes-lead-prized-iowa-poll/
Now Warren I can see as President. I’d be able to embrace her better than any of the others.
P, r u grasping at straws?
Great a bunch of talking hairdos.
Why not bring up something Warren has to say for herself, perhaps a policy statement, but something that hasn’t gone through the media circus filter.
Player is as player does.
You avoided the question. Again
I’ll answer the question (my own rhetorical question, that is). : Yes, P is grasping at straws, flailing about to come up with some flimsy bit of fluff to say that Warren is not a Bernie 2.0 upgrade.
Player: You avoided the question. AgainYou could start by asking an intelligent question.
Stupid questions invite stupid responses.
Tonight’s dirty dozen Dems Debate has a new entry (Stoyers who has been singlehandedly lobbying for T rump’s impeachment for a while now.)
Right now we have polling that currently puts Biden, Warren, Bernie near 20%, Buttigieg 8%, Kamala, I think 4% and the rest 2% or below.
So a 3 hr debate, Bernie who just had a heart attack recently should be fine, he should get a few tough-old-goat votes. But I think he cannot get passed Warren ultimately.
The also-rans need to get something going. Else, their ability to get funding will continue to be a big issue.
I don’t pay any attention to the straw polls. IMHO, the only poll that counts is the final one.
3 things:
-
I enjoy gleaning enough info to make reasonable guesses about what will happen.
-
I also need to glean enough info to eventually decide my pick for the primary election. (I have no hard pick, yet. I could even decide to go back to Bernie, potentially, tho probably not.)
-
I desperately want someone from among this group to be the next POTUS, so the more attention they get, the better, imo.
But for folks who have already firmly decided on their pick, sure, why waste your time and energy?
The title of this thread is unfortunate. I just picked the thread that had already been started about one of the previous debates. But the title question “who won the debate?” is rather inane, I think.
The debate was no big deal, seemingly, in retrospect. I am still far, I think, from deciding on a candidate. Tho I will say I feel myself leaning a wee bit toward Buttigieg. But a wee bit only.
Everyone was going after Warren, so the pundits say that, at least, the other candidates seem to view her as the front runner.
Biden - bidin’ his time? Bernie - the healthiest 70-something-dude-who-had-a-heart-attack-a-few-days-ago, that you’ve ever seen. Yang - I like that guy but he’s not going to be POTUS anytime soon. Steyer - Nicest billionaire you could ever meet. Tulsi Gabbert - Is she a Russian bot? Julian and Beto - Probably no Texan will be the Pres Nominee this time. Kamal - maybe someone will want a nice running mate for VP. Buttigieg - I am impressed. I would like to be more impressed. Warren - parried attacks, and got lots of opportunities to say her spiel
And I think that’s all except the moderate female - I apologize, I am not thinking of her name atm - I believe she had a good performance and might bump up a % or 2 from the basement.
Dammit. That’s only 11 of them? I must be forgetting one.
Oh Corey - sorry bout that. I would be fine with Corey Booker winning, but he seems to be more forgettable than he should be.
