Try âorphan childrenâ, âautistic peopleâ, âpeople with dementiaâ, âpeople with brain injuriesâ. These are minorities of the population who have restricted rights because of their abilities. DES MOINES, Iowa â The Iowa Attorney Generalâs Office has paused its practice of paying for emergency contraception â and in rare cases, abortions â for victims of sexual assault, a move that drew criticism from some victim advocates. âŚ
Under Iowa law, money from the victim compensation fund is used to directly compensate victims of crimes, and to fund programs that provide them services and train law enforcement and victim services agencies to address human trafficking and domestic abuse.
The stateâs Sexual Assault Examination Payment Program, which is run by the attorney generalâs Crime Victims Assistance Division, specifically states that victims and their insurance companies are not to be billed for the cost of exams. The compensation fund covers the bills whether or not the victim chooses to report the assault to law enforcement.
But, of course it requires a few grams of compassion towards others,
to appreciate what harm this will do to real women, victimized by degenerate sadistic men.
