Look on the bright side, the air quality in LA is probably better right now than its been in 50 yrs.It is only possible to look at that bright side if one lives in LA. What percentage of the global population is that? Oh damn! I didn't look at the bright side. Vulcan genes.
Catastrophes take many forms.
Here’s one most don’t think about.
Humidity may prove breaking point for some areas as temperatures rise, says study From US south to China, heat stress could exceed human endurance Date: December 22, 2017 Source: The Earth Institute at Columbia University https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/12/171222090302.htm Summary: Climate scientists say that killer heat waves will become increasingly prevalent in many regions as climate warms. However, most projections leave out a major factor that could worsen things: humidity, which can greatly magnify the effects of heat alone. Now, a new global study projects that in coming decades the effects of high humidity in many areas will dramatically increase.
Don’t say it, let me guess: ‘HEY, it’s only a few days a year! What’s the big deal?’
:ahhh:
What’s “32°C Wet Bulb” anyways ? :grrr:
Climate Change due to Global Warming is here folks. Deny it or not, we're gonna have to live with it and a lot of human and animal life will die. The classic story of "Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing."California is now dealing with it full force, the entire year there is now wildfire season. http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/26/us/2017-california-wildfire-records-trnd/index.html
This year's rash of catastrophic wildfires didn't just destroy neighborhood and livelihoods -- they also annihilated records. And the destruction's not over. The Thomas Fire, which has torched the equivalent of Dallas and Miami combined, is still raging in Southern California. And this doesn't just apply to California, the entire nation is at risk now including the south and east for hurricanes, the midwest from more frequent and powerful tornadoes, flash flooding is becoming a greater threat in many places, all the coastlines will be facing greater erosion and some a much greater threat of storm surge and more. And the idiots now running the US are pretending this existential risk doesn't even exist. The entire GOP is in denial of reality on multiple levels which leaves all Americans at severe risk. Maybe we should all hold a giant prayer meeting to make it all go away... or could it be the evangelicals see this as a excellent opportunity to bring about the end of the world that many seem to crave. Totally insane situation...
Maybe we should all hold a giant prayer meeting to make it all go away...Been there, done that, https://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/08/11/rick-perrys-unanswered-prayers/
But its so cold right now where I happen to live!! Therefore obviously the entire theory of Global Warming is an Atheist/liberal/hippie/government conspiracy to promote demonic Green technologies and give all the jobs to Mexicans! Trump 2020
Too much meme? Please don’t ban.

Trump 2020 Too much meme? Please don't ban. That cold spell is a result of Climate Change caused by Global Warming. Remember the old saying that a butterfly flapping it's wings somewhere, might produce a storm elsewhere? Last year was the hottest year in modern history. This affects the climate balance and produces more intense shifts, including super cold areas and super hot areas. A temporary local cold spell is no indication of anything except that the weather is becoming more unpredictable, which falls under the heading "climate change due to global warming".
I’m sure this is going to be a hot summer in South Texas.

If your a trump supporter then you're here for the opposite of rational discussion... Go start a thread on how great racism, billionaires and Putin are moron...

The dead sea: Global warming blamed for 40 per cent decline in the ocean's phytoplankton Microscopic life crucial to the marine food chain is dying out. The consequences could be catastrophic Science Editor, Steve Connor Wednesday 28 July 2010 http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change/the-dead-sea-global-warming-blamed-for-40-per-cent-decline-in-the-oceans-phytoplankton-2038074.html Scientists have discovered that the phytoplankton of the oceans has declined by about 40 per cent over the past century, with much of the loss occurring since the 1950s. They believe the change is linked with rising sea temperatures and global warming. If the findings are confirmed by further studies it will represent the single biggest change to the global biosphere in modern times, even bigger than the destruction of the tropical rainforests and coral reefs, the scientists said yesterday.
LOBAL WARMING IS PUTTING THE OCEAN'S PHYTOPLANKTON IN DANGER Phytoplankton are an essential part of the marine food chain. But according to new research, their numbers are dwindling. SARAH WATTS | DEC 29, 2017 https://psmag.com/environment/global-warming-is-putting-phytoplankton-in-danger As Hurricanes Irma and Harvey swept along the Atlantic this summer, they were followed by a huge undercurrent of phytoplankton. Although the two storms claimed countless lives and caused billions of dollars in damage, there was at least one unexpected benefit: Phytoplankton—single-celled organisms like plants and bacteria that populate the surface of the ocean—bloomed behind them. For decades, researchers have pointed to phytoplankton as one of the planet's most valuable resources. They form the basis of the marine food chain and provide half the ocean's oxygen (while trees, shrubs, and grasses provide the other half). Hurricanes churn the ocean, bringing up nutrients like nitrogen, phosphate, and iron from the depths of the ocean and introducing them to the surface levels where plankton live. In turn, the phytoplankton bloom and spread, and marine life grows with it. But even as hurricanes are increasing and intensifying, scientists say that phytoplankton is still in serious danger of dying out. ...

Maybe this one will open up. Guess I’m tired of all this talk about what’s going on inside our heads. Time to think about the environment we exist within.

Flood basalts are giant volcanic eruptions or series of eruptions that cover large stretches of land or the ocean floor with basalt lava. Oceanic Anoxic Event (OAE) and mass extinctions are considered to be hyperthermals - usually associated with flood basalt eruptions. Phases of rapid global warming, known collectively as hyperthermals. For further readings and sources visit Extinction Events in Earth History and Today – Climate State…
