I’ll take Anerican to Amerikan any day. 
Basically all the legacy media in the West is propaganda. Then there’s Hollywood and other sources for TV that drive anti-Muslim sentiment and various social engineering agendas. Western society is amongst the most brainwashed in the world.
All media is propaganda. It always has been.
That said, the US has an advantage over the rest of the world with our speech and press freedoms – which means other voices can get noticed.
