Thatās quite thoughtful.
Indeed, there are no guarantees at all.
Are there?
Guy, how often have you been in a leadership position?
What was that like?
Oh, and incidentally, Iāll admit I am in awe of the woman and what sheās accomplished, and now, and now, to see who she paired off with. I mean beautiful! Yeah, sure guy, I know doesnāt change nothing about the world of poop weāre in, but it will save us from the horror trump and his billionaire overlords want to do to America.
And we will at least have decent humans running the show again, sure beats the billionaireās 2025 nazi projection. Hey, donāt take my word for it:
Michael Coard - July 12, 2024
If he wins, America will transition from a democratic republic to a totalitarian dictatorship. And thatās no hyperbole. Itās the frightening truth.
As Trump himself told Sean Hannity on Fox (so-called) News last year on December 6, he will, if elected, be āa dictatorā on āday one.ā
On Dec. 3, 2022, Trump called for āthe termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.ā He actually said that. In fact, he wrote it and posted it on social media.
As documented a few days ago on July 10 by Just Security- an online forum designed to rigorously analyze security, democracy, and foreign policy issues- which has created a āAutocracy Threat Tracker,ā Trump āand his advisers and associates have publicly discussed hundreds of ā¦ actions to be taken during a second [possible] Trump presidency that directly threaten democracy, the rule of law, as well as U.S. (and global) security.ā
On Aug. 15, 2017, Trump described Nazis in Charlottesville as āvery fine people.ā
Oh, back to Kamala and now Tim Walz (I mean that guy is a home run) I havenāt felt this good about the Democrats in a longtime. Iāve just spent the evening learning about Walzās background and listening to their Philadelphia rally and Tim Walzās introduction. Rockān Roll, those two have got us on fire, even better than the Obama run.
Iāll bet The Donaldās incontinence is worse than ever.
Iām ready to give a smart capable woman a try at leading this country out of the mess billionaires are trying their best to put us into. And now a real (and political) sharp shooter has Kamalaās back. Looks like itās going to be a fun election after all,
consider all the joy Kamala & Tim are injecting back into the process.
Oh and thereās this from RadaBusiness that I though you might like to take a look at ā¦
āNot only has Kamala Harris shattered the glass ceiling as the first Black and Asian woman to have become the Vice-President of the United States, she also has a communication and leadership style that is empathic, authentic and exudes what we call āexecutive presenceā,ā Lisa Akesson observes.
āWhen you observe her speaking, you can see that she is not afraid of allowing her personality and feminine style to merge with her confidence and gravitas. This conveys a dynamic persona. She has both warmth and a contagious smile that makes her approachable. This, combined with the deeper pitch and resonant tone of her voice, enables her to come across with a natural calm that is authoritative and credible. ā¦ā
No, there arenāt. I remember a line from some movie or book that the only guarantees in life are bad. The best we can do is recognize patterns and make predictions.
Yes, I led men in the military. I worked in EMS and had to make leadership decisions a few times there. I have a family and a business if you want to count that as leadership. Itās easy sometimes and hard other times.
Nothing wrong with voting for one candidate because they arenāt the other candidate. Thatās different from voting for someone because of their identity.
No, they donāt. Thereās many who want a patriarchy. I suggested making this [country] a matriarchy and one of my bosses objected, because women canāt do such a thing. āNo one respects a weak man.ā And heās generally a nice guy. Truth is, many human males canāt handle a woman in power, especially in the States.
This is such a divide now. This extreme belief that people vote for someone based solely on them being something other than a white-male-Christian. Itās especially odd coming from someone who, in recent posts, is saying āmen do better atā¦ā Every US President except one has had the 3 identities, and the one was only half non-white. Pew polls didnāt even bother asking until recently, and the numbers that would vote anything but those 3 were very low at first.
But, sure, voting for Kamala Harris is identity politics.
The longest conversation Iāve had included the other person describing their thought process as; seeing the non-white non-male and thinking something might be off, then doing research and finding there are problems with the candidate, then concluding it must be some DEI voodoo. His research included terms like āside chickā and āword saladā. His candidate āfools aroundā and ātells it like it isā, or something.
Who cares? I donāt. My sons are half white one moment and half Black the next. Sometimes they are Black and sometimes they are white. Some of us donāt give a hoot and think there are a lot of biracial and multiracial families in the country who really donāt care about that.
I knew we were in trouble as a nation and, really the whole world, right after I started voting. Democrats picked a female running mate, and I went, āhuh, interesting, I should find out a little about her since Iām probably going to vote Democrat.ā Meanwhile, the country went ape. And there was no Fox News. This was the āliberal eliteā media, like Ted Koppel on Meet The Press asking her if she could do her job, because, you know, sheās a woman.
So we got Reagan. I watch television shows from before 1984 with my mother who has dementia, and Reagan jokes are common. They arenāt so funny now.
You canāt convince me that it has taken 40 years for women to gain the skills and experience to qualify for President. Their were women then who already had it. It is obviously the other way around. Itās taken that long for people to tame and gain control over those who have the power over media, over education, over the churches.
Benazir Bhutto was the first woman to lead a Muslim country. The decade since an assassin killed her has revealed more about how Pakistan works than it has about who actually ordered her death.
Oh yes, I was eighteen and the first time I voted. I voted for Ferraro. I was very happy when I voted and disappointed when she lost.
Sounds typical of you. Youāve been sexist since you joined the forum, so this comment is no surprise. That is a two-way street you know? Men can be easy to break too.
Cāmon @thatoneguy, you canāt choose when to go into details and when to ignore them as it suits your needs.
This was my statement:
Of course she was elected. That was/is a clear fact. But what happened then? The title of the article is, āBenazir Bhutto assassination: How Pakistan covered up killingā. She was trying to get elected for a third time by the people. But the Pakistani government and religious leaders wanted her dead. They got their wish. They continued to muzzle the woman.
