Understood.
Ok for the book. Congratulations.
I was raised in an atheist family (also, as you can guess, the grandparents were raised in Catholicism, or are still more or less catholic), because my family is in the majority communist and socialist.
My grandmother was educated by Catholic nuns, and she used to narrate how it was with still a lot of emotions (lots of abuse apparently).
The Judeo-Christian thing is a very European thing, which pervades a lot of our culture, although in new and different forms (hence my topic on “Socialism, Christianism and humanism”).
Sad to see that it moved to the US to such an extent.
Having been raised in an atheist family, I feel a bit foreign to your experience. Please forgive me if I happen to be clumsy talking about it at one time, by unacknowledged ignorance.
I think though I can relate with what you described, since, again, it’s an European thing, and it was described in many movies, etc. I think I have a bit of an idea.
