Well it’s been 11 days since the death total was about 26,000. I expected that to double by now but the current total is only 51,000, rather than 52,000.
Hence the doubling rate, now, since then, been 11.5 days. This represents a continuing extension of the doubling time, since I started tracking it in this thread. I started when the total was 780. That number doubled twice a week for a while. The the doubling number time extended to once a week. Now it has been 11.5 days.
Going on the assumption that it will continue to extend at a similar rate, starting from now, I would estimate that the next doubling time will be reached in about 24 days. Thus 52,000 will become 104,000, if this Model plays out, around May 19th.
Unfortunately, this virus has a few unpleasant surprises in store for us. For instance,

I don’t know if you recall, but, while the Impeachment was going on (maybe even before it started), I knew that T rump could not be successfully impeached and that he would then, in the real sense, become above the law. I was projecting that T rump would act however he wished, subsequently, because why wouldn’t he?
And thus another of my early prophecies continues to come true.
As far as him cancelling the election, he could, I think find a way to do that, and to just take over as a true DOTUS. But if half of the nation was denied their right to vote, I imagine that T rump would need to be extraordinarily cautious in order to avoid an overthrow.
Maybe. like you say, that would be enough to wake up the masses. But then the right wing will get the bloodbath they’ve been arming up for and fabrication all that contrive hatred and rage, at poop they made up in their own heads.
Oh and I don’t mean to dis your predictive powers, but all one had to do was watch the Democrats limp wrist, half measure performance. Kavenaugh proved to Republican all they needed to do was yell at our Democratic Senators and representative and they’d curl up and get out of the way of the Republican bandwagon.
I too, wish that most Dems would be as manly and forceful in doing their jobs as you and I are, in presenting our ideas, CC.

The Dark April continues. Americans under the sway of T rump are decreasing social distancing in States all around the country, AT THE POINT WHERE the infections have RECENTLY HIT THEIR HIGH POINT OR HAVE NOT EVEN HIT THEIR HIGH POINT.
So, in terms of deaths from COVID19, I think we can expect them to continue. Any falling rates over the next two-three weeks will likely be boosted back up, when, after that point, the new transmission of cases will have begun to show up in the Stats.
Pence, I heard, said the pandemic will be over by Memorial Day. I expect that, on Memorial Day, he will hope that no one remembers that he said that.
It looks to me like severe economic devastation is no longer possible to avoid. Attempts to open the economy are not accompanied by the guidance of testing (except to some extent, now, in NY). Hence they will result in more infections.
It is a Dark April.

This disease is so insidious and I wish the governors of various states would stand up the to dotard and refuse to reopen for a little while long due to the insidiousness of this virus. We really do need to keep Stay Home Orders in place for another month or two, despite some people being selfish and greedy. We need to stay home for the sake of the economy, not the other way around, but no, the Dotard’s minions don’t care if the living die, but get an abortion and they all get up in arms. rolling eyes
Yes, Mriana. I just read the article where a CFI guest author, V. Bhardwaj, said that the indicator of when to open up, from strict social distancing measures, should be no sooner than when the # of new cases has been zero for 2 weeks.
That is not what is happening. There are States that are starting to open up, but their rates ARE GOING UP. And they do not have adequate testing in place. Thus they are very likely to fail.
Oh, today I saw T rump lying about how wonderful our testing system has been, is and will be compared to the rest of the world.
At the same time, he also had to throw in that there are some persons who think that having testing is not really needed.
Another mixed message in a time that we dearly need true and real leadership.
The dotard lies about everything. He should know that disinfectants will kill people if ingested. He’ll probably lie about numbers going up after stay at home is rescinded. Thing is any intelligent person, with any common sense should know that the virus is still out there and people will get sick and maybe even die if we don’t stay at home. Those of us who can because their job doesn’t demand they come out for work. I go to work and come home. I don’t do anything else and even if things are reopened, I still won’t do anything else until there is a vaccine because of the virus. I’ll vote- hopefully not risk my life to do it though.
Speaking of testing:
This Virginia man, a former executioner, turned anti-death penalty activist, has died form complications associated with C-19. It seems that fate did not commute his own death sentence. Now he no longer has to fear that of the 62 people he executed, during his career, one or more may have been innocent.
I imagine he did plenty of that during his living years. May he rest in eternal silent dark peace, just like the rest of us. Which seems a real shame when one thinks of some of the living two legged monsters running around, who never will get their reckoning. Now that one is a shame.
I reckon we all pretty much get to the same destination along one route or another.
