Is the Pentagon being paranoid and nonsensical about the tRump ?

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/25/us/politics/trump-military-election.html

…senior leaders at the Pentagon, speaking on the condition of anonymity, acknowledged that they were talking among themselves about what to do if Mr. Trump, who will still be president from Election Day to Inauguration Day, invokes the Insurrection Act and tries to send troops into the streets, as he threatened to do during the protests against police brutality and systemic racism. Both General Milley and Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper opposed the move then, and Mr. Trump backed down.

The concerns are not unfounded. The Insurrection Act, a two-century-old law, enables a president to send in active-duty military troops to quell disturbances over the objections of governors. Mr. Trump, who refers to the armed forces as “my military” and “my generals,” has lumped them with other supporters like Bikers for Trump, who could offer backup in the face of opposition.

Well, nonsense and the pentagon do go hand in hand. Though I doubt there is much paranoia going around.

Paranoia is about irrational fears.

There’s always a faction in every military organization to obey a superior’s order. The question is will they be overruled by cooler heads. The present reality is we don’t know what Donald Trump will do if he feels threatened with losing the election and losing all the legal protections he now enjoys. Is it realistic to think he’ll gracefully exit with his best wishes to the new administration? I don’t. He’s already given very clear signals that he doesn’t intend to concede if he loses, and he will lose. The biggest test for our democracy is only weeks away.

If Trump refused to leave the White House he would simply be escorted out by the secret service on january 20.

Presidents don’t have the authority to order the military to ignore the constitution so that ain’t gonna happen.

Trump can't lose. He is anticipating an election mess on November 3. If that happens, he will contest the results all the way to the Supreme Court. If the Court rules against him, he will gracefully exit. If the Court rules in his favor, he will use the full power of his office to crush the resistance. And he will do it with his military, as Commander-in-Chief, without mercy. May God have mercy on the peaceful protestors.

From the looks of things, the dotard will lose. Of course, that’s what it looked like with Hillary, who got the popular vote and then the dotard stole the election via the E.C., which should not have happened. Of course, I still say and there is evidence of this, Russia helped steal the last election for him. However, the dotard can lose and contesting will show he wants to be a fascist dictator.

You assume a lot of people will cooperate. Not to mention world leaders won't recognize him as the legitimate President.

@lausten

Something is not right with your posts. How come?

As I pointed out before, 80% of Americans are married with kids. This is not an assumption but a verifiable fact. These folks need a stable country so they can go to work, put food on the table, and raise their families in a crime-free society protected by law enforcement. They will want and cooperate with a Trump presidency to crush the losers and suckers out to create mayhem in the streets.

World leaders have no choice but to recognize Trump because he is the most powerful tough guy on the block standing between them and the bad guys.

I post here just like everyone. I didn’t write the software

It won't be that dramatic.

I know. The resistance may evaporate on its own in the face of a rejuvenated economy.

The count down to a return to normalcy has just a few weeks left but the national nightmare may persist until January 20th. After Trump loses the election his only option will be to lash out and do as much damage as he can.

BTW I’ve not heard from TimB. I very much hope he’s alright. His witty, incisive entries are always a pleasure to read. I’d send him an email if I knew how. I am technologically inept.

The rumors of my death have been mildly exagerated.

But my posting is severely limited.

I leave
it to you other Truth tellers to take the lead.

I don’t read every post. But when I do I’m glad to see one from timb.

I’m the same way, Lausten. Glad to see you back, Timb
