I can’t tell the story near as good as Rachel, so with no further ado,
Rachel Maddow reviews the remarkably sparse qualifications J.D. Vance offers both as a campaign partner and as a potential vice president (and even a senator), and points out Vance’s interest in changing the American system of government, which is the qualification that most appeals to Donald Trump, confident of a win.
I hope she’s wrong, we shall see.

Who is J.D. Vance really?
That is the question that has dogged the 39-year-old senator from Ohio along his peculiar path to power, which began in 2016 with the publication of his bestselling memoir Hillbilly Elegy and culminated this week when former President Donald Trump selected him as a running mate for the 2024 election.
Why it matters: From a “Never Trump guy” to one of Trump’s fiercest defenders, Vance’s conversion to MAGA acolyte stands out in the former president’s inner circle.
He’s not the best human being. He is without a doubt part of the dotard’s ilk- an egotistical, xenophobic, sexist, racist, hypocritical, bigot. Did I miss anything?

Trump picked Vance for his appeal to disaffected workers in the rust belt in his rejection of neoliberalism that biden has happily continued since raygun. He rejects globalisation and calls for protectionism in terms of tariffs that appeals to workers at home.
