In response to Ibelieveinlogic,

Your assertion that “the reason why we have representatives doing the governing for us is that our founders recognized that we are not fit to govern ourselves”, is a cynical and inaccurate remark. We have representatives because the proper workings of any functioning democracy need a formalized procedure to make decisions and formulate policy. The fairest and most responsive way to do this is through elected representatives. It’s very simple. It’s more efficient for a small number of voter-chosen politicians to consider and vote on issues than convening a national referendum to decide important questions. We have representatives because it’s a convenient and streamlined process, not because we’re not fit to govern ourselves. Only autocrats and dictators view citizens as incapable of self-governance.

Also, the comment on needing 100 new nuclear plants for electricity to power our transportation needs is wholly inaccurate. This dated and erroneous point of view may have been more accurate 30 years ago but is now completely invalid. Solar power and the impressive technology that converts it into mechanical energy is available here and now. Green energy is the fastest-growing sector of the global energy economy and shows every sign of continuing in this direction.

Old ideas and old beliefs are no longer relevant to a world hungry for new innovations and new solutions needed to solve the worlds challenges ahead.

Good point! Thank you Michael.

Back to the title of this thread. I can’t resist adding this summary of the past four years of the trump.

Seems appropriate - if any one asks why you despise the trump so much, you might want to point them to this little list that summarizes the character…
