It would be interesting, to see how a technology that could make you significantly smarter when turned on, would effect your opinions and beliefs. Then to see if your opinions and beliefs would change back when you turned it off.
e.g., If you put a thinking hat on a Creationist and turned it on, would they realize what dolts they had been? Then you turn it off and they become Republicans again?

But there’s been a fair amount of (often preliminary) research done into how different areas of the brain effect things like religious and political belief, visions and spiritual experiences, and the like. It’s pretty fascinating reading. Makes an awful lot of people awfully uncomfortable too. I guess they don’t like the notion that their supposedly enlightened spiritual connection with God may just be an overactive posterior medial frontal cortex.
