Some have suggested only “men” are capable of providing good governance and such tripe. It’s been eating at me but I haven’t had time to write about it.
Still don’t, but can take a quick break from pulling driveway weeds, and share a thought, that found its way through my quiet weed pulling mind.
But then again,
it would just be my opinion, what do I know, besides the important of women in my own life.
So I’ll hand it over to people who have studied this and know what they are talking about:
A group of tourists visited a Crocodile Farm and was on a floating structure in the middle of a pool with many huge crocodiles. The owner of the Crocodile Farm threw a challenge to his guests: “Whoever dares to jump in, swim to the edge and survive, will be awarded with five hundred thousand dollars”.The silence was deafening… “No one dares to move.” Suddenly, a man jumped into the pool… he was chased by the crocodiles… but with luck, he eventually made it out of the pool, to the admiration of the other guests. The owner of the Crocodile Farm announced… “We have a brave winner” After collecting his reward and all was over, the couple went back to their hotel room. The “brave man” asked his wife… “I did not jump in… SOMEONE PUSHED ME ???” His wife smiled and coolly said, ” it’s me” So now you know.”Behind every successful man, is a woman that pushes him”.
Whoever compiled these lists seems to have a low bar on “making history”. The only one who is really memorable is Queen Victoria. Monarchies are a different story than democracies, because in a monarchy women can become an inspirational figurehead of a people in a way that’s not really accepted in liberal democracies.
It is usually true that there’s a great woman behind great men. Women are really good at helping out and just doing practical, necessary things like keeping a household in order. They are the glue that holds groups together. However, none of that makes them good leaders.
Do you know who do the hunting in the world of the King of Beasts, the lion? The females.
You are seriously mistaken. A country is but a large extended family where most of the men are engaged in making a living (or war) and most of the women do the housekeeping.
IOW it is women who are adept at keeping things in the house clean and orderly . They instinctively “know” how to run a household or office, of any size. 3, 30, 300, 300 million. It’s all the same.
Humans in general are not good at managing huge numbers of people. We still have that hunter-gatherer side of us where we function better in small groups where everybody knows each other. That’s why governments have become so complex.
On that note, leadership and management are two different things.
I don’t mean this as an insult, simply an example of what it looks like when you remain confined within your mindscape (read human “Ego”).
Have you thought about microorganisms and how they created the most unique geology and minerals to be found in the universe? Why don’t they count? Plus like Write points out, lots of animals living from various kingdoms do in coordinated groups.
Of course, none in the style, or the level of self-aware intellect that humans possess, but very effective nonetheless. But that’s a different matter.
It’s all so much more complicated and interwoven, than any of our traditional conceptions can embrace.
Here’s a brand new book, I’m only towards the end of chapter two, but it starts out excellent, and I believe it’ll continue being an excellent distillation of modern biological and evolutionary findings - and how they demand that we reexamine our simplistic assumptions.
I must refer you to this Ted Talk by Bonnie Bassler.
She will educate you how bacteria communicate with each other so that they can act “in concert”.
Their language is called “quorum sensing”. This is a “must know” lecture.
So what? They’re few and far between. By that logic you could say English people are great at music because The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones were English. Outliers don’t define the whole group.
We can with a hell of a lot of blood, sweat and tears.
In this country judges are the top managers of the legal system. But that’s mostly irrelevant anyway because most politicians are lawyers and that doesn’t automatically make one good at politics.
Leadership isn’t even something lawyers have to worry about. However, good management is necessary for a law firm to be successful. There’s plenty of other examples of how leadership and management aren’t the same.
This guy gets the troll gold medal. He has cultivated a persona here that makes it plausible that he believes this. I completely disgaree with this on every level, but can’t fault how he presents it. It’s at once insane and fitting with some reality of opinion somewhere.
Opinions of her as California AG seem mixed. California is in bad shape, though – which is not entirely her fault.
Still, if you want to use her time as senior law enforcement official in CA as proof of how good she would be as president, then she leaves a lot to be desired.
You do have a point there. Women are good at leading small children.
It’s bizarre that you think I couldn’t really believe this.
