Postmortem time,

A) Democrats failed to address the White Supremacist current driving this MAGA movement - and failing to make it a national discussion.

B) Democrats failed to define and impress why a healthy government is what we the people need and want to defend.

Failing to confront the idiot desire to burn it all down, which has infected so, so many thoughtless people who haven’t a clue the stakes we were gambling with this election.

My historically politically awareness spans the inspiration and some dream of competitive cooperation, where values, and honor means something. But the standard barer for that dream had his head blown off, and under-educated oil men moved into Washington.

Fast forward six decades, and a huge portion of our people choose a man of zero moral scruples, no sense of ethics, no inner pride in a job well done (be it small or large), more beholden to Russian than America and always foremost in mind is getting the most for the least, along with dreams of superiority over others. That is the dream within the bosom of what is it half, or is it even worse than that. The oligarch have achieved their hostile take over of American’s government.

Don’t know how much more self-absorbed and self-serving things can be. It’s our defining trait and we’ve defended it with all we had, no matter how much horror lay in its wake, but better not mention such things in polite company.

I’ve had nearly a decade to contemplate this transformation in our politics, and I remain completely mystified by it.

I’ve been watching, occasional actively opposing, foolish, obviously counter-productive decisions being made since graduating high school in the early 70’s, today’s profound shift in American’s thinking, is the culmination drip drip drip of decades worth of thoughtless (as in disregarding consequences) decisions and manipulated priorities and a slow shift automatizing humans.
Doesn’t make it any less horrendous to process.
Inner solidity & knowing oneself, and one’s connection to time and Earth is more important than ever.

So this is our destiny, now we watch as MAGA leads us to nothing but more hatred, destruction and agony and wasted precious time, like every other freak’n time throughout history. All the while ignoring the climate engine and biosphere we depend on for everything.
Will we ever learn?

A gross oversimplification. Inspiration can be similar to riled up, i.e. populism. I think its deeper. Trump tapped some of the anger and converted it to votes. But anger at the system is normally seen as “screw it” and not participating.

Like I’ve pointed out in the past, we’ve already learned these lessons plenty of times throughout history - so the ultimate ruinous outcome shouldn’t surprise anyone. Though it will.

You are correct, these forces have been at war since before we had a country, back into history, under different guises - reinforced by our collective utterly self-absorbed thinking and self-serving actions.

A passionate blind love for progress, while refusing to honesty look at, & confront, all the down sides that this progress produces for other people and this Earth we depend on.

Clinging to obsolete philosophy tailored to a totally different era in human history. A philosophy that remains focused on the glory of mankind as if this Earth that produced us doesn’t matter. A philosophy, that still hasn’t faced up to and incorporated the evolutionary/biological realities of our lives, nor done anything to underscore human dependence upon a healthy Earth into our thoughts.

I know you’ll say it’s my same old story, but so is our philosophy, and it is, what it is. Root causes are root cause, like it or not.

Oh and thinking about Earth, now those billionaires will be able to cancel all inconvenient regulations, that’s going to work great, ya think?
