This is awful.
I’m guessing that it would be also illegal to be atheist there too?

Unbelievable. People who have the choice to work and/or live in Dubai, strongly need to assess doing so.

UPDATE - I just looked her name up online and found reports that she has been pardoned.

How big of them. I wonder what the "pardon" entails. Just 10 minutes of stoning, perhaps? Lois

Jessica Simpson did a show called, “The Price of Beauty”, where she would go to various different countries to investigate how other cultures represent designs and how women perceive beauty. What was interesting is that she went to Morocco to interview a group of Muslim women in this regard. She had what was apparently a supposed liberal Muslim woman with her fundamentalist mother there. Ironically, the fundamentalist women didn’t mind or, at least, was not offended by Jessica’s apparel. However, it was the relatively liberal daughter who was almost enraged by her clothes and insulted! see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm4BaHlo3h0

There are many factors at work here and the least is a girl's personal opinion. (she's not supposed to have any, anyway.). She may simply have never been exposed to different ways of thinking, or she's been thoroughly indoctrinated and she wanted to "prove" her worth as a potential wife, for example. There are probably other factors, too. But I still think that as time goes by, a larger and larger proportion of women will break out ofthe mold created for them. Itbis a slow process. Lois
