GOP viciousness reaches new heights - Right Wing Extremist SCOTUS declares war on women

Simple maths : Ovulation phase lasts roughly 4 days.

It means that, roughly, when 100 women are raped, roughly 14 can become pregnant. Only 5 do and it is significant !!!

How should it be taken besides literally?

The claim that pregnancy occurs when sperm in in the vagina is simply incorrect.

Twenty-five percent and up.

[quote=“thatoneguy, post:64, topic:9418, full:true”]

5% is much as in fact:

  • women who become pregnant are not using pills and other mechanical preservatives when over 60 % of the women in USA use contraceptives.
  • some raped women are under age or over age and cannot procreate. Lets say 75 %.
  • if from 14 women in their fertile days, 5 become pregnant, it is 5/14 = 35, 71 %.

All added, it means that raped women who become pregnant are in their fertile age and day, not using contraceptive.

I am not good at maths and i think i am making a mistake:

100 x 75 % x 60 % x 14 % = 6, 3%

If from 7 women raped able to have a child 5 become pregnant, 71 % is more than significative.

Another way to look if it is significant is to search for the number or these women who would have become pregnant if not raped. and this number is very small.

All these discussions about percentages are non-productive.

Regardless of percentages, the question is not how many “persons” are aborted but if a timely abortion is performed before a fetus becomes a “person” to begin with.

It is clearly ridiculous to say that a person is created at the time of conception. Even a fertilized egg may never reach the uterus and just gets “flushed” (not aborted) during menstruation. If every fertilized egg was a person, every woman who had more than one period would be a mass murderer.

A fertilized egg is a human potentiality. It must clear a number of hurdles before it can take on the mantle of personhood.

Besides, this is supposed to be about a woman’s sovereignty over her own body!

It’s about a woman right to self-defense!

It’s about a woman’s right to make her own choices, no matter how much she’s been bullied and abused by men!

It’s about a government having no business in telling woman to make babies,
unless they are doing it to created more future soldiers to fight in wars, which in turn blasts the heck out of the phony right-to life moral outrage over the killing of an unformed potentiality.

According to the Bile, it’s not a person until first breath- at least according to the Jews. I’m willing to go with that definition, as well as it being a baby, if the woman desire said pregnancy.

Very true. If a period is late, it probably was a spontaneous abortion, aka miscarriage.

Most definitely. It is also sometimes a necessary health care, especially in cases where the woman may die if she carries the pregnancy to term.

I agree with both.

And i think that a time limit should be set except if the woman life is in danger or if the fetus is very abnormal. To abort a 3 weeks fetus and a 8 months one is not the same thing.

And a 16 weeks limit seems fair to me.

I agree, unless the woman’s life is at risk, which now that I read what you said again, you did say.

That means you disagree with this

You can’t dictate your male opinion in that same breath you say a woman deserves sovereignty over her own body.

How about simply accepting that a woman’s life is more important than an unborn fetuses life! Period.
This simply isn’t an issue that full and part-time misogynist have any moral or ethical right to interfere with - but then since when has morality or ethics slowed down anyone. There is that f’n golden rule.

Pleae, keep the whole:

Nobody is totally sovereign upon his body and himself.

The European courts of rights which is not a religious bigot instance has judged that abortion is not a question of privacy, because at some stage, the fetus is distinct form the mother.

One can agree with a right of women to abort and think that some limits are fair.

I Have read judge Alito draft and wanted to give a reasoned opinion about it, i needed to make some complementary research and lack time, sorry.

Caveat, I’m talking in generalities and not attacking you personally, but the blissful superiority complex we’ve been raised to possess and that we’re not even aware of most the time

Yeah but his body and himself can march around with a AR15 and feel sovereign enough to march into a school and blast away a bunch of genuine innocents.

When have you ever found yourself in a position of needing an abortion, I mean what even gets into men’s heads that they assume they have the right to make such a ruling?

Are you a doctor that deals with woman and their health issues? Have you ever been faced with a pregnancy ready to destroy the life you were creating? Or are you like me some under informed outsider looking in?

I guess I’m wondering what do you think gives any man (especial casual outsiders) the background and understanding to dispense general guidelines regarding woman’s health issues with more complexities than any man can fully appreciate?

What they do want ?

GOP Rep. Jim Jordan deletes tweet calling the story of a 10-year-old girl being raped ‘another lie’ after Ohio authorities charged a man in the case (yahoo.com)

Republican Rep. Jim Jordan deleted a tweet on Wednesday in which he called the story of a 10-year-old Ohio girl receiving an abortion after being raped “another lie” following the arrest of a man in connection with the case.

There is just no bottom to these people.

And sends a message to the religious people who have hitched their wagon to the NEW Republican Party that believes lying is justifiable.

One of the great moral lessons is contained in the 10 Commandments; :
“Thou shalt not bear false witness”

This makes for some interesting listening for those who are wondering where the GOP is headed.

TERRY GROSS, HOST:

This is FRESH AIR. I’m Terry Gross. “Does Hungary Offer A Glimpse Of Our Authoritarian Future?” That’s the title of a New Yorker article by my guest, Andrew Marantz. He writes, quote, “American conservatives recently hosted their flagship conference, CPAC, in Hungary, a country that experts call an autocracy. Its leader, Viktor Orban, provides a potential model of what a Trump after Trump might look like,” unquote.

Orban’s administration has rewritten parts of the constitution, appointed judges who will do his bidding, created voting rules that favor Orban’s party and make it hard for them to lose and has control over most media outlets. What many liberals fear is a leader who, like Trump, would be able to fire up voters through fear, racial dog whistles, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia and disinformation but, unlike Trump, would not only know how to weaken civic institutions and shatter norms, but would also have a strategic political plan to maintain power and pass legislation instead of spending so much time watching TV and worrying about his media profile.

The next domestic conference organized by CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, will be held next month in Dallas. One of the guest speakers will be Viktor Orban. Andrew Marantz previously joined us in 2019 to talk about his book, “Antisocial: Online Extremists, Techno-Utopians, And The Hijacking Of The American Conversation.” …

Here’s are some great observations:

Chris Hayes: Trump was not shy about the fact that he would never accept an election loss. And just because some people, like Pat Cipollone, lied to themselves and collaborated with this monstrous sociopath who almost ended American democracy, that does not mean that it was a hard thing to see.

4:30 A disregard for facts. “Dude who do you think you were working for, wtf” - Well said Chris Hayes! thanks
