The racist president

trump didn’t work his way to the Oval Office by embracing those things that bring Americans together and by an expression of principles that the nation is most commonly seen to hold.
trump pushed his way to power by being one of the most divisive figures in US political history. He bullied his way through a field of republican rivals who while they flirted around the edges of social extremism were not willing to go totally over to the dark side in the way that trump did.
After the removal of Paul Manafort as his campaign manager trump brought on board Steve Bannon the man widely considered to have turned Breitbart into a platform for white supremacists. Bannon was later made chief White House strategist although his influence has weakened as trump plays off subordinates off against each other much in the manner Hitler ran Nazi Germany.
In the years before the election trump carried out a relentless campaign to convince as many people as possible that America’s first black president was not even born in America and therefore was not qualified to lead the nation. Based on no evidence as trump himself now admits.
During last years election trump made blanket racist statements against Mexicans, Muslims and encouraged violence against mostly black protesters at his political rallies that more than few have compared to white power rallies.
In November after his election Nazis met openly in Washington DC to, “Hail trump, hail our leader”.
Now racist are openly rallying and attacking opponents in places like Charlottesville VA, going as far as making violent and deadly attacks against people carrying signs and making it clear they do not support intolerance and bigotry that is aimed at denying the rights and possibly even the existence of millions based on their ethnic background.
trumps comments on this tragedy is that the blame lies, “on many sides”, much as he did last year when he openly encouraged his supporters to violently attack anyone who was there to protest the racist comments and attacks trump was making to rally his forces.
trump is a racist, he won’t strongly condemn violent racists in America because they are his true base, without them his support will rapidly fade away.
Get ready for more racially motivated violence in America as trump’s true base works to create as much chaos and confusion in America as their leader is revealed to be the traitor and monster he really is.

I agree. Lois

And judging from various polls, Republicans in general agree with Trump, like 68% agree with his handling of Charlottesville. The other 32% are Republican members of congress who know better than to agree with him in a poll BUT still carry out basic racism by pushing so-called voters rights bill, etc. They're the ones who as soon as a black guy got into power, one who was smarter and classier than they were, met to discuss now to block everything he did. Not everything they disagreed with, but simply everything. Why? Because he was black.

The other day the CBS news had a brief interview with three Trump supporters, all women (two of them black), saying that their support for him hadn’t wavered at all since the Charlottesville incident. One of them said that they didn’t vote for him because he was nice or popular, but because he could get things done. Another actually tried to blame the current racist climate on Mr. Obama!!! She said something about his “politics of personality” as if it was a bad thing. The third said that she didn’t let anyone tell her what to think (as if it was the news media who was behind the whole thing, making Trump look bad). I got the impression listening to them that Trump could kick babies and they’d STILL support him. :frowning:

Not everything they disagreed with, but simply everything. Why? Because he was black. How can it been seen in other light, Barak Obama wasn't a radical departure from how America has been governed for a long time. The only difference was he wasn't white. When David Duke applauds something you do in regards to race relations then there is a very good chance you are a racist. And Duke applauded Trump's handling of the Charlottesville tragedy in making the "many sides" comment. Trump's comments about violence on many sides is complete BS as well as trying to create some fictional "alt-left" which he then tried immediately attribute to a journalist who asked him what he meant by the term. The people who went to protest in Charlottesville didn't go there with violence as an integral part of their ideology, the white supremacist did. White supremacy's goal is the removal of all people who don't meet their very narrow criteria of acceptable. And they may talk about "peaceful" ethnic cleansing but that is total BS as well, there is no such thing. If someone is marching openly in a cause that there is no doubt in the world is one of the most destructive then people who don't want to be on the nasty end of an ethnic cleansing have two choices. They can remain silent and eventually be destroyed... or they can stand up and fight back. Just like the US and most of the rest of world did when this monster rose out of the slime over 50 years ago.

It doesn’t matter if he is racist or not (he is), what matters is the win. If democrats keep focusing on the wrong issues we will never get this country back. I do believe there will be a backlash in upcoming midterm. But if we don’t handle this carefully we could easily not get the votes. Voters rights can’t be a national issue, it has to be a local issue to places it most affects. We need to campaign in spite of race not because of it. Special interests and identity politics will destroy us, the economy is doing to good for the “everyman” to understand that these are the effects of the Obama administration, not the few months Trump has been in office. That is the message you need to get across, the effects of a presidency rarely are immediate, usually taking months or years to take effect. Don’t let Trump take credit for everything, undermine him, show the people the rich, corporate stooge that he is. Not just by pushing all the corporations he has let into the white house, but by proving he cares nothing for the middle or lower class.
Look, I will put it this way, every democrat already knows the platform we run on, don’t waste time trying to sell them on something they already agree on. Try to sell the more moderate republicans and undecided on less controversial issues they can’t help but agree with. All of us sitting in a circle saying, " yeah man Trump is a fascist, racist idiot" isn’t working, its pushing the voters we need farther away.

I'm pretty sure that the leader of the US tacitly supporting the kinds of organizations that in the past have given us some of the bloodiest conflicts in history is of the utmost urgency. So yes it matters incredibly that not only Trump supports white supremacists and openly encouraged them to violence to get elected, it also matters greatly that he was elected in the first place. And the fact that Trump is in power is just as much the fault of the Democrats as anything. So the Democrats in control of America isn't going to solve anything if they're just laying the groundwork for the next and likely even worse far right reactionary to take control of the US. Listen to Carter on why an open racist is now in office in America. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhebmG148Zo The sickness in American politics goes far deeper than two parties competing for office when in the end they are both out of touch and no longer represent anyone but those few who pay them.

I agree with your solution, just not the methods. Yes, Jimmy Carter sums it up very well, but Bill Maher, Sam Harris, and many others said this before and directly after the election. It is crucial to know the cause, I agree. We must analyze and extrapolate all the data we can from that and move on. Let them work to impeach him on the judicial side; on our side the role of citizen we have to work to get democrats into the senate or it will never happen. All they have found so far, you must come to the same conclusion. He is sitting president, guilty of treason and obstruction of justice, blatantly and empirically. Republicans are not going to give up a loss. We must be practical and meticulous in our next steps forward, because time is running out. We can not afford idiotic children attacking people in the streets, that makes their side more cohesive.
The sickness, no the infection does go far deeper. It starts with citizens united, because of that we can not trust our own representatives. Even if a populist candidate came along, with a good message and strong following, he would need money sooner or later to beat the other candidate with all the financial backing and the cycle would start again. Citizens United must be abolished. You’ve got to understand you’re not alone, all those Trump voters agree with you that the system is broke. But they didn’t have Bernie to vote for, so they voted for trump. All those moderates are convertible if you don’t push them too far away.
Obviously, your earlier statement, it matters. But it won’t matter a lick if we’re all dead. We’ve got to win.

The amazing thing is how many Americans keep pretending they have a president and a Congress that represents them.
Trump belongs to Putin and Congress is bought and paid for, it will require a fundamental rebirth to bring anything approaching democratic representation and justice to America again.

Long ago, when I was young, Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev said America would destroy itself from within without a shot being fired. Though both he and his beloved Soviet Union are gone I fear with the likes of tRump in the White House Mr. Khrushchev’s prediction is just around the corner.

I'm not sure that Khrushchev is much of an authority on anything except how to survive under a tyrant, this was the guy who banged his shoe on his desk at the UN and claimed that he would bury the US. Then he just about started WW III so they deposed him in the USSR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm0yQg1hS_w There is still a lot of strength left in the US in its Constitution and political structure, but the fact that the leader of Russia was able to shoehorn his candidate into the Oval Office is clear evidence of how bad things have become in US politics. Trump is a stark lesson in the danger of letting any small fraction of the population take control of a nation in their interests, trump would never have been elected if the US election system hadn't been so corrupted by massive amounts of money. People don't matter there anymore, just who can pay the most to get their will done.
