Check the expiration date on your ID!

I just realized something important that’s going on right now, at least in Iowa, that nobody seems to have noticed yet. Because of Covid the expiration of driver’s licenses was extended, so a lot of people’s licenses and IDs are expiring all at once. On top of that, also because of Covid, the DOT is not taking walk-in customers. It is by appointment only. I just had someone say that they called today and the earliest they could get an appointment just to get their picture taken was early September, about a week from today.

For some reason an expired license or ID, even a recently expired one, is not a valid form of identification. You can’t cash a check if your ID expired yesterday. And, in Iowa, you can’t vote if your ID is expired.

Now I am not thinking this is some huge conservative conspiracy or anything. It was only extended until, I think, August 23, giving people more than 2 full months of notice to get an appointment made, for which there is about a 1 week wait. But still, we all need to be absolutely certain, without doubt that the Republican push to disenfranchise voters works absolutely as little as possible.

Politics aside, thanks for the heads up. We all need to be mindful of the timely renewal of this photo ID. Mine expires 2023.

Good catch, Widdershins. The word needs to get out.

But maybe don’t tell all of your conservative acquaintances.

I was able to get mine renewed in May. They took my name down the day I went to renew and called my cell when they were ready for me, so I was free to wait in the comfort of my own home. Mine doesn’t expire until 2026.

You (&^%#$ )&%#$, we are in the middle of a Pandemic killing thousands, that didn’t need to be what it’s turned into. We have massive unrest in our streets like we haven’t seen in a long time. Impacts of AGW thanks to neglected scientific realities and disregard for our children’ future.

What’s working in our government is working because of inertia left over from the good ol days and that trump’s team hasn’t had a chance to totally fuk it up yet.

And so on and so forth.

Out here in the real world things are looking pretty ugly
I can examine all the charges against Trump one by one without bias. Let's see if you are willing to do this also.
Coronavirus response. Isn't this the job of State Governors? Even funds needed for the response had to be approved by Congress. How did Trump stand in the way of the coronavirus response in the US?

@citizenschallengev3

America’s military alliances. This alliance with western powers in the form of NATO was set up after WW2 to confront the Soviet Union and the spread of communism. The Soviet Union collapsed and disappeared for nearly 30 years. The only significant communist country today is China that has been a major trading partner of the US for the last 40 years. China is not practicing communism but a socialist version of American capitalism.

Trump’s foreign policy doctrine is to stop endless wars. It should lead to the eventual dismantling of all military alliances. This is a humanist approach to world peace. Hopefully, the next four years would enable Trump to bring about global nuclear disarmament.

US power and influence are obnoxious. It’s time we got rid of this offensive nationalistic traits.

Sree said: "US power and influence are obnoxious. It’s time we got rid of this offensive nationalistic traits."
So now you are to the extreme left of AOC?

Sree, you are about as consistent as your hero, the t rump.

Sree, you are about as consistent as your hero, the t rump.
In that case, I ought to run for President in 2024. I want to modernize the Constitution to restrict public office to the best and the brightest in the land. No more donkeys in Congress and the White House.

@sree

Are you thankful that you are living in a country that works?

No it doesn’t. It’s not working at all. Not that I care, because I don’t fly, but I won’t be flying or going into any federal government buildings due to the sexism involved. The DMV would/could not accept my divorce papers from previous marriage to show I went by that name. They wanted me to drive all the way back to my hometown, during a pandemic for my marriage license to a man I am no longer married to. They accepted my birth certificate and my current marriage license to the man I’m married to now, but the divorce papers to my previous husband were not acceptable. Men do not have to go through that crap. I told them that was so sexist and oddly enough the woman behind the counter said she thought so too. So… I end up with the regular driver’s license we’d been using, which probably keeps me from going to jury duty in the near future because I can’t enter a federal building. When there is sexism and racism the country is not working nor is it working in this pandemic either. So I don’t see how you get that this country id working. Maybe for rich white men it is, but not for minorities and women are a minority group, despite being majority in population.

@sree

Coronavirus response. Isn’t this the job of State Governors? Even funds needed for the response had to be approved by Congress. How did Trump stand in the way of the coronavirus response in the US?

No it’s not. Why do you think President Obama created the Pandemic Response Task Force, which the dotard destroyed, not caring about how many people died in the U.S.? That Pandemic Response kept Ebola from going out of control in the U.S. and kept the Swine Flu from being widespread in the U.S. too. This nation would have been better off if the dotard know what he was doing- he doesn’t know what he’s doing, especially when he hates so much that he destroys the very things that keep this country afloat, saving lives. The dotard is the stupidest and most destructive thing we’ve had in the Big House since the Do Nothings. The dotard is even destroying the work FDR did for this country and has help millions for decades too. FDR created social security, which is not an entitlement or a benefit, is something every working U.S. citizen has paid into all their adult lives and is to be given back upon retirement or if one becomes disabled or a parent dies, then the young children receive it. It’s not welfare either. Then there is the post office that is more part of the U.S. then apple pie. It’s been around almost since this country came into being and the idiot is destroying that too. None of that is the Governors’ jobs The post office is congress’ job and the pandemic was sadly part of the idiot’s job, but he’s a BIG FAILURE and doesn’t care that almost, if not actually, 200,000 U.S. citizens have died, which is unacceptable and he, as well as He Who Is Not Worth His Name and Moscow Mitch, should be dragged out and locked up for their crimes against humanity.

@sree

In that case, I ought to run for President in 2024. I want to modernize the Constitution to restrict public office to the best and the brightest in the land. No more donkeys in Congress and the White House.

You sure do ignore the elephant in the room don’t you? The Constitution was written to last for hundreds of years with the way it was written. It’s as modern now as it was then.

@sree

US power and influence are obnoxious. It’s time we got rid of this offensive nationalistic traits.

You delude yourself. The dotard is all about Nationalism, just like Hitler. China IS Communism, not socialistic and Russia has a dictator, up there with Stalin, Mussolini, and Hitler (he’s killed a lot of people) and bed buddies with the dotard. The dotard admires how Putin runs things, yet Russia has a failing economy still. Did you know the U.S. is the only advanced country on earth that doesn’t have socialized medicine. Of course, under the dotard’s dic[tator]ship, we’ve become a 3rd world country and hardly advanced.

The t rump has been an utter failure as our country’s head of state.

AN UTTER FAILURE!!!

In that case, I ought to run for President in 2024. -- Sree
There was a guy in MN, an artist, who ran for governor every cycle. I don't know how he managed to get enough signatures, but he made a speech every year in the first round of voting at the state convention. It was kind of a mix of some left wing lunacy and the occasional good point about more funding for compassionate programs. I've thought about doing something like that. I think I would run as the Silly Party though.

Good idea. Let’s all run against sree in 2024. (Though I will still probably vote for Biden or Harris, whichever one is running for POTUS, then).

The Constitution was written to last for hundreds of years with the way it was written. It’s as modern now as it was then.
The founding principles are morally sound and they make the Constitution eternally applicable. However, our way of life has changed. We no longer use the horse and buggy or move farm produce across the US in covered wagons drawn by oxen.

Advances in science must bring improvement to the way we govern ourselves. Our approach to healthcare should be informed by advances in medical knowledge to keep us healthy rather than deal with self-inflicted diseases of a bad lifestyle. For example, you are a vegetarian. There are health benefits to eating this way. The entire nation should be encouraged to go vegetarian. This would do away with the cruel mass slaughter of farm animals. Isn’t this consistent with a humanistic way of life? The elimination of animal meat and fat from our diet could reduce the incidence of heart disease and cancers, major killers, and burdens on the economy.

To govern well, we can’t have bozos in Congress. Amendment to the Constitution is necessary to keep idiots out. Democracy can no longer be a bunch of dumbasses sending their clown to Washington DC.
