War On Christmas

I remember first hearing about polls like this in High School.
It's true, back in high school I and some others were given ai assignment to take the declaration of independence, in petition form, pound the pavement and get signatures on it. Boy of boy did a lot of people refuse to sign. Don't remember the actual numbers, but it was eye opening and it seems to me there was only one or two people who recognized what it was they were being asked to sign. Out of, must of been a couple dozen I asked. Though it was back around '71 so the details are a bit dim.

Then I also remember one history teacher to got into a big ol lecture warning us kids, we shouldn’t be too smug about liberal values, because the pendulum was going to swing back and all the political advances lefties believed they made, could be wiped out. If we didn’t remain on our toes.

He was a bit of prophet, . . . actually he was just a sober thinker who knew his history.

@write4u Sometimes I wish there were thumbs up on posts. I agree and not just his 10 Commandment skits, but all his religious skits.

ditto that, on a “Thumbs Up” You’d like to show your agreement without having to reply “Yeah, Me Too!” (like I’m doing now  )

You got better than I did. Illinois had an excellent civics curriculum. We went over every bit of the Constitution and did some comparison to other political systems. At the end of it, a teacher led a very open discussion about the differences of capitalism and socialism and communism. It was the 70's so communism didn't get much support, but socialism got some. Then the teacher forgot he was a teacher or something and just laughed at the ones who had made good points. He said, something like, sure it sounded nice, but there will always be someone who wants more than the equal share they are getting from socialism, and they'll figure out how to get it. Jerk.

A new poll from the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg Public Policy Center reveals how shockingly little people know about even the most basic elements of our government and the Constitution that formed it.
It is no wonder that so many of them have been so easily led down the path to socialism.
the equal share
Another myth, just like the free lunch.
