Food for thought for the next time you hear some climate science “skeptic” using the label “CAGW” (Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming) as some sort of bludgeon for mindlessly ridiculing serious climate experts.

Judith Curry's cynical game: "CAGW Memeplex"

It was inspired by some clown called Andy West who posted an essay over at Judith Curry's blog -
whereby he tries to write off the concern of rational folks who look at the AGW evidence
and are scared as hell that we are heading towards ever greater ecological catastrophes.
Climate change has already been catastrophic for those who’ve been impacted the significant increase in flooding, droughts and heat waves that can dry out entire continental regions such as in the US and Asia resulting in massive forest fires and the dying off of vast swaths of forest from pest infestations as in BC my home province. Salt water intrusion is already becoming an issue in some of the most crucial food growing areas of the world such as the Mekong and Yangtze river deltas and will only get worse as sea levels continue to rise.
Rising sea levels are already making some island nations uninhabitable and in coming decades many of the most developed and populated places on the globe will be abandoned as rising seas and storm surges from much more energetic storms makes it too hazardous to remain.
That’s just a start, anyone who claims that climate change isn’t already catastrophic is lying, claiming that it’s not going to get much worse as we continue to drive the positive radiative balance even further is also a lie.
