Republican former Rep. Jody Hice of Georgia has joined the Family Research Council (FRC) as a senior adviser to the anti-LGBTQ hate group’s longest-serving president, Tony Perkins. FRC helped launch the religious right as an overt political movement in the 1980s and remains one of the largest anti-LGBTQ organizations in the U.S. Hice described working for the anti-LGBTQ hate group as a “personal mission.”
Since joining the group, Hice has guest-hosted multiple episodes of Perkins’ daily streaming program “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins,” where he has promoted anti-LGBTQ rhetoric. While hosting, Hice has falsely claimed that “extreme gender ideology” is causing medical professionals to target children for “experimental” surgical procedures, asserted that “gender theory” is infiltrating schools, and endorsed the work of groups that spread pseudoscientific claims about transgender people and attempt to eliminate gender-affirming healthcare in the U.S. The former Congressman has been joined on the program by multiple sitting Republican members of Congress.

Analysts say both parties must walk a fine line on the issue to win voters
Republican lawmakers across the nation have introduced hundreds of bills targeting transgender individuals this year. At least 10 states have banned gender-affirming care for minors, and another 21 have introduced bills, even as multiple studies have found access to gender-affirming care reduces the risk of depression and suicide for trans children, who are more likely than not to have considered suicide. In at least five states, the GOP’s proposed gender-affirming care bans would also cover adults.
Nineteen states have also banned transgender students from participating in school sports matching their gender identity. Republican legislators in at least 16 states have offered bills that would restrict or ban drag performances, many of which are written broadly enough to restrict nearly all public cross-dressing.
Republicans in Congress have followed suit with bills that would ban gender-affirming care for minors, prohibit schools from teaching students about gender identity without prior parental consent, and place limits on transgender individuals serving in the military. The House Education Committee recently held a hearing on a bill that would amend Title IX to require student-athletes to compete based on their gender at birth. If it passed, the bill would ban an estimated 32 openly transgender NCAA athletes out of 480,000 total from playing on their preferred teams. …
All the while our real existential problems continue to be ignored, in favor of extremist religious bigots attempting to social engineer their little utopia on Earth.
Not sure how you mean that, but sure and by chump, guess I’m referring to how easily people are manipulated with utterly fabricated issues, this hysteria about people’s sexuality is an example keeping people attention away from the important basic issues of life.
What matters is how well we are at treating others, it’s about civility and respect and dignity and living up to one’s own responsibilities before screaming about other’s perceive failures. That doesn’t mean forgiving or liking everything, it means keeping a realistic perspective on what’s really important and what’s just window dressing.
Don’t you know , that’s why Trump is in court on charges of fraud and embezzlement.

That’s why conservatives (Republicans) are forbidding women the right over her own body.
That’s why conservatives (Republicans) are censoring books and art.
That’s why plutocracies consist of rich conservatives (Republicans). Shades of 1984.
You are so far in left (right) field you’re practically out-of-sight.
I would not say they are less human, but it’s much better to be straight. And their sexuality affects me because it’s being forced into the public square.
If Trump supporters want to donate to his cause that’s their choice. No one is being forced participate. Unlike how I am forced to pay for the nonstop illegal immigration to this country.
That’s your greatest problem? Illegal immigration? And why do you think all these illegal aliens choose this country to emigrate to? Could it be that people in the US enjoy extraordinary freedom from oppression and violence?

You’ve got to be kidding. Their sexuality is being forced on you? I didn’t know you were that attractive to the LGBTQ crowd. Do you dress provocatively?
Or do the way they dress offend your delicate eyes, ohhhhhh, it’s just “unbearable” (hissy fit). Somebody should do something about that freedom of expression, no?
You know what offends my eyes? Dead schoolchildren and teachers, because someone decided that school children offended their eyes and took out their BIG GUNs and tried to kill them ALL!
Have you ever kissed your girlfriend in public? If so, how is this different from two gay men or two lesbians kissing in public? Seems to me, if you kissed your girlfriend in public, you too are forcing it into the public square.
Nobody but you is forcing your sexuality on the rest of us, and that includes the LBGTQ communities.
Are you an Islamist who forces women to wear burkas for the past 2000 years because a woman’s figure is inherently seductive and sexually desirable to men.
IOW, punishing women for the animal instincts in men. Is that where you want to go? Everybody looks the same, acts the same and woe the woman who dares to challenge the system. She gets publicly flogged or stoned.
Are people with guns rounding up children and marching them down to the library?
When someone asks for equality, that’s not “pro”, that’s asking to not be oppressed.
On immigration, sure, your government caused that problem. It did it by supporting right wing dictators in Central America, leading to unstable governments and paramilitaries. You’d leave that country too.
Who’s teaching LBGT ideology? No one I know of. I don’t see anyone holding guns to people’s heads to learn it. I do see the Repugs holding guns to people’s heads to enforce their ideology of controlling people like dictators. Repugs don’t care how many women, along with the about to be born, die because they couldn’t terminate a pregnancy that will kill them. Repugs don’t care how many kids die in a mass school shooting, especially if they are of “colour”. They don’t care how many people suffer and die in poverty and poor health. It’s all about death to the Repugs. Not once have I met an LGBT who wants to go out an kill people, like the Repugs and their minions do.
Public Displays of Affection. I first heard the acronym in high school, where it was discouraged for kids while in the hallways. Hand-holding might pass, but not kissing.
Drag Queen Story Hours have been happening in libraries all over. They are just like any other event where people read to kids, except the readers are drag queens. I have seen exactly one blurry photo of someone showing their panties and their hand is close to it, and the claim is they were making sexually explicit movements. There’s no way to know from the pictures.
What I do know is, there are already laws about how you can act in front of children, and what you can say. There is no reason for a law that would mandate what you can wear while reading to children. Also, lots of children’s books show heterosexual activity, not sex, just the usual boy/girl affections or attractions. When the same things are girl/girl, it is now getting claimed to be pornography.
My niece, who is pretty conservative, but doesn’t talk politics much, has a facebook post of the Snowman from the movie Frozen that’s saying, “why did you stop?” At the bottom edge of the picture is a girl’s head, positioned near his middle section, pointed down, she’s saying, “brain freeze”.
Exactly the kind of thing a far-right person would say I should get the joke and not be offended.
