Whites are superior

Guy, I’m curious, what does all this superiority complex get you?

Does it somehow satisfy to all feel superior? Does it help make you a better, or more thoughtful human?

Doesn’t community and cooperation and life and let life, and we kinda need each other as we go through life - mean anything?

Or does it feel good inside the bomb shelter?

I don’t get what’s in it. What your attitude is all about. <:head scratch icon:>

@Mriana, the quotations in your post #323088 are biblical commentaries on the way of life among the Jews, and others, in antiquity. Back then, people were pretty brutal; especially, the Romans, if we can believe historians. Christianity, a teaching attributed to Jesus, was a breakaway from the old ways in order to bring about goodwill among people and harmony in society. The compilation of texts, including Jewish scriptures, that form the Bible serves to explain the story of Jesus. His teaching, that guides Christians, is found in the Gospels.

I’ve read reports that having a superiority complex emits energies that rebuild the Ozone layer. I have doubts about it validity though.

Also, it’s better to be dominated by the West than by anyone else because we are more enlightened.
I'd love to hear how you reconcile dominance and enlightenment. Pretty sure it's the second term you're having trouble with.

That may be, but when it came to slavery and interracial marriages, those for slavery and against interracial marriage used the O.T. Even people for Jim Crow Laws and Segregation used the O.T., like uneducated people. In fact you can see the use of the O.T. in support of racist views in the case of Loving v Virginia, which such use was no different when supporting slavery in the U.S. Racist people do not stick to the N.T. in order to justify their hatred and they often ignore the red print (J.C. quotes) and even today, which shows that White folks are not superior. Loving v Virginia is quite ugly or at least the Xians were ugly.

YOu can say that the OT is obsolete all you want (many Xians do, until they need to cherry pick even the OT for support of their views), but it doesn’t matter because Xians often fall back onto the OT when they feel it is useful to them.

I actually have the Loving movie and I really appreciate the two for what they did. I highly recommend it. IMHO, it’s the greatest (real) love story on earth.

If you wish to read more about the Lovings’ case, including the oral arguments: {{meta.fullTitle}}

IMO, the case shows that “whites” are not superior and are no better than anyone else. Even in 1989, with the birth of my first child, there were still hateful “white” people who could not accept that two people who love each other had the right to marry and procreate. Of course that year wasn’t the first time my family faced racism. That said, I mean what I said about two people who love each other and for me, that extends to the LGBT getting married and adopting children or using artificial means to get pregnant and have children (IVF, I think the initials are). The problem is, it’s vile supremacist who are the first to stand up and scream “I object” and spew BS.

So, Thatoneguy can scream he’s superior all he wants, but what it tells me is that he actually has an inferiority complex and needs to feel he is better than others so he doesn’t feel inferior.

Katherine Johnson, whose calculations enabled Apollo 11 to land on the moon, is dead at 101. She was what, to me, superiority is all about. She was an African-American mathematician who persevered in her career when the country had racial segregation laws that defined her workplace. She didn’t turn nasty.

From 1958 until her retirement in 1986, Johnson worked as an aerospace technologist, moving during her career to the Spacecraft Controls Branch. She calculated the trajectory for the May 5, 1961 space flight of Alan Shepard, the first American in space. She also calculated the launch window for his 1961 Mercury mission. She plotted backup navigation charts for astronauts in case of electronic failures. When NASA used electronic computers for the first time to calculate John Glenn's orbit around Earth, officials called on Johnson to verify the computer's numbers; Glenn had asked for her specifically and had refused to fly unless Johnson verified the calculations. Are you taking back these statements?
The superiority of white folks, as a group, in the US is undeniable. --Sree

Superiority is not a matter of choice; it’s a blessing. --Sree

@Sree Katherine Johnson was a great woman, which just shows that “whites are not superior” and contradicts what you previously said, which Lausten pointed out. She is a fine example of how extremely intelligent people of African descent and whose ancestors suffered under slavery can be. She was a very gifted woman and deserves a lot of credit for her fine work and contribution to the space program of the United States of America. If you saw her story, which includes her friends and co-workers, they also got the stupid segregated bathrooms removed. She no longer had to run clear across campus just to relieve herself. If I need a good, no excellent mathematician, she would be it.

There are many black people in U.S. history who made great contributions and were very gifted. She is only one, which very much contradicts the title of this thread (and if I were to be honest, it’s a lame title that I really loathe).

Lausten: Are you taking back these statements?
Of course not. You and I may have a different understanding of the term "superiority".

To me, it means an outstanding ability to excel in the face of adversity or competition. It is an attitude of self-confidence that is vital for doing well in a challenging world. Katherine Johnson is the role model for black kids, not Rosa Parks; and Muhamad Ali is my choice, not Martin Luther King Jr. or Obama.

Superiority, as explained above, is not exclusive to white people. Tiger Woods redefined the game of golf. He transformed it from an obscure snobbish white man pastime to a multi-million dollar spectator sport for athletes. And there is nothing to stop any minority to replace white social dominance in the US. In this regard, Jews are phenomenal.

I see where you and Lausten are coming from now. The title of this thread. I wasn't paying attention to it's implication before. Who started this thread? He needs to qualify what the meaning of the title is.

The thread is pretty clearly explained in the opening post. It’s a question, not a statement. The thread is challenging the statement. It grew out of something Bob said in a different thread. CC then asked him,

So Bob, you actually believe that white’s are somehow superior?
What I'm hearing Sree say is, for a black person to be considered "superior", they have to not only overcome the disadvantages they are handed in the US, they have to be quiet about it. Just do your job and don't complain, then the whites will accept you and praise you.

I'm trying to figure out which of these two things shows more ignorance. It's hard to believe he believes either of these.

Maybe they will praise you, but yes, black people, especially women, have a lot to overcome to get the recognition they deserve. It shouldn’t be that way, but it’s true.

@Sree

Katherine Johnson is the role model for black kids, not Rosa Parks; and Muhamad Ali is my choice, not Martin Luther King Jr. or Obama.

How do you know that MLK Jr and President Obama or even Rosa Parks are not role models too? Who are you to choose? My younger son liked Malcolm X and Michael Jordan, and my older son was proud to vote for Barack Obama for first time voting. Cassius Clay, AKA Muhammad Ali was not one of their role models. They were allowed to pick who they liked in history. My favourite is MLK Jr and his wife Coretta, Harriet Tubman, Makhpiya Luta, Sacajawea, Slon-he, Maya Angelou, Zora Neale Hurston, Rita Coolidge, President Obama and his wife Michelle, Gandhi, Nichelle Nichols, Neil deGrasse Tyson, only to name a few minorities. Of course you can Ms Johnson above and the Lovings to that list. They have many qualities and values I appreciate. That’s just a few of the minorities I look up to. Now if you want to know who I admire that’s white, I think I mentioned them- Gene and Majel Roddenberry for starters. In fact, Gene and Majel are #1 in my book, with Nichelle Nichols, MLK Jr following.

Yes, Asia. We must recognize the superiority of our yellowish brethren/master race. Yellows are superior. Make Asians Great Again.

@timb What? I think your being sarcastic or joking or I’d like to believe that. Although Japanese cartoons (anime) is quite captivating and the nosebleeds the boys get. lol Why they chose that for a boy getting excited, I have no idea.

@Mriana: How do you know that MLK Jr and President Obama or even Rosa Parks are not role models too? Who are you to choose?
Am I not allowed to choose? It's my personal choice. Do you want to deny me my own role models?

You don't like what I said. By diminishing me, you are diminishing Katherine Johnson. Throughout human history, achievement through merit is the way things work. It's the way we evolve forward. Because she had to overcome disadvantages, she was that much better than her white peers. And that made her superior to them and worthy of admiration and emulation by all.

@Sree

Am I not allowed to choose? It’s my personal choice. Do you want to deny me my own role models?

You can choose for yourself. I just mistook that as deciding for others. That was my fault. Sorry I read that the wrong way.

Here are four young women I admire. They all have great strength to fight against a racist regime and they are up there as good role models IMO. It’s a long video, but it’s worth hearing them out and hearing what they have to say about racism/white supremacy, bigotry, sexism, etc.

By diminishing me, you are diminishing Katherine Johnson.
No, I'm not. You are inconsistent to the point of being insincere. You can't say achievement is through merit, and "The superiority of white folks, as a group, in the US is undeniable." You can't say, "she had to overcome disadvantages" and "there is nothing to stop any minority to replace white social dominance in the US."

You can say those things of course, as you did, but if you want to be taken seriously and be considered coherent, then you shouldn’t say contradictory things like that.
