I have been watching all the election news, as, I’m sure, you all are as well and I saw a story about a county in Michigan refusing to certify the election results. The 2 Republicans on the commission took exception to, specifically, the results from an 80% black portion of the population with minor discrepancies while a 95% white portion of the population with much more discrepancies (which are normal in every election because the world isn’t perfect) was just fine by them.
You know what they’re doing, right? Federal law says that the legislators in the state send the electors of their choice to the electoral college if the state has not made a decision by the time the electoral college meets. They’re working under the flawed impression that “not accepting that decision” is the same as “haven’t made a decision”. That is what all of these lawsuits are about. They want to delay certification so that the Republicans legislators in these states get to override the people’s votes and make the choice themselves.
In a way I really wish it was a perfect storm and they actually got to do it to see the hell that would rain down on them for it. As it stands, however, the governors of all/most of these states are Democrats, who have the authority to send electors of their choosing if the legislators ignore the will of the people and those electors would be the legally valid electors. The backlash in Michigan was so fierce that the 2 Republicans sided with the 2 Democrats in unanimously certifying the entirety of the results, not just the white people’s votes, hours later.
Many Republicans in power (in low-level positions) really, really want to do this. This is a real Republican dream. But I promise you, not one state will do this. Not one. Slimy as Republicans are, there are adults in charge. They’re assholes, but they’re adults. They know this won’t work. They know the fury that awaits the Republican party if they allow this. They know that there would be massive political backlash at best. At worst, the civil war the ignorant Republican masses have been wanting for decades because they think they can “take the country back” from their neighbors, too damned stupid to realize a civil war would get millions killed and the only effect it would have would be to make Republicans tone it down going forward. Republican leadership doesn’t want what the ignorant masses they command want. All their rhetoric is to make the ignorant masses fall in line and vote the way they’re told. Anything more than that and “Republican” risks becoming synonymous with “Nazi” in the history books, which makes them very unpopular going forward.
Yes, Repubs are forced to play-act that they love America, democracy, rule of law, etc. They don’t and never have. They’re Nazis pure and simple. But the lesson they took away from WW2 was how NOT to get caught at it. I forget the author, but he said Fascism will come to America holding a flag and waving the bible. No different from the Nazis, but far more savvy and behind the scenes.
“President for all” simply means that he won’t set policy which says, “Screw those states which didn’t vote for me” like the current dipshit did constantly.

What is it I’m supposed to explain to you? Should I explain how “zero percent” is a number you should be suspicious of in a poll? Should I explain that the answers you get depend on how you ask the question? Should I explain that “rigged” isn’t clearly defined and respondents could be thinking of the 2000 or 2016 elections in which the Democrat won the popular vote but still not the presidency? Do you need me to explain gerrymandering to you and how some could see that as “rigging” elections? In what way are you claiming that 16% is “incredible”? Is it incredible because it’s so high? If your tax rate was 84% you wouldn’t think, “Wow! I get to take home SIXTEEN PERCENT of my earnings??? That’s incredible!!” Is it in any way confusing to you that Republicans, who have been told for 4 years now that the only way Donald Trump could ever lose is if the election was rigged, would hold that belief at a much higher rate? Do you need me to explain a “cult” to you and why Trumpism is like one? What, exactly, do you not understand here and why am I the perfect person to explain it to you?

Seeing "working across the isle" as "weakness" is idiotic. The people vote politicians into office to represent their values. OF COURSE you're going to have politicians who disagree. It's the very nature of a representative democracy. People from Texas aren't going to have the same values as people from California. It is the job of government to work for ALL the people WHILE representing their own constituents. That absolutely requires working across the isle.

You seem to know nothing about National Socialism. Do yourself a favor and look it up on Wikipedia. The far right is a very small group and is rejected by the vast majority of Repubs. Trump refused to condemn them just as Biden refused to condemn the Burn Loot Murder bunch; both wanted votes.
It was a different time and a different political situation - post WWI and the Treaty of Versailles.
People were simpler and tougher, as opposed to today’s world of lazy fat asses sitting behind computers.
Yet, there are too many parallels to dismiss it outright.
The manipulation of propaganda, the nurturing of fear and appeals to embracing ignorance, hatred and violence.
Proud Boy are today’s Brown Shirts - though the Hitler’s Brown Shirts would have turned an angry crowd of Trump’s Proud Boys to mashed pulp in about 3 to 5 minutes - so I agree comparisons can be faulted. But their hearts were in the same place.

As if the injustices that drove those protest don’t happen - When it’s well known they f’n well happen everyday, if your dark skinned, you have very good reason to be scared silly of attacks from all directions. (me I know this my tramping day on the streets as a younger man and seeing what I got away with compared, to that hapless darkie over there, who got nailed for any slight infraction or lack of 'respect") But Trump’s Supremacists can’t bring themselves to acknowledge that of that reality. So they reduce it to melodramatic black and white myths.
