Why do Evangelicals demonstrate zero moral fiber?

Here’s one thing I’ve noticed about Evangelicals since the 80s when I’d occasionally lend them my ear - they are self-centered and they mold their morality to the convenience of the moment and their own desires. Prosperity Doctrine for example. But, when push comes to shove there are no principles beyond we are so high and mighty full of ourselves because we’re self-certain that we have unraveled the mystery of God. And that god is there to serve us.
Screaming about Right To Life and attacking defenseless pregnant woman, while waving flags and going rah rah to Cheney/Bush’s war of profit that destroyed countless innocent lives, with Hollywood blockbuster inspired shock’n awe, without a damned second thought. >:-(
Yeah, their phenomenal hypocrisy and double-standards have been obvious for decades, but this Trump crap really brings it out.
It’ll be a eye opener seeing how many votes that man actually gets. Would love to believe he get’s blown out of the water, but unfortunately . . .

Many Evangelical Leaders Would Stick With Trump Even If He Were A Cold-Blooded Killer 10/11/2016 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michelangelo-signorile/many-evangelical-leaders-would-stick-with-trump-even-if-he-were-cold-blooded-killer_b_12440108.html Donald Trump said back in January that he “could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody" and he still wouldn’t lose support. From their words and deeds in recent days, it appears that many evangelical leaders would be among the first to announce their continued allegiance if Trump did such a thing. Despite a blistering editorial today in Christianity Today, the flagship magazine of American evangelicalism, and despite noted evangelical theologian Wayne Grudem in recent days joining Russell Moore of the Southern Baptist Convention, who has condemned Trump for a long time, most prominent evangelical leaders are sticking by the GOP nominee after the surfacing on Friday of the explosive tape that has sent his campaign into a spiral. They invoke the “we’re all sinners" argument when it suits them politically, and apparently now they’re even invoking it for a man who has bragged about engaging in sexual violence against women. The ease with which Jerry Falwell Jr., of Liberty University, the largest Christian university; Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council (FRC), which has been labeled as an ant-LGBT hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC); and James Dobson, founder of the equally odious Focus on the Family, almost immediately went public defending Trump was stunning even considering their often warped sense of Christian values. These are the people who crusade against the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, claiming homosexual acts and transgender identity are “immoral" and “unnatural." But they hold Trump up as a savior, and thus a paragon of morality who will in fact help them end a woman’s right to choose and overturn marriage equality via the radical judges he’s promised them he will appoint to the Supreme Court. ...

Well of course they’re sticking with Trump. Says right there in the Bible that women should be silent and subservient to men. Having a woman leader runs against gawd’s plan. What they really like about Trump, though, is that he’s an authoritarian. Those people need someone to tell them how to behave, even if that someone is a morally bankrupt narcissist.

I think this goes well beyond religion, or any one religion anyway. There is a talk by a young journalist who has followed Hillary for while (okay, young in comparison to me). It drags on a bit so I’m not going to find and link it. He talks about the style Hillary uses, which is listening. Sometimes too much, as in including too much in her health care proposal as First Lady. He makes a good point, that a system that has produced 44 men is probably geared in some way to prefer men and the male style of leadership. Make whatever comments you want about what’s true and what’s a stereotype, but there are difference.

True enough and that title is a bit drama queen for sure %-P Particularly after hearing the NPR story this evening.
Salt Lake Tribune Endorses Hillary Clinton In the editorial, the red state newspaper calls GOP nominee Donald Trump 'a total disgrace.' {Of course they have a great many economic interests to help moderate their approach. I give them credit saying enough.} By Susan Milligan | Staff Writer Oct. 12, 2016 http://www.npr.org/2016/10/12/497715149/trumps-comments-could-threaten-stronghold-with-evangelicals
Then there is this tidbit from Hillary Clinton campaign releases ‘Mormons for Hillary’ video POSTED 7:59 AM, OCTOBER 11, 2016, BY BEN WINSLOW,
SALT LAKE CITY -- Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign released a video on Tuesday morning, targeting Mormon voters and hoping to persuade them to vote for her in the November election. The video, entitled "Mormons for Hillary," features members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and at least two Republicans from the state legislature: former Rep. Sheryl Allen (who also ran as a Democratic Lt. Governor candidate in 2010) and former Rep. David Irvine. Both are among the Mormons who have endorsed Clinton in one of the reddest of red states. {2/3s of evangelicals for Trump before sexual assault comment. How many are scary die-hards remains to be seen.}

Then again, there is this:
Conservative Christian pastor: It’s better for a president to grab a vagina than to have one by Tom Cahill | October 12, 2016 https://usuncut.com/politics/right-wing-pastor-better-trump-grab-psy-one/ Donald Trump’s boasting about sexual assault is less important than a female president occupying the White House, according to a right-wing pastor. On Monday, Right Wing Watch posted a video of “Coach" Dave Daubenmire, a former failed candidate for the Ohio legislature and founder of Pass the Salt Ministries, who argued that the billionaire reality TV host deserved to be president more than Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, because “women are not to have authority over men." “[W]hen is the last time your pastor stood up in the pulpit and said, ‘Hey, listen, we cannot vote for Hillary Clinton because women are not to have authority over men’? If we want to follow the Bible, that would sure be a good place to start, wouldn’t it?" Daubenmire said in a YouTube video. “Rather than worrying so much about the immorality of a sinful man, what about the biblical principle that when a woman rules over a man … it’s a sign of judgment of the Lord?" Daubenmire isn’t the only right-wing Christian zealot to double down on his backing of the GOP presidential nominee despite the emergence of his open bragging about grabbing women by their genitals without their consent. The 700 Club’s Pat Robertson also recently threw his weight behind Trump, dismissing the embarrassing audio as Trump being “macho." . . .

Yes, they’ll profess to honor that line in the bible to the letter and at all costs but when it comes to not committing adultery, not coveting a neighnor’s wife and not stealing, weeelllll, that can be overlooked. No use going to extremes!

Religion is such a convenient tool to justify selfishness.
Sure…, without god, everything is permitted…
But with god, everything can be justified…
This god is very convenient to wash away all the guilt that comes from human conscience.
