Really? High School Philosophy? Descartes’ evil demon?
I would use the same tools I’m using now to explore my universe. I would test my hypotheses against whatever limits the game set.

But Tegmark is an intellectual entertainer, cosmologist.
The answers are down here.
We are organic creatures, evolved animals, cousins to all mammals, the product of Earth’s evolutionary processes.
Or not. Like I said nothing that you are comes from you but outside of you. So it’s not you. None of your desires, drives, etc are yours but rather what society put into you.
You can turn off feelings it just takes a while to do so.
Not really no, we don’t have an animals nature. And as I already explained they aren’t your feelings.
You still haven’t been able to refute what I’ve said. Nothing about you is really you. All your deepest emotions and dreams are just programming by society.
A stupid question just like everything dealing with simulations or something like solipsism.
What’s the point of trying to refute, you don’t have the interest in an actual constructive dialogue. You don’t want to learn, you want to gloat over your superior insights, which is . . .
that nothing is anything ???
Yep, dense dynamic patterns of biochemical structures and sets of biochemical symbionts. And a brain (another dense pattern), that has a “mind” to monitor its own existence.
If that is all you see, that’s all you see. Okay.
Perhaps that’s all you see from my posts. But I believe that of all the dense patterns in the universe, life on earth is a rare kind of pattern, biological and organic .
The human brain has more synapses than planets in our galaxy. That is all? Yes, and its a lot.
Interesting. I took a course, I’m not sure what the title was now, it was a while ago. The first question we were asked to think about was, “what are the boundaries of ‘you’?”
On a biology basis, yes, there was no ‘me’ that was then filled in by matter and energy. First there was other things, then, there was me. DNA from my parents being the most obvious.
But if you are talking about the formation of my personality, after some months of being completely dependent on others for survival, there still is a lot of ‘me’ that was formed by external forces. Again, obvious. We don’t spontaneously form ourselves.
So, where are you drawing this line of ‘you’?
Because so far you haven’t really refuted what I have said. Everything you feel is just following a script society sets forth. There’s nothing for me to learn because what you’ve said so far is basically wrong.
Pretty much if you weren’t born with it and it’s not inherent to you then it’s not you.
Cause and effect is a human thing and might not be reflective of reality.
Well, obvious follow-up. What’s inherent to you, and how do you know?
That’s funny, sure that’s why Lausten and I lock horns, because I’m too attuned to our Abrahamic self-absorbed self-serving societal script of the past couple millennia.
Obviously you haven’t done me the courtesy of becoming familiar with what I’m writing about, and what you’re offer is utterly vacuous. So it’s a standoff.
Speaking of vacuous, there’s a hum-dinger.
Cause and effect is a universal thing. It is the foundation of deterministic change.
May I ask how did you come to humanism?
We have enough thread hijackers here. Can we not make every thread about humanism?
I understand, sorry. Where can I ask this kind of question?
You’re already asking it all over
