Biden administration issues a Voluntary Action Indicated (VAI) in 2021. This kept the plant open. But shut down the Baby Formula line. Abbott did not just one day decide to shut down it’s Baby Formula product line for seven months for the hell of it. In Sept 2019 Abbott had a VAI and could not start up until re-inspection. It took two years for the Biden administration to re-inspect. March 22, 2022 FDA concluded its follow-up inspection. On May 14th of this month the political CDC closed its investigation into Abbott.
A president cannot act on his own, unless he uses an executive order and even that is limited with power. There is such a thing as checks and balances in the U.S. government and for a president to do much of anything also takes the agreement of congress. Notice, you also mentioned the CDC and the FDA too. This another part of checks and balances, so again, President Biden did not do any of this by himself. So stop blaming President Biden for everything when he did not do it all by himself. He didn’t do it by himself.

Abbott was shut down because babies were dying from Abbott’s baby formula according to FDA.
The FDA and CDC both were involved in investigating Abbott. Congress went after Abbott’s tax payments. Looked to me like the cancel culture was operating in DC.
On May 16, 2022 the CDC concluded its investigation with no findings of a link between Abbott formulas and infant illnesses. DNA showed that the illnesses were not connected to Abbott in any way.
Two years of investigations. Then blame Abbott for the shortage. Is it your viewpoint that Abbott shut itself down when they were claiming the deaths were not connected to them. The FDA now says Abbott can sell the baby formula that it recalled.
A key point is that today the FDA is in a Capital hearing telling congress it plans to investigate the “timeliness” of the FDA response to Abbott plant. In other words, it will be investigating itself. We all know the outcome of that investigation before it starts.
Yes. Trump was at the end of his Presidency when the FDA started the investigation into Abbott. I don’t personally think the lab was the problem. I think it was the issue. For example. Costal drilling for oil in California was shut down because of an oil spill. Then geothermal energy drilling was shut down because of earthquakes. Common factor was political objectives using government employee scientists to regulate the industrial scientists and industry. Abbott most likely viewed the FDA as a pain in the butt and a bunch of college hired employees who couldn’t get a job in the industrial world. Abbott is driven by the higher standards of the insurance industry.
